True, I went on this for the first time yesterday. It's my second favourite coaster in the park, and I love the part where you're flying on the back. Shame I missed the VR version, what a cool idea.
Was on this ride today and all I can say is damn, I seriously missed out on something, that looks like it would’ve been incredible like that. The ride is a lot of fun on its own, but that added factor would’ve been awesome.

I would have loved to have seen the VR version, brilliant idea, but I do get motion sickness easily in VR, so it would have to be perfectly in sync with the motion I was feeling or I'd feel very sick lol
I was lucky enough to get to ride it with the VR on a quiet day, it was virtually walk on, the immersion was incredible and sorely missed. Perhaps we should ask AT to get a VR simulator ride in for people to experience it, it could be situated on the old Ripsaw site.
Ride looked ok, think they might aswell just kept it as Air, as CGI & Virtual adventure looked not that good to me, but then again probs different experience while on ride? Loved the Galactica music, epic. But yeah, the ride as it was in video. Could of honestly made it better. But good video, amazing footage and thanks for sharing. 😀
Thanks. I only got to ride it once with VR but thought it was great. Watching it on here doesn't really do it justice as to what it was actually like to ride. But it gives those that didn't get to experience it an idea of what it would have been like.
I personally hated the VR as it felt like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded but hey thats just my opinion im sure many loved it. Alton must of had their reasons for removing it.
I went on this a few years ago. Galactica themed but without the VR headsets. It's a decent ride, but it sort of felt like I was riding a half arsed version of it. It didn't help that the large Galactica logo was starting to peal off and at the very end of the ride before you return to the loading station, the ground was covered in spit, because people can't resist gobbing on the floor at the end. It didn't ruin the entire experience, but that did make it a bit of a disappointment.
Yeh the Galactica Logo's pealing and the area as a whole looking a little tired does detract slightly from the experience. However it is rumoured that the ride will be getting a re-theme for next season to coincide with the re-opening of Nemesis. With the #seekthetruth stuff that is part of the current marketing and the rebel group opposing The Phalanx likely to be part of Galactica's new theme.
To be honest i was there when the vr was going about on the ride and i remember almost going on it i was literally at the station for the ride and wimped out i should have done it 🙄
They used to, you would wear a VR headset and that is what you would see while riding. Personally I thought it was great, but a lot of people didn't like it. I think it often had syncing issues which caused motion sickness for some. It slowed operations down too, so was removed after a couple of seasons.
They were attached to the trains with wires. the restraints had a pouch on them which the headsets could go in. They were wiped after every ride and then placed in the pouch for the next rider to put on when they boarded. The process did affect the throughput which was part of the reason that they decided to first only have them available on certain seats, and then remove them completely. I only actually rode it once with VR but really enjoyed it. Would love to be able to do it again.

As a person who went on the non VR version, i can confirm that this ride is underrated and too overshadowed by nemesis reborn.

The VR was amazing. I'm not a fan of roller coasters since becoming a parent (?) but Galactica with VR was one of the best things I've ever done.

How exactly did they kit everyone out with headsets? I never went there while it was running and can't find any photos or videos of the setup.
