Really nice guy. I sat at the bar with him in a small club and smoked a "J" with him. He went on the little stage and blew the walls down. Fond memory now I'm 67. :-)
Aloha hey I saw Rory in a small club in Tempe Arizona and he just tore the house down. He did some move I’ve never seen on guitar and I’ve seen a lot of rock and roll shows, Dead, Clapton, Page, Jorma , so he grabbed the high E string and pulled it up off the fretboard and did some kind of a tremolo bar move while lifting the string it was so quick I really didn’t comprehend the move and it was mesmerizing !! Rory was definitely one of the greatest slingers on the guitar, so sad he left us too early. Thank you for this post Maznour this is wonderful guitar playing. Peace ☮ and Aloha from Hawaii 🎸☮🏄🤙🌺🐬
Great album, bought it 1971 when I was a 17 y. teenager, Rory was in his own league, had the luck to see him twice in concert mid 70s I willl never forget, his records belong in every good collection, R.I.P. Rory, thank you so much MN II and hallo to all Rory fans around the world, peace...
Vedo che molte riviste specializzate e blog vari nello loro classifiche dei dischi migliori di Rory , mettono spesso in una posizione migliore l altro album del 1971..Questa album è ultrspettacolare!!!..No Paragones!!
I saw Rory in Denver in the early 80's but wa not familiar with his music then? After years of listening to his music it has grown on me like poison ivy on an oak tree!!! A quote from Jimmy Hendrix who was asked who is the best guitar player in the world he replied Rory Gallagher!!! Quite the compliment from Jimmy!!!
Hi Steve I'm listening from Perth Australia, it's about 11.20 am. So good to see that music can unite the world. 😎🖐🦘🎶🎵🎶🎵 PS I'm 82 years young this year.
I believe everyone, who interacted with him, came to the same conclusion, as now I feel once again, after listening to his music for nearly 4 hours: What a Sweet Man!
Rory died of a MRSA staph infection after receiving a liver transplant in 1995. He passed on June 14th, and was 47 years old - don't think we'll see a musician like him again, May he be always at peace 🌿🎸
It was too bad that the lp recording tech didn't allow time enough for Rory to include Gypsy Woman and It Takes Time on the initial release of his amazing eponymous album. It's so good that the 50th Anniversary Edition has plenty of space for them and more! This is an exceptional look into what Rory had to offer when he would say, "here's one you might like." @@tamsinmccormick That was part of my point. The most important part is, for that reason, he had to leave two well arranged, well recorded, quality songs off the disc. /:-)
First heard him on the album that had "Walk On Hot Coals", I think it was Blueprint probably the one after this. I was blown away from the start. I'm an old Texas blues guy and it don't get much better than the Irish blues guys. Rory and Gary Moore, the very best.
