    Ahh, nostalgia. The books are a decent jumping-off point, albeit slightly outdated in terms of crafting recipes and priorities. Good times.

      Honestly if you were a kid who bought these books at the book fair, these were a pretty good way to both start reading, and learn how to play minecraft in the days before fan wikis were everywhere (and even if they were, it was likely you were going to get 16 viruses from them lol). I remember these books, and a lot of the tips in them were genuinely helpful, like getting a compass and clock to help find your way

    These books capitalize on the energy of the early Minecraft era, when we weren't sure what was in the game and just figured it out. Minecraft wiki down for some reason, people mixing mod crafting recipes with real ones, it felt like everyone who knew their shit could write a strategy guide on the game. But everyone's would be different, not everyone knew everything yet.
    Anyone remember how the first minecraft guide smelled? I saved up money to preorder the book with my Scholastic Book Fair school, got it in a walmart bag for some reason lmao and it smelled weird, super hype but still not certain why it smelled so unique

    • @ScareBeastYT
      @ScareBeastYT 11 месяцев назад +33

      It depends on the type of editing and the type of RUclipsr. Less edited survival videos are more likely to have the music on. If the editing is more present then RUclipsrs will probably not have their music on, because they are going to put in thier own music anyway. When you look at minigame RUclipsrs they usually use music to set the mood in editing so, random Minecraft music would really mess that up.

      The Redstone one was actually half decent for its time, and taught me a LOT about basic circuits as a kid. I think it was partially authored by CubeHamster (I could be fully wrong there, someone correct me if so), so it was actually genuinely helpful.
      I don't think it explained stuff like BUD Switches, or QuasiConnectivity. It's also obviously out of date with the huge additions of the observer and target block.

    I had (and I believe I still might have it in here somewhere!) the construction handbook. The builds included in the book were actually pretty interesting, but are of course now dated due to the addition of many new blocks. The instructions however were... not exhaustive, to say the least, so you mostly had to use the given picture for reference. I distinctly remember how one build used two anvils for a cooking grill. Very creative!

    Ah, I remember reading these books at the mall when I was young[er]. That's not even talking about the ~3 books I actually bought. I gave some of them to my younger cousin who plays Minecraft on his console.
