Definitely agree with your first option: theme to a fighter jet, repaint and tidy up the layout, and could definitely bring back the Air name which is great because a third name would be too much and Galactica doesn't fit at all. It's 22 years old, a retheme to last about 7 years would be perfect and I think it's too young to close unless there's major issues we don't know about
I think it's got alot of life in it yet. I'm no engineer, but I remember Corkscrew; it was clanky and very uncomfortable near the end, it beat you up when you went on it. Galactica still feels very smooth and isn't half as noisy.
Although the red and black would be nice, I think a dark blue track with black supports would work really well. We have to remember on the side of the Coca Cola station they painted the Phalanx logo a dark blue so it could be hinting to a repaint. It would also make it more unique than the same colours as Nemesis lol
I want them to add more theming to Air. If you watch the ads for Air from 2001/2002, the rocks look so cool and it’s an oasis. Like imagine if they did something with the concrete tunnel 😭.
I hope Galactica stays the same space theme but it just gets extra space theme like more portals, planets, and tons of cool theme. Also a better preshow and a backstory of its the hero fighting nemmy, I love the colour clash of red and blue in forbidden valley

Ive not been to Alton Towers for nearly 20 years. In the early 00s i had a season pass and went almost every week. I watched them build air and it instantly became my favourite coaster. Yes i know its not intense and its quite tame but the engineering and smootness blew me away. The way the trains seem to glide over the track is beautiful to watch. It would be a real shame for Alton Towers to remove it completely as it was a remarkable achievement to get people into the flying position and even though its not the huge icon that Nemesis is, its still the original first true flying coaster built anywhere in the world. I imagine the air track is not subjected to the same amount of stress that Nemesis is so perhaps theres still a fair bit of life left in it yet? A good overhaul and re-theme could give it a new lease of life for another 10 years
I would love to keep galactica because it is such a good ride,and is a good ride to start the day and lots of people like it too.But if it had a retheme to something along the lines of “galactica attack on nemesis” it could be loved by the people who like it and by the people who maybe dislike it.
i don't think they would paint it red because forbidden valley is already red I think they will paint it blue and I don't think they will replace it because its the uk only flying coaster

Personally I'd have had the ride depart the same direction with an inclined launch where the lift was. Go into a roll, follow the first turn then into a super long Gotham-esk stall. Cool layout tho
either retheme or wait a few more years and add a new-gen vekoma flying coaster which would fit phalanx theme better imo and be better for marketing than just another retheme.
My personal opinion: Project ocean's tunnel will serve to break up the area, so Galactica becomes part of its own land. Relocate the nemmy shop into R-CADE and you have a space area on one side and forbidden valley on the other. Makes sense as they don't have costs of a retheme, and Galactica has had some tlc alongside new merch so looks like it's sticking around. You've also got the issue of the rollercoaster restaurant which towers won't want to retheme so I think that is the likely option.
To be honest, I think Galactica could be replaced. The only bad thing about this choice is the flying feature disappearing. If it stays, the ride could have a lot of potential, especially as a fighter jet or something! I just really enjoy the flying feature as it is pretty unique! :)
I really hope it could stay for longer, given that I have not yet gone on it yet! Fingers crossed it stays for slightly longer, (but really though, it needs a repaint.)

If I were the towers Id retheme it to be a 'decomtamination' theme...load you in and spray you as you go through the ring...add in a load of screens talking about nemesis 'spores' etc...simple, cheap and linked thematically to the area
Nahh, don't talk bad about my favorite ride like that. Air is awesome, it might not be the best flying coaster in the world at all, but it's one we have here at home in the UK! It's a great coaster. Not everything has to be about high g force intense rides. I have ridden this back to back with Nemesis many times and I still prefer Air over it - both are awesome of course. To me, Air "Galactica" sums up what a roller coaster is about, absolute fun and a feeling of flying with great views. Agreed though it's in dire need of some love and "re"theming!!!
Make it into an aircraft carrier theme or an airforce base. Make the ride like you are pulling hard G’s like you are in a fighter jet.. pulling loops, corkscrews.. watch top gun maverick for some ideas.. I’d incorporate the drop from oblivion into the ride also… if you was to have an aircraft carrier I would say have a catapult theme to as if you was actually being ejected into the sky in a jet.
it needs a retheme on a larger scale than what nemesis has undergone (i'd like to see it in a style similar to air but with more fruitiger aero and early 2000s inspiration). that would probably mean splitting the area into 2 larger areas and extending the park area towards the car parks. apart from that i believe it could be a demolition which would be a shame.

The only issue with the remake if it was to go through the park would run into another issue which is the launch on the replacement coaster would knock rita down on its riders numbers
Either I think they should, retheme Galactica back to Air and give it more of a Phalanx look, OR make it a seperate land that isn't Forbidden Valley and retheme it to Air and finally deliberate on that stellar concept art from when it was being made.
Unpopular opinion!!!! Galactica is my favorite ride at towers😅😅. As someone who mainly visits for the signs and designs of the park(I am genuinely terrified of the feeling of being on a coaster) I LOVE galactica! I feel like it is a perfect ride for people who just don’t enjoy the intensity of roller coasters but still want to join in on the fun! Plus it makes you feel like your truly flying and the restraints are the most comfortable I’ve ever worn! LONG LIVE GALACTICA!!!
The problem is will be that Bianca Sammut won't want to lose rides as she knows that Merlin CEO Scott O’Neil doesn't want to invest in the uk theme parks as he doesn't believe that they get good returns so he's focusing on america and europe for the foreseeable.
It would be great if it was replaced with a intense family coaster like hagrids bikes so all ages could ride but still intense which somehow went over nemisis and shot it with planes if it was possible
I think a vekoma flying coaster like fly would work great. Proper speedy phalanx fighter jets, you can use galacticas station for it still, use galacticas track for theming like nemesis reborn
i think it should be some kind of phalanx airline or public transport system, but you get whipped off to fight with nemesis partway through the journey. a full pre show involving seek the truth interupting some safety video. various sections of the queue are themed to be an airport, with security (which is an interactive scene with an actor) and a duty free area that has all been closed for 'security reasons'. at some areas you have tv's being interupted by seek the truth. The pre show would involve everybody being placed into a room in a batch of 75 or so.a big screen starts showing a safety video. Around a minute in the screen is hacked and a STT member tells everyone that they need to stop the phalanx. they are then cut off by an actor (phalanx special operations unit soldier/police) or, if unavailable, a voice recording, telling everyone to put their hands up. another actor/staff member who is an airport attendent tells the solider that the people are not part of STT, and everyone is sent on their way into the rest of the queue. the guests walk through a queue which leads them to the station. the station is themed to an airline boarding gate, and the airgates in the station are full height so you can't see through. the rest of the ride is as normal until the end in which you return to the station in which red blaring lights are flashing you 'evacuate' down the exit and run through 'immigration' and past 'bag collection' and you finally exit right outside of the roller coaster restaurant. you are now facing nemesis and from that perspective everything has gone disasterdly wrong
Or keep Galactica name it Air again paint the track to make it match with Nemesis (maybe) and theme it to a fighter jet and the queue line to be themed like Nemesis but with more sky stuff
I think that they should make glactica its own area meaning glactica becomes air and we put a ride similar to forbidden journey at universal in the car park and base it to the VR part Of glactica

I think the track will still be blue because one of the stands with vending machines is M-A1X Red on nemesis side, but M-A1X Blue on galactica side

Galactica/Air without VR is like a dog without a bone. It’s a good ride without VR, but the magical element was just not there
Galactica has about 5 years left in it. They really need to have something that will replace it by the middle of the next decade.
