In today's episode (episode 1 / part 1) we begin a new survival world in Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch and show new and returning players the basics of survival. This guide applies to Minecraft for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows 10, iOS and Android.
This Minecraft Survival Guide was made in 2019, and the Minecraft Survival Guide was designed with 2020 in mind.
The Minecraft Survival Guide works with PS4 (PlayStation 4) after the new Bedrock/Better Together update.

Just want to thank you again from all the parents trying to learn this game to help their little ones! My 5 year old wanted to learn how to play it because he saw it on game pass. I’m not new to Minecraft, I’ve been playing for 6 years and I still haven’t beat the ender dragon.
Edit: Me and my best friend defeated the ender dragon! I’m so happy!

To fully complete game you have to respawn ender dragon and beat it again

He ran into those zombies so quickly even during the day because Zombies wll survive the morning sun by staying under the trees because it's dimmer beneath the trees - especially in those dark brown wooded areas.
Get your wood from more isolated trees where you can clearly see what is there.

My little cousin just got minecraft for the Xbox for his birthday and he has no idea how anything works, so he turned to me for help. Unfortunately, all of my experiences with minecraft were on pc and with someone backseating all the time, so I learned nothing but how to make tools, and certainly not the right commands. This video is incredibly useful so I am not totally lost as we try to navigate the game together. Thank you so much!
Never played Minecraft because I wasn’t a fan of the visual style. Tried Dungeons on Game Pass and it’s FUN! With the time I have for gaming I need something chill so I picked up the Switch port today!

I only came here to see these types of comments I’ve been playing Minecraft for 6.5 years so as you can probably guess I’m pretty good if you need any tips just ask me I will answer as best I can and as fast as I can but I do remember the first time I loaded up a world and everything i didn’t have a tutorial so it was a bit harder for me but I still managed so again you need any tips ask me

I had this game for while. I haven't played it that much because I don't know how to play. Late night my friend invited me to play online with him. I had so much fun. Because he explained how to play. We were chatting on the phone. Now that I have an idea. I will continue to play minecraft more now. I'm still new. But I had a lot of fun.
Jan 2023. I'm an old gamer and totally new to minecraft thanks to my kid. Makes me wish I had given the game more thought back when.
I just wanted to say that I loved these videos! I will go back and Thumbs Up all of them. I have never played Minecraft and after watching the Minecraft Story Mode on Netflix, thought I might enjoy it. I went hunting for some videos to give me an idea of whether or not I'd have fun playing. Your videos are very, very welcoming to newcomers and I like how you actually play out the days - skipping overly repetitive parts like making lots of stairs - and just generally give us a feel for how to survive the first few hours of gameplay. I also enjoyed your funny quips and comments. Informative and entertaining is a great combo and you hit it perfectly for me. Thank you!
Sadly, I may or may not enjoy the game itself. I got motion sick just watching you play, so I may not be able to get into the game at all. I've never played any first person games before... well. I did try Skyrim for the PS4 and just the intro made me terribly ill. My track record with first person games is 0 for 2, if you count watching Minecraft videos.
Still, I think you should definitely make more videos like this. A lot of the "How To" vids are either boring and simplistic, or just move too fast. I liked that you just talked us through your thought processes while gaming. I have subscribed to your channel and will be watching, albeit in short bursts, all of your Minecraft videos. :)

I did start playing in February this year. But have walked away because the new Nether keeps killing me and I keep losing everything. So I am taking a break for now. 😉
Amelia Pond have you tried using a shield to help block damage and when your bridging across lava holding shift if so then yeah I do regret that offer I haven’t played much of the new nether
FLAMELORD 7000 my issue with the new Nether is the amount of spawns now. It is ridiculous. It takes only minutes to be surrounded by mobs. And I panic and fight and jump and then.... I fall in lava everytime. And I am very careful but sometimes there is a hole in the netherite and there isn’t anything you can do. I got sick of dying that way and losing everything. Because we are currently trying to get to the end. And we need blaze rods and ender pearls. It’s a mess and I had to walk away. But only for now.😉
Amelia Pond ah ok I can relate to that but back In the earlier days I would practice nothing but pvp with multiple mobs so it is a bit easier for me to deal with those situations

I'm new to watching the basement vids. And they are great!! So happy I found you guys. I have so many questions regarding enchanting.. and the best way to find emeralds and probably so many other questions. Do you have a video on the basics of enchanting... also should you go to the nether first before enchanting stuff.
Ok if you have more questions ask me but I will answer all these ones that you have already asked 1. Enchanting there are many enchantments such as efficiency, sharpness, smite, riptide, loyalty, quick charge, and soul speed I will not name them all there are to many for me to name but if you have a question about some of them that you find ask away 2. Emeralds now something you need to know is that you can get emeralds by trading stuff with villagers but however if you are mining for them GOODLUCK sorry if I sounded mean but anyways they are the rarest ore in the game when you are trying to mien for them they can only be found in high hill biomes and if you do find them they only come in a vane of 1
3. If you are thinking about going to the nether be aware it depends on if you plan to have it on peacful or not if you don’t then I recommend getting good at combat or enchanting some stuff and hope for the best

I'm stuck on how to make an efficient experience farm and I know that there was a video on how big the room has to be but I was wondering how to make it so that the room spawns but I have an opening at feet level to kill off the zombies and the skeletons. Did you say you looked at that starting spawn before starting or something? What did you mean? Can you see the map before creating??
Also when you were using the seeds to clear grass you said use ZL. Did you mean ZR?

Hi! You can't look at the map before starting, but you can start a new world, look around, and if you like it, Save & Quit, go to edit that world, and look at the "seed" number. Anytime you start another new world, you can enter the same seed number instead letting it be random, and you'll get the same world. In other words, I created two worlds with this seed - one to check out off-camera and make sure I liked it, the other to record this video.
I may have misspoken about ZL/ZR for clearing grass. I don't remember! :)

Is there a way to customize each world more? or is every world just “infinite” and “random”???
And you can try them out and find seeds you like?
And is that the fun of it that it’s so extremely massive and procedural? I’m used to games with set map sizes and parameters.
Also the first spawn is always random correct?
Pretty damn good at the game playing it on my switch more so watching to see how far u can push the switches power just to see how stable the switch version is

The Basement has saved my life lol I had to learn because my 4 year old son wanted this game for his Nintendo switch and needed help. I didn’t know it was so intricately made but it’s pretty cool. Anyways, my question is: Is there a way to keep/store your inventory in case you die? Damn monsters keep killing us 😅 constantly having to restock on the items needed after getting killed often. Thanks!!
There is a way! Press (+) to pause the game, go to settings, then game, and on the right, scroll down to "enable cheats". Once this is on, there is an option below to "keep inventory".
When cheats are enabled you lose the ability to earn achievements (not a big deal IMO), and some people might call it cheating, but I think that as long as you're having fun then that means you're playing the game correctly.
