Shouts to my people who come listen to this shit every once in awhile...
Title of the song is more relevant now than ever.
for over 10 years I have come back to this song.. its gotten me through some terrible times.. some lonely times.. some dark days man. DJ shadow captured this lonesomeness perfectly in this mix.
Keeps me on my toes and on point!
I'm also a digger very few and far apart we certainly are a rare breed so beautiful when done right he is master
We’re out here bro. We are living in some dark days.. I think of the people in Ukraine as I listen to this right now.
from IMDB about the movie "Dark Days" : The soundtrack for the film was provided by DJ Shadow (aka Josh Davis), who is a critically-acclaimed producer and DJ. He is notorious, however, for being very protective of licensing his music for other venues or projects, having declined many other scoring offers in the past. When a friend of Singer's saw the footage assembled to a rough cut, he suggested Shadow for the soundtrack. Singer got hold of a couple of Shadow's albums, and loved the music so much, he began to cut the music into his film without any contact with the DJ. When fellow producer Ben Freedman told him he would need the rights to the music, the duo concocted a scheme whereby they would write a note to him and give it to an attractive female friend who would go backstage after a show and personally hand-deliver it. It worked. Weeks later, the two scheduled a flight to LA to coincide with a last-minute meeting with Shadow and his agent. According to Shadow, he was prepared to turn down the men's offer to use his music. But when they showed him a rough edit of the film with his music that Singer had already cut-in, Shadow was taken aback and completely impressed. He not only let them use existing titles, but even remixed some older tracks intercut with new audio samples recorded by Singer in the tunnels as a special score done for the film
Just watched Dark Days... absolutely outstanding and very touching documentary. You almost forget it's a docu it's so compelling. Very honest and serious look into people's lives that you'd never imagine was real
Thanks for the research. I've been listening to Shadow since my teens, 45 now.
Fun Fact. This song was composed by Ducky from CSI.
Mandela was a communist murderer.
This tidbit was a great addition to my life, thank you @kirtonos
U CANT MAKE THAT STORY UP. SOUNDS AUTHENTIC. THANKS FOR SHARING. NOW TO HUNT DOWN THIS CUT ON WAX, SOUNDS EVIL. N THE DOCUMENTARY IS A CLASSIC.
thankyou amazing research
This track must be one of DJ Shadow's proudest accomplishments. It doesn't sound sampled, it sounds like a lost artifact produced in the late 60's.
I was very upset to learn it’s no longer on Spotify. Rad drums and def an avant-garage 60s sound
Not to mention that it’s the soundtrack to a really brilliant and inspiring film…Dark Days. Follows some of people that live in disused tunnels in the NY subway. Shot in B&W.
Dark Days was 1 of the most influencing film to me. All in B/W, high contrast and grainy, with this sad but real story, epic camera work and trippy, totally matching score by DJ Shadow.
Please show it to your children, this will teach them to be strong in life.
The Film definitely does not get enough recognition for how great it was. Very well made.
night train in New York in the late 70’s early 80’s.. is what I’m seeing. DJ Shadow true artist, transcends genre
Sultry as the summer heat
Great tune..the best..the motto is anyone can be homeless,,or end on the streets,,just be grateful you have a roof over ya head.
His drums are always fire 🔥 🔥 🔥
Earl Palmer....
Dj Shadow = LEGEND
The remz on the floor!! Dope upload
I love that sonar-ish sound that comes with the snare.
ANYTHING FROM SHADOW FROM THE OLD SCHOOL IS A MUST HAVE.
This doesn’t get old, ever. Matter of Fact: when I want to listen to this song and the song that comes after this, I leave my paid Spotify app so I can listen to these two song played consecutively for my pleasure.
Do you? Wow your just..shit man.. I mean.. wow.. do you really? I had a hard time believing that you would but.........ahhhhhhh I'm just go an shoot myself. Wanna give the world a break an join me? NAH?
Imagine finding music through Spotify!
This is one of my all time favorite 45's to jam! The documentary that this goes to is also a piece of art.
Love this gem!! Glad I took a chance on that one...BIG PAYOFF!
What a feast for my ears and brain, thank you.
One of my favorite documentaries, & the music is spot-on. This song gives me chills, it's fucking phenomenal.
This will stand the test of time !! COLLOSAL !!
Uff this masterpiece is a journey into the deep of the sadness & desolation...
No no no...
It’s just in a waiting line.
It's awesome for a director writing a flick looking for the right music to place in a scene.
@@guillorym Sounds like a Tarantino movie to me.

I saw this Documentary years back on Netflix. It was about the homeless people that lived underneath the streets in old rail lines.
They say at one time it was hundreds of people. Quite interesting doc.
Every City, for sure. It's like mushrooms sprouting up, the tents.
yep, after all the positive comments, ima put it on the list.
Feeling a little sick today, somehow found this song..made working at home a lot better/relaxer. Thanks.
What a strange comment to see posted 5 years ago, considering "everyone" is working from home to keep grom getting sick
@@fukngroovnkc3700 thank you for commenting I totally forgot this song. Took me a few min to get into it again and now I’m listening to it for 2 days straight during work

Thank you!
Thank you iv always wondered where it derived from!!
how bout the second part of the intro, its a creepy movie short sound kids get kidnaped by halloween or something
haha rollerblading brought me here and the first thing i notice is the pair of Remedy rollerblades laying on the floor haha.
I thought that it was quite generous that he allowed his music to be used for the film after all. No other artist would have suited it better. Great film and great artist.
jamas me canso de escuchar esta cancion
That was nice to hear, especially the second one. Thank you.
I just created an awesome scene to this. Thank you very much.
I love this long version. Just wish I could get it on my Apple Music.
I feel ashamed about not knowing this great song of Dj Shadow.
god this is such a great song. thank you for uploading.
Dark Days (2000)
Listening to music and making Midnight Art.
So blessed! And I am grateful.
I credit his movie and the movie Requiem for a Dream (2000) changed my whole life path. Not that I was ever out there out there...just young and wild. Definitely silly af and irresponsible. They pretty much cemented two personal rules that I still follow to this day: NEVER get on drugs. And NEVER be homeless. EVER! No disrespect to the unfortunate among us who have been, are or have ever been out there.
I can't do it...I'm just not built like that.
Whoa, this gives me shivers
Dark days is a documentary from the 90s about homeless people living in the amtrak under new york in complete darkness. The samples starting at 5:00 are used from the film aswell. Its moving, do watch it. (Its on netflix)
1 of mt favs to go out graffin to...
hellza memories!---nice upload
I see a Remedy sk8 in this clip. Awesome!
That was what introduced me to Dj Shadow in the pre-internet era, was the old skate videos. Love It!
This was the very last great music released...sad...but true....
Those skates are awesome, used to do aggressive back in the days of Roces, K2 and RB, now I own a pair of Salomon Vinny Minton's since 2004 ;)
ugh this is so good
Thanks for the upload. Nice drum kit.
classic just like the skates on the floor.
Sick tune! I'm loving those remedyz on the floor :D
Ya man, needed this right now.
Christ, this is so damn good.
No doubt. Thats the beauty of this type of music, it takes the obscure and allows the inquisitive among us to search it out and appreciate it for its own sake. Nowadays though you can just google to find out what a sample is and then have instant access to the original. You can buy compilation albums with all the most famous breaks on there. Which is a good thing and a bad thing.
Nice blades
when am down. this is my go to. v soothing.
such an awesome song, i love both the guitar & the groove. dj shadow is the shit
Fukin love this
The Dystopia record behind it has me 🤤
I DON'T EVEN LIKE MONEY! But I'll monetize the snot out of this video if it gets more than a million views 🙈
Look at the documentary and you understand why the B-side is so awesome..
an explosion of sound
any body with rems and dj shadow on 45 is good by me. thanks for up loading this classic
I see those remedys
It always reminded me of "The Pink Room" from Fire Walk With Me.
yeaaahhhh good call, man, ace tune.
hey DJ Shadow! If you are reading this. I thought the film was dark powerful and haunting! And your music gave it much of its power! Thats not normally my kinda music but being exposed to you via that film made me very interested in what you do. And what you do is great!
Check out endtroducing if you haven't yet- the sounds are old and still futurist or fresh. Dude captured some spirit of the 90's there.
Great film.
