Actually the truck is fairly empty. The packer crushes the load up against a moveable, hydraulically operated ‘wall’. When the truck is virtually empty the ‘wall’ is positioned towards the back of the truck. As the truck fills with garbage the wall is inched forwards to make more room, usually automatically when the packer has difficulty packing into the truck. When the wall can’t go any more forwards (to the front of the truck) the compactor is full and the same hydraulically operated wall is used to eject the garbage at the dump. You can see the ejector plate and the hydraulic ram I mention as the truck drives by 0:08 N.B. On this truck the ejector plate has to be inched forward manually when the operators can hear the packer having trouble or I guess when the hydraulics `trip' (the hydraulic sytem will include a safety relief valve to protect the pump & associated pipework)..

I have one question here, I am not sure what state of Australia this is filmed in but shouldn’t all that cardboard be going into a household recycle bin? In Tasmania I think we get 2 registered hard waste days per year, a yellow recycle bin for cardboard and plastics fortnightly, general waste bin weekly and a green waste bin fortnightly. It seems to me a lot of unnecessary recyclables are going to the tip/dump in this state.
In this state in this city they used to seperate it, now with the demand of garbage and recycling being so high, they have just been sending bulky waste to landfill as sometimes it is all rotten and combined together anyway, the occasional scrappers will come by but not that often anymore

I really didn't think the last two loads were going to fit in there - that truck looked like it was about to burst at the edges it was so full. That's as full as I have ever seen one of these trucks.
Most of the things thrown out in here were already broken, rotten or damaged, I had checked myself.. I don’t think people would want a rotten mattress or a lamp that doesn’t work. We don’t have goodwill in Australia

Not sure the type of packer body that is, but seems like it isn't very powerful on that bulk. Leach 2R would crush and swallow that stuff without a hitch. Love the video though! Anyone who does this work has a difficult job!
I wish they allowed that here in Belgium LOL. Can only put 4x 44 liter garbage bags out each 2 weeks. For anything else you have to make a pickup appointment for 20$ or drive it yourself to the dump

Correct except in this truck you have to manually pull back the wall, and garbage is not ripped at the depot better yet at the tip on the other side of town

Why shouldn‘t they be allowed, this is just normal clean up collection, RL are specifically made for crushing big objects like this.
