FTO is my favorite non WCA puzzle. I really do hope it gets into the WCA and I'm glad to see hardware for it finally. I have a RexTO as well as a modified lanlan and my average is sub 50. It's just such a unique puzzle compared to anything in the WCA and it's a lot of fun to learn to solve. Anybody who's on the fence, you should throw out the $18 and just give it a shot. It's not that hard to learn and its worth the effort. The solve of this thing is basically yau 4x4 with an interesting last layer.

Okay but like... why would it be the next event? It hasn't had any hardware in a decade and the best one until this point... was a shape mod, and based on the turning, it looked like it still kinda was. (I wasn't the one turning it so can't say that for sure)
Because it's a relatively unique puzzle and a lot of people enjoy solving it. The Diansheng hardware isn't on par with most other WCA puzzles' hardware, but It will likely improve in the future.
