🛠️ water in footwell: 🚗 Renault Scenic 2 how to clean drain
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- Recently I found a lot of water in a footwell under the driver's seat. This happened after a long rain. I learned that water gets to the salon due to clogged drainage holes. In this video, I show you how to clean the drains to further water from dripping to the ground and not in the salon. Also, at the end of the video, see the effects of the long-term stagnation of water.
Hook and pull the plug, remove the protection wheel
Remove the drain valve
Remove the sealing gum
Remove the four screws and remove the panel
Unscrew and remove the wiper
Unscrew and remove the second panel
Clean out a niche and drainage from dirt and dust
My recommendation:
If You see water in the footwell of the driver, it is an urgent need to dry. I recommend removing the drain valve. I took action too late. You can see that the water ruined the electrical wiring. Windows started to not work properly, and on display, you can see a message handbrake error.

Wow I thougt I was the only one with this problem on my Scenic! thnks a lot
was having a problem with wiper blades (bearing shot) Garage Had tried to bend wiper arms towards screen and came across this video was also having this problem after a large rain fall in the uk, next job for the weekend and i am not mechanic. Thanks
This has happened once to me too. Recently it happened again, so i guess i`ll be cleaning the drainage. Thanks for showing how.
For me, it happened 3 times, but I overview this issue after each rain and dry. then clean drain system.
Thank you very much for this video, I'd have to say that I've solved this problem without taking of the protection wheel.
Thank you again.
I pleased, that my video was helpful for you! Good luck!
how did you do?
Thank you, i solve the problem, next time i just put water pipe direct in the rubber drain. Water pressure it will blow off the drain. So painful is remove plastic above the wheels
I will try that instead of removing the wheel covers. Thanks for suggesting,
Had this problem and it wasn't blocked drains. I complexly re-sikaflex'd all the body joints in this area and the floor dried up. Had a few Renaults where the panel sealant dries and cracks and lets in water (in boot too)
Many thanks probably saved me lots of money.
This happened on my modus that I have fixed. Here's a tip,if you want to get rid of the water in the storage box.... Slice the carpet on 3 slides to create a flap, now you will see sponge, cut it out, at the bottom u will now see a plastic plug which you can squeeze and push through from below to allow the water to drain. I put a small dot of silicone on this and allowed it to set then set it back in and the gap allows remaining water to drain over the coming weeks after which IL pick of silicone and replace the plug
thank you very much while it rain I found water and I don't know where it came from now I can fix it thank you
Thank you, I am pleased that you see my video and find it useful!
I solved the problem, thanks a lot for video
Thank You for response! I am pleased to hear that my video helpful!
This is a brilliant video, and I managed to get at the drain valve at the bottom of the car only. I managed to unblock it which is great and water is coming through the scuttle panel now. The problem is I still have water in the Footwells how do I get rid of the water in the footwell?
Bhavesh Solanki If there is a lot of water, then you can use a rag, and then take paper napkins that will absorb the rest of the moisture. I left the footwell open for the night. More water does not bother me there.
folletst thanks a lot for your reply man, I assumed that was the only way I have put rags in inside the footwell. I will remove the top tomorrow I have done it before as I heard water slushing in the scuttle panel! This is the first time I have had water in the footwell though. It such a hassle job though a badly designed car in my opinion!
@@folletst The water will be in the body below the footwell also so if you open a drain UNDER the car floor if you see one,
Or Drill a 10mm hole as a drain and let any water escape, then fit a rubber plug in that hole. Maybe first let things dry and even spray some anti-corrosion oil in there,
Yes this happned to me also.
We opened hole in botton floor to evacuate water. And used a small water pump as well hooked to an electric drill machine to empty the water in wells.
After a while it seems to have dried up things so
that the handbrake error message disappeared by itself.
Then assuring the drain pipes you show are clean.
I own a Renault Grand Scenic 2005 and what a piece of rubbish.
I find that if you remove the top cowl as the gentleman in the excellent video did (16mm wipers nuts,
just couldn’t make it 17mm, could they?) and then push a piece of 3-core electrical wire right down the drain tube, it unblocks easily. No need to trouble wheel arches.
You will be doing this a lot if you park under trees. On the upside, all that damp should prevent the heater motor blower fan resistor causing a fire as they have been known to.
Remember kids, “Learn mechanics.....drive a Renault Scenic”.
Hi again. So I have one more (hopefully last!) question.
I'm splicing the wires together, one by one, like you said. But I've noticed that on the connector block there are some wires that don't have a mating wire on the other side.
For example, wires 50, 51 and 52 are all double wires. They all come 'in' to the connector but they don't have a wire coming 'out' the other side of the connector.
My question is: what should I do with these wires?
I hope this makes sense. I hope I've managed to explain it clearly enough.
Thanks again.
If you think of it.....if they are not connected to anything on the other side it means you can ignore them. Just try to clean some oxide/corrosion away so you do not get bad results from some signal leaks between wires on the incoming side. On my Scenic 2 I don't know exactly how to remove plastic panels on the floor under the seat. Looks like there were no intention for anyone to ever remove them...
Hello, I am writing to you with the help of the translator, so please excuse me, I want to ask about cleaning the water drains, and on both sides of the car, do the plastics under the fenders have to be removed
thanks
Yes. Plastics under the fenders have to be removed (wheel panel)
@@folletst Did you throw that rubber flap away or just clean it and put it back in with google translate
@@krasimirjelev I throw it away
*Been told that Renault engine was way better than before, now reliable. I bought a scenic 3 2015. But had this silly issue, water in the floor ... Ruined my connectors (under driver seat).
Completely my fault, I did not read the scenic manual, I probably missed that I mustn't park my car under trees, drive while raining etc .... Last Renault !*
Hello friend, could you tell me where that connector that you show at the end of the video is located. It would be very useful to me.
Thanks an incredible job
Hello. This connector located under driver seat.
@@folletst Thank you very much your video has been very helpful. A hug!!!
Hi, I have similar situation-how did you dry your car? I have some amount of water giggling under floor(driver seat)-in service they don't have an idea-how to dry it(((
Thank you for the information. most useful
My rear windows stopped working a while ago, if I drain the water now, do you think can I still drive my vehicle with the insurance that no further damage will be caused to the rest of the electrical wiring now that the water is gone and safely assume that the rest of the car's electrical appliances won't be messed up ?
no guaranties, I think you should check electronic block under driver set and if it necessory repair it, because one time break system an be fail. it will be real problem.
@@folletst Got it, thanks for the quick answer
sorry not sure.. I have a UK version so right hand drive.. so is it under the drawer of the driver away and need to take the drawer out ? do you have image of where it is ? Or a video? thanks soo much
+Trecynon Hall I have written a private message through RUclips. There I gave a link to a photo and a description of how to get to this module.
I took action too late, now my car is not starting and the machenic guys said, i need to pay 1000euros to change all the connection is that right
Hi. Where is the electrical connection block please ?
I sold this car, but I remember that it was under driver seat.
Thank you
Hi all.. this is what I am having.. the Windows are going down, the car ain't starting on the first click of the button and the parking brake fault has come up. how do you get to that box? I have no idea where it is.. I have tried moving the chairs forward and back but nothing obvious where i can find this box.. please help! or if you have a video it would be brilliant.. thanks
+Trecynon Hall This block is located in the cabin under the front left-hand seat, or under the driver's seat. To access the elements of the open box for small items. Disconnect frame. Remove the drawer by pressing on the tabs.
Same over here . How did you fixed that ? New cable wires?
Hello, so what exactly was the solution here? Removing the valve piece from behind the wheelarch or removingbthe whole drain tubing?
1. Clean your drainage system regularly. 2. Remove valve behind wheelarch.
@@folletst cool, thank you. There is somekind of fluid noise when turning in any ways. I have to check this I'm afraid. Thanks!
@@neverenough82 I also had the fluid noise. You should act as soon as possible. Otherwise all your electronics may be damaged. Go to a car service instead of repairing it by yourself. It would not cost more than 100 Euros. Hi if you are too late then you would pay 1000 Euros for repairing all electronic.
@@hugochavez6170 hello, ah yes. Forgot to post the news: during tyre change to winter ones I've done the maintenance. Removet the "valve" piece, and cleaned the drains. Indeed a bit strange construction : I saw the holes for the vents and wires through the firewall and indeed the water can ingress to the dash once this area is filled with rainwater. Even I found a ton of mud behind the plastic wheelarch.

Picture about the disassembled area. There's no need to work from above (from the windshield.)
great video, thanks for sharing
@2:40 where on the vehicle is that corroded connector? bottom pillar?
This block is located under the driver's seat. Due to the fact that there was constantly wet and humid, wires covered in mold and it affected the incorrect operation of electronics. I threw the block and wire brushed and connect directly via shrink pads.
@@folletst can you make a video of this? I think you Will help thousand of people with this :) thanks from Holland
@@lounusa sorry, I sold this car and i haven't possibility to create new video.
Mine still has the issue even after this, bloody french cars.
Veuillez nous expliquer plus ..thank's
Où encore plus :) Dans cette vidéo, scellé toutes les étapes de préparation et le nettoyage du système de drainage. Que vous ne comprenez pas?
music is way too loud and totally inappropriate.
Ecu replace?
I think only if it impacted by humidity, see last 30 sec of video
I had ALL the symptoms of this video when my handbrake stuck on. A.A loosened it and I got to a garage. That was 2 weeks ago. Fixed now .,... £400!! BE WARNED.
A have a same problèmes
