Massive props to your groundy. Unless you do this kind of work, Its hard to appreciate the attention and skill that has to be applied by the guy working the ropes required to keep the climber safe and work flowing smoothly. Awesome climbing and cutting on your part too. Regards from the States.
It’s always an honor for your best guy to come over and take your saw at the end of this video was so heartfelt and it’s not even funny how good these guys are together a lot of guys should take a good hard look at the ending to this video and you will see what friendship is about
Im on my partners phone watching this but id like to say ive been a tree lopper for about 8 months and ive climbed a few trees but i just wanted to say this job is by far one of the best if not the best job ive ever done and its a real privilege to be able to wake up early in the morning have a coffee and go out and be able to do this every single day. great vids mate keep up the great work!! Not only are you showing what its like to be a climber but you are also teaching people about the job once again great work!
How on earth can you be that high up in a tree and still smile for the camera!!? What a dude. Unlike some others, I think the music fits the film perfectly (the M83 intro is awesome) fantastic video guys.
In the last two minutes of this video was almost too hard to hold back the tears Such respect at the end from the guys👊✊👊👊👊👊✊✊✊✊ One the best videos ever!!!!!!!!
No time for games on those big boys you have to come with your a game and you have what it takes Dave great video to sit back on a rainy day and watch thank you so very much great brother please always stay safe
Awesome Job man your crew and yourself. Most people never understand that a good ground crew make one hell of a difference too you sir are very skilled again great job
Good work you guys, very professional and very safe!. You the climber did a very good job and are certainly one of the better climbers that I have seen post their job on You Tube. Keep up the good work!. Marti.
Great job Dave - excellent feel for when to put the saw away when blocking down. And the view out over Melbourne after topping made me feel really homesick.
Nice job on a monster, did some big ones in my time ,nice to see a pro do it not these cow boys from the states, always enjoyed the blocking down stage ,especially when we had a crane, lol.you have a very similar style to me as well .even down to to cutting in the wedge ,awsome video, from a cripple, did one with a lightning strike in the crown ,and the top blew out as I got to about 3/4 the way through, put me strait to the ground compressed three vertebrae .miss it every day ,keep safe lad.
excellent vid with good choice of music. The techniques and cuts were of top quality, safe and controlled. im not a climber although iv done ground work with some good crews & id be proud to work with you .
Hey Dan, Thanks mate. Yeah the trees are massive here in the Dandenongs. I'd say its pretty easy to get work as a climber here, i came over on a working holiday visa which gave me the freedom to travel around Oz working and getting contacts!! I think the shallow face you can see is were we had the GRCS!There was a tree very close to this one which fell over just missing the house and disturbing the root system to the tree we dismantled, you can see it in the video. Thanks again for the comment
That is a good job loved the video and love doimg the work i share with you u have done one of my dream job but av only been in the arb for a year now keep the good videos comeing
nice work David, that was a pretty mean climb and a really well made video its not often I would watch all of a video as long as this but well worth the watch, nice idea cutting the bark to give the rope some grip, eucs are slippy buggers,
Really cool video. When you was blocking down how comes you was putting 3 cuts in where the line goes. I understand the ones under the gob to stop it pealing down your flip line. Keep up the good work. It really makes me want to get my harness on.
Great video. Thanks for sharing it. What is the reason for putting a cut in the bark under the notch you just cut out? btw i'''m not a tree person but just enjoy your work and video
Ah yes, it's obvious now! The lowering Capstan. Doh! Thanks for the quick reply, and keep uploading the great videos... I'm still trying to find a good way of mounting my bullet helmet camera to the Petzl lid. Any suggestions would be greatly received :)
Hey Ant, Thanks for the nice comment! Really glad myself and reg coats vids are helping you out! I started out 13 years ago in the UK then went around Europe/Scandinavia and now in Australia and i'm still learning! Stick at it mate and you wont look back! Thanks again for the nice comment, if you're on facebook look me up djcoleman@live.co.uk :)
what was the girth at the base just wondering tree looks massive.Stihl model and bar size for size to tree.shur not 201 top handle lol.wish you would have gave us a 360 view what I saw was amazing. And how much top sway was there I seen 5 to 7 foot is that about right.
I greatly appreciate climbers that work as you are. Your video is inspiring and it is not the first time I watch it. Just a little question, What is the tool you use in 10:18 in order to make a wedge in big trunks is called?
Well deserved hugs at the end, good stuff guys. I have almost the identical helmet setup. Vertex vent, peltor muffs, and the Contour Roam. Same color too. Was that kernmaster you were climbing on? Well done. Be safe.
Nice work, David. They sure grow big over there! A couple of questions, if I may... How easy/difficult is it to get work as a climber in Aus?, and that monster looked like someone had put a shallow face cut in the base at some stage. Failed attempt at falling it by an amateur would be my guess... Keep the videos coming, I'm also a fan of Reg.
Thank you for the nice comment! Glad you like the music, after watching art of flight i knew i had to use m83 in a tree vid! Thats a big compliment saying you'd be proud to work with me, cheers mate :)

Really cool video. When you was blocking down how comes you was putting 3 cuts in where the line goes. I understand the ones under the gob to stop it pealing down your flip line. Keep up the good work. It really makes me want to get my harness on.
T&R Trees Thanks mate, the extra cuts are for grip, eucalyptus is really smooth and can sometimes slip out of the rope :)
T&R Trees Yes

Great video. Thanks for sharing it. What is the reason for putting a cut in the bark under the notch you just cut out? btw i'''m not a tree person but just enjoy your work and video
what is the density of the wood like? i cant tell if its a solid wood or like a fiberus wood.
Ah yes, it's obvious now! The lowering Capstan. Doh! Thanks for the quick reply, and keep uploading the great videos... I'm still trying to find a good way of mounting my bullet helmet camera to the Petzl lid. Any suggestions would be greatly received :)

I could only thumb this clip it once, deserves about three more zeros on the views and the same for the number of thumbs up.
Awesome video!!!
I usually comment on people that should never be allowed to touch a chain saw. nice work carry on...
Great job! Why did you lower the top half of the wood from the tree and then bomb the rest?
Niesamowita praca! Jestem pełna podziwu ! Super pełna profesja !
Curious, I'm not in the business. What is the function of the slashes cut below and to the sides of the wedge cut?
those are kerf cuts....a safety measure...to help keep the tree bark from latterly ripping down. so the piece breaks cleanly
Thanks, now it makes sense.
Breathtaking! Respect!
very nice video, I am an belgian arborist but work end live now in Budapest. stay safe sheers
What I want to know is how powerful was that chain saw that you were using?
Thanks Bram, i used to do tree work in Vienna (Wien) not far from you :)
The heights in these videos make my palm sweat.
Awesome work man, I know this property! Yeah yeah yeahs.... nice choice 🤘

+Erez Avraham Felling lever/bar
Does anyone know why Dave stopped posting?
The videos were great!
G'day Dave, great video, what are those two small shallow cuts you do on both sides and under the scarf for, before the back cut?
Brad Green Cheers Brad, the cuts are for stopping the bark peeling over my pole belt from the space left uncut for the hinge 👍
Teach me 🙏davecoleman tree rigging n cut.. Love it for broneo sabah.. Great man u are... Legend skilk
Did you get slightly surprised by the line comming at you around 2:20?
Watching this as we're all trapped on Covid 19 lockdown, a little vicarious freedom.
