"Sons of the Forest takes everything its predecessor did well and does it a little bit better. And considering how much I enjoyed the original, I can easily recommend this strong follow-up. Exploring a huge, beautiful, deadly island through the changing seasons is a treat on its own. The new base building mechanics could entertain me for days without ever touching the main story. And to top it all off, we have smarter and more unsettling enemy behavior paired with thoughtfully improved combat. The technical polish and touched up story since its Early Access release round out what is easily one of my favorite open world survival crafting games ever."

It's a great game. The atmosphere they created makes me want to keep coming back just to spend time there.
The game is too easy, specially in co-op, and we need more building variety. Enemies and companions can't cross bridges and there is no way to melt snow in winter. Still one of the greatest survivals.

Is the controller support better than when it was in early access?
Controller support seems good to me! I’ve put about 20 hrs in since 1.0 and it seems pretty seamless once you know what buttons to press vs long press

in lots of little ways, sure. But it's not like they're giving you a kelvin cloner to give you 6 other kelvins to build log cities. Just quality of life and seamlessness
It's already pretty manageable though, unless you built on a patrol route or something

A worthy sequel
this game is far from a 9 , its absolutely painfully boring after about the 9 hr mark , you just go into caves kill op enemies with bombs and find something cool at the end , how on earth is this a 9?? its a 7 at best and thats simply just because of the graphics and the building mechanics

You are right, the first game was better. This game still feels unfinished and has barely any horror in it. Especially the cannibals, they were way better in the first game.
@@Kinger039 they literally flew at the speed of light. First games cannibals couldn't have been worse. We're they more challenging and scarier after injecting compound v and lunging at you like a cannonball? Sure. Are the sequel's cannibals actually more like cannibalistic tribesman? To say otherwise would be pretty fuckin smoothbrained. Also dont understand how oiled up blue man group cave cannibals in the first are so scary to people when the sequel actually has unique cave cannibals instead of 99999999 health male blow up dolls
Interesting. My group got bored with it within 2 sessions. It feels like the exact same game as the first with little evolution.

huge upgrade from the first in every way, survival horror at it's peak
One of the best survival games out there everyone. Nice atmosphere, building aspects, many unique enemy types, lookswise absolutely gorgeous and many more. Me and my friends already clocked in at about 250hrs just building stuff. Definitely a must own. 👍🏼
Sadly one of the most surface level survival games out there
Its more of a sandbox action/horror game with survival mechanics. Its not as deep as some other survival games, but it makes up for it in combat, weapons and just overall fun

This game outside of minectaft has the best building mechanics I've ever seen.
It is well worth playing but the character animations and collision detection are srsly terrible. How is it that the forest looks almost real but characters look and move like game is 15 years old

Game is far from finished.... why its 1.0 .... I mean there are so many things like animals, buildings, tools, weapons that should be in the game... Yeah the story might be finished but everything else is far from finished

there's like 4 decent things that are missing. Gators, boar, boats and the church. Everything else is either included, replaced or irrelevant/obsolete. Wouldn't call that "far from finished..............."
