    Men honored him.
    Women loved him.
    An empire feared him.
    A nation worshiped him.
Truer words have never been spoken.

Im Christian and find not the smallest doubt that Gandhi was a Messiah full of the spirit and love of God.
The fact that Gandhi was the son of a Jainist mother, the most ancient religion, the religion of the paradise, the religion of the absolute love and universal peace just seals the fact.

I personally view him as a great man. Think what you will, but he was great and honorable. This movie reflects that. It shows his life the way we know it did. Nobody needs to get worked up over the fact that he is. If you watch the movie, read any of his autobiographies or his novels, there is not a single thing that's bad. Besides, he died a long time ago. He lived, he inspired, he freed his fellow men. Deal with it. Doesn't change history.

Makes sense. Martin Luther King heard him and it was used, to a degree, by the blacks in the 1960's American South. Great TV. That caught Kennedy's attention. Ghandi's resistance through active, provocative non-violence wouldn't work everywhere. Hitler would have laughed at him as he squashed him underfoot with the hobnailed boots of his SS. But it was perfect for dealing with Britain. I think his message remains alive and may still be quietly sowing its seeds here and there. I like to think so.

Gandhi was a Great man who never belonged to that Era, He dreamt of a Mankind that loved each other and lived in Peace and solved all it's problems by giving up Violence, His vision would make our Planet the definition of Heaven on Earth.
But I do agree that his policy of Peace and Non Violence would never have worked again people like Mao or Hitler.

Gandhi was definitely reactionary in some ways, looking to the past, rather than trying to looking towards the future, even if it meant maintaining the oppressive caste system.
He was also revolutionary in some ways, as his anti-imperialist fight, and attempt to unite Hindus and Muslims.
A complex and contradictory character, who I personally have a lot of criticisms of , but definitely one of the more complete human beings of the last century.

I believe that Gandhi was an absolutely fabulous man. Though his ways of non-violence was not the only one means used in the fight for India's struggle for freedom, and they at some points failed, he is one of the greatest men of the 20'th century, and his theories on non-violence has inspired other great freedom fighters. Long live Mahatma Gandhi!

We cannot be sure if his example Jezus Christ ever existed and if he did we cannot be sure about if he really was as desciribed in bible- or apocryphal books. With Gandhi we can be sure and though he made some mistakes he was one of our finest, a bright example for all humans. He will live on forever...

Gandhi and his followers were fighting for a different way of life, a way of love and harmony... Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi did not really changed the Entire WORLD, but he changed the course of history. If it weren't for Gandhi, India is probably still in British control today. America would be different, because Martin Luther Kind Jr. might not be able to help give African-Americans rights and freedom. The world today would be very different. There are probably more things that would've been different if Gandhi have not existed...

Gandhi certainly had an enormous impact on much of the rest of the world and what courage. As I understand it his policy of non-cooperation and non-violence was largely responsible for the English leaving India. Other counties have learned to their dismay how stiff-necked the british can become when violence is used to resist their will. Argentina with their Falklands debacle are the latest, along with Germany and Ireland, to regret trying to deal with England by pointing a gun at them.

Wow, the various perspectives here are interesting. Gandhi was like any of us could be - he saw wrongdoings and tried to set them right. He stayed true to his beliefs, made some enemies, gave hope to many.
Many incredible people in our history have done powerful things, we do not diminish their achievements by celebrating the lives of others, rather it is through them all that we learn about the future. Peace can start with us. Here. Now. I think that was Gandhi's message. :)

What's with these bad comments on a non-violent man? He died for his country, refused luxuries and earthly possessions, used numerous religions as examples, and he ended up creating one of the most successful post-imperial territories of the British Empire. That deserves respect. I respect opinions, but those comments I see are not opinions, but attacks. This isn't a conspiracy movie! I just want to watch this video and scroll down without all this nonsense! Comment, but do no more. Honestly.
