- During his concert on 23 October 2014 in Amsterdam, Podium Mozaiek, saxophonist and flutist Praful played this solo piece by Erik Satie, Gnossienne #1. In 2014 he has released an album with many of the contemplative pieces from Erik Satie, together with the French Classical Harp player Helvia Briggen: The Silent Side of Satie
In absence of his harp playing colleague, he records a simple vocal accompaniment with a looping device, over which he then develops the composition and improvisations.

RUclips correctly identified me as a Gnossienne 1 target. Listened to it from pianists (so sad), from brass orchestras (so gaudy), on guitars (so bright), and now on the flute (so mystic). Always the same walk. Always new.
hahaha same here. This piece of music has strange effect on my brain.
@@Marko-xe7il The Howlin Wolf once stated that 'no white man ever had the Blues.' Won't dispute that against such an expert. However, I come to be pretty sure that we may suffer Gnossiennes. Hard.
Hahaha I’m currently on a similar walk my friend

what is as pure as music, if not the music itself, transcendental emotion, well-being and inner peace..... Satie for ever
Found my ultimate studying music. A whole 8 minutes and 5 seconds put on an endless loop. Amazing.
I agree, I'm craing, when I'm hearing music like that.
A haunting rendition. A word of warning, do not listen to this after taking 'shrooms. I'm not sure where my wife went, or if I'm even married, but I'll figure that out once I come down.
did you eventually figure it out? :-)
Holy shit 🤣
@@prafulmusic that statement is 4 years old and he still did not answer your question. I think he took his ticket out and is gone. Maybe next life he will listen to your music without the mushrooms.
@@PraneshSacher Hope he is well
I'm sorry.
Amazing! I Have loved this composition, but this is the first time i am hearing it with an Indian feel.
Enchanting, mystical, so so so beautiful!!
The music by Satie can be so much a part of me as soon as I hear it begin.....although his life was such a wreck!! He did throw his consort out of a second floor window.
amazing bro this music took me to the heaven
This was so very beautiful, I absolutely loved this.
Pfffff wow, my spirit left my body for a minute and came back rejuvinated. Thank you ❤
I, not long ago, purchased a Native American flute in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Can't wait to try this great piece by Satie.
How did you go??
I love it with the piano too but this is more close to my ears. So beautiful! Thank you for sharing:)
I know this symphony was originaly composed for the piano but it sounds so natural on the flute.
let's say 'inspired by' Gnossienne 1 shall we?
Enchanting and enhaunting...superb!!!

So, so lovely..I must have this.

Have you ever thought about doing some tracks off Keith jarrets spirits album?
A romanian loves it!
So deep...

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.......
How nice it is just to hear a magicians voice without the influence of electronic gadgets and trapeze gizmos.
Peace must begin with the individual and work outward.
I think Satie would have loved this!
ciekawa interpretacja
Wonderful magic rendition. Love Indian music and love Satie. Did you identify the rag ?
I discover bansuri thanks to your video. What key is this instrument please? ❤❤
This flute is in E major, it's is the classical key in India, meaning the flute that most people use to play Ragas
I want to hear someone play this on bagpipes!
Certainly a challenge. The bagpipe does not play with intensity so easily. Cannot solve this for you exactly. However, here is an approximation: ruclips.net/video/-GmftEUUXFs/видео.html
Markus-Hermann Koch well done,I like it!😁😁👍

what is the name of this instrument? it sounds amazing.
Serkratos121 Bansuri = Indian Bamboo Flute
@@prafulmusic Thank you!!
what kinda flute is that? Sounds amazing.
Bansuri = Indian Bamboo Flute
Can someone tell me what is this instrument called exactly? :)
An Indian Bamboo Flute or Bansuri
WP!
WP? Does that mean World Performance?
@@prafulmusic well played .)
So soft….cloudy…fluffery…
What flute is that? Key? Length? Bamboo? Indian? Where do I buy one?
Bansuri (Indian Bamboo Flute) - the one I'm playing here is a E-flute, which is the classical key (meaning that Indian Ragas are usually played on that flute) - exact length I don't know now, but for beginners it is recommended to start with a smaller flute, like between C and Bb - you can get them in India, or sometimes from flute players or makers all over the world - I do sell them as well, mine would ship from Germany
Thanks brother. Your performance is one of two songs my 7 year old son and I listen to every night at bed time. We call it Dad and Chris' Sleep Track. The other performance is Strauss' Blue Danube waltz. So you rank pretty high as an artist in my family.
Thanks for doing what you do and doing it so well. I hope you are following your bliss. Thrive on brother!
Can you tell me where to look for prices for one of these flutes is it e natural?
Thanks for sharing that, lovely! I am absolutely following my bliss!
Here is a link to the online shop of one of the best flute makers in the world bansuri-shop.wardhan.com - an E natural flute (western tuning) is 75 cm long and costs 185 Euros. But as I said, E may not be the best size to start with. Where do you live? My flutes are a little cheaper than those of Wardhan, if you are interested send me an email to info@praful.nl
weloveusProductions grass Valley, CA, USA. I ordered one,for $70 US and will see if it's junk or not.
Some day ill have 20 acres in beautiful northern ca with a parklike venue to showcase amazing performers like you.
I play around on a C bamboo flute I've had for some 15 years so I'm optimistic about being a quick study with the E bass. Lung capacity to be developed. Maybe ill be ligh headed too easily for a while.
great! Enjoy your flute!
:)
Maya.
anybody know what kind of flute this is?
Erin Trim Creations Bansuri = Indian Bamboo Flute
In general, I am suspicious of gimmickry in music performance. Like loop boxes or smoke machines. But this is wonderful! Very well done.
any one done this with an native Indian twin flute?
Reminds of an A24 film intro
What is A24?
@@prafulmusic it’s a movie production company. They specialize in dark effects and horror.
@@prafulmusic Talk to Me, Hereditary, Civil War, etc.
Great attempt. May be for most it just works as good as the Piano. For me, may be due to my new speakers or current context the flute for this didn't work out as well as solo Piano or multi-instrument arrangment like this one ruclips.net/video/ZkFoPGRM4t4/видео.html. But Satie's compositions deserved to be tried on all sorts of arrangements. May be I will try it on openback clawhammer banjo.
Is this musical instrument called chinese bamboo flute?
It’s an Indian Bamboo Flute, from India 🇮🇳 called Bansuri
