From a sort of meta perspective, story-wise, Claire takes the place of Main Character, and does the main character things, the plot, yadda yadda. Cid, however, plays the role he's always dreamed of: The Eminence in Shadow! Claire is the non-isekai protagonist, basically.
Anime does this thing where it make Cid more uncaring more then he is, he did care for his sister dyinbg there atleast a little bit wich is why he appeard but yea he is still crazy. I do like this whole arc in general its really fun im excited for their reaction to the next episode and what crazy theories they gonna cook up
