It still amazes me that you only have 200K subs, I say only but for you, you deserve so many more, your demo's are amazing, you're such a down to earth guy and you give a lot to the guitar community. I share your channel a lot as you deserve more subs. Thanks again Pete. Mark from England.
It's one thing to be able to play all these different styles, but PT is writing them all! Another cool song idea that shows off the capabilities of the product
I used a predecessor to this unit, the Tascam US-200, for years in my home studio. In fact, only the lack of drivers for Win10 kept me from continuing to use it. I've since moved on to an X18 which of course has a lot more I/O.
I have a TASCAM US-366 with the early versions of many of this units feature like the compression, EQ, and Reverb. It sounds great but this unit seems much more ironed out. Very nice.
Pete, you are so creative. Love watching these gear videos. I remember having a Tascam 34B years ago (80's). Yes, I am a dinosaur. :) Stay safe man, all the best from Oz.
You said you can send any channel to the reverb. That is done by sending them to Aux1Bus. However there is only one reverb setting, so that same reverb setting would apply to all channels sent to reverb (to Aux1Bus). So if you had 2 mics, you could not apply different reverb to each.
Do the line inputs bypass the mic preamps? Tascam say yes and point me to the block diagram on P37 of the manual, but then people on the Tascam forum say no and point to the same diagram! Can anyone clarify? Someone also suggested the diagram shows that phantom power can also be applied to the instrument and line input as well as the mic input, which could be dangerous to some gear. I also have another question. Is it easy to use this interface with Logic (using the IO tool) to route a stereo bus audio out of say line output 3/4 and back in to line input 3/4 for processing with my external compressors etc? One guy i know says he's not got it to work. Do you simply tell Logic which channels to use or is there some config in the Tascam software too that needs to be addressed? Thanks
Hello Pete! Nice review. Help a lot! If you have a couple of minutes, I only have one more question. How about the latency? Because I would love to use live concert... and how I work, I set 2 balance exits with metronome active for our drummer. With the one I have now, sometimes dont work good and create a little bit of delay. Do you think that I could use this interface and having no delay? Pretty much everything will go from a DAW and a few (like vocals) as "real" instrument. Thanks!
Thank you very much for the review! I just noticed that the main reason because I'm here is that I would like to find out how well does the Hi-Z input perform! Did you have a chance to try it? I heard it to be a bit muffled
Bring back the 80s!...do four guys still get together and play in your dads garage?..it would have been great to have something like the Tascam 208 back then.
I am having trouble with my new audio interface the Tascam 208i. I want to send the output of channels 3&4 of my tascam into my eurorack clock so I can sync it with my daw. I don't want to hear output 3&4 through my master monitors. I only want outputs 1&2 (monitor out) to route to my monitors. How can I set this up so that outputs 3&4 on the back of the 208i do not route to the monitors (plugged into output 1&2 (monitor out)?
I have a Tascam us-1800 AI(a bit dated)...works great with Win 10 and cubase, but the mic preamps are far from being crystal clear....especially on vocals. Do these newer tascams have better preamp inputs?
Hey Pete, great review! I want to ask how about round trip latency? I am looking for low latency playing live through usb adudio/midi interface using Bias FX 2 SW. Thank for reply in advance
Hello ! Thank you for this full review ! I have to change my old ECHO audio interface, and this product seems to be very interesting ! But now i don't need all that connectivity. As you have tested the Tascam Serie i, can you say me what audio interface i should buy for the best dynamic audio quality please ? i don't have enough money for Universal Audio. The main use will be record line sources with great level and best dynamics, and 2nd use : record my guitar as nice as possible. i know the options of SSL 2, Motu M series, iD14 Mk2, and the Tascam 102i ! or should i wait for the next UA Volt ? Thank you for your help ! (i have tested the Presonus 68C but sent back because of a low line in level compared to my old Echo, but the sound quality was good).
Tascam, being a Japanese company (Teac), I don’t think has ever manufactured in the USA. You’re not going to find electronics like this manufactured in the USA 1) barely at all anymore and 2) certainly not at this price point. Caps, resistors, pots etc almost none of this stuff is produced in the US anymore. That’s the world we live in for the last 30 years or so.
@@PeteThorn Well put. I'm not sure if there's anything electronic in my entire house that's actually made in the US, at this point. Guitars, yes. Electronics, probably not.

Thanks!
Actually bought one after this demo. It really is a terrific interface with a logical panel layout. I love it.
I have this interface....It does the job well.
This is so nice to have a guitar guy check out the Tascam unit. . . I love this review and demo - very nice tune Pete!
It's one thing to be able to play all these different styles, but PT is writing them all! Another cool song idea that shows off the capabilities of the product
Every time I see a Pete Thorn video I know I’m buying something new! Another monster demo Mr. Thorn! Thank you!!
yeah, he does amazing sales videos
Reminds me I miss the strat sound that was so big in the 80s with groups like The Fixx.
Always will be a soft spot in my heart for a little compression and chorus.. OK a lot of compression and chorus
Very good demo again. Everything you need to know...and more. Also a nice sounding tune in bonus!
Wow! Incredible that you did all that in 1 day. The tune is fantastic!!!

Thank you Pete. Always love your reviews and playing. It's a nice escape from this crazy world that we live in. Keep up the great work!

Pete nice chord progression on that demo piece with the major/minor. This looks like a very useful interface.
Sounds like a great addition to another PT Album. Sweet tones and arrangement!
Definitely a step up from the Tascam US 16x08 that I bought last year. This is a great choice for a home studio. Great demo, obviously, as usual!
Hi did you directly compare them or you made a guess? Did you compare mic amps and AD/DA converters?
@@haryygeros7528 I'm comparing the features. My 16X08 does not have a built-in digital reverb like this unit does. For me, reverb is a huge need.

live the delay in the intro
Getting some strong The Smiths vibes from that intro!
Love that you added some acoustic guitar man! Sounded very clear and clean! Tascam has always made great gear! Thanks for sharing! 😎🤘🎸🎹🐦
It’s come a long way since the old 4 track cassette recorders 🤘🏽

I wonder how it compares to the MOTU M4, in terms of hardware and software. (Yes, the Tascam has more I/O obviously)

Looking to buy myself a new set of headphones for tracking and mixing with this interface, should I go with 80 or 250 ohms headphones?
Is this equipment still relevant in 2024 or is it on its last breath??
such great work you do! thanks 🙏✌️.
Great Sound !!!
