For the past year I've concentrated mostly on fractional gold while buying a few once oz bullion coins to finish a few tubes. No regrets; it's a savings account, not an investment. What I know is that it will be worth more later than the same amount in fiat currency will be.

The dollar is ultimately long term going only one direction and that's to 0. The fed knows it, most of the people in charge know it. Like you, I have no regrets 👍

I largely agree with you. Both Silver and Gold need to be viewed as long-term holds. They need to be looked at in quite extensive time-scales of 20, 30, or even 40 years. Anyone buying Silver today and expecting any kind of guaranteed up price or even at pace with inflation in anything under a 20 year time-frame is likely to be disappointed. Also, anyone buying Silver should also be buying Gold. In terms of their wealth preservation qualities, these two metals work best when they are together. Gold tends to do better than Silver, but I think both should be held, as there can be period of volatility that affect one more than the other. Silver and Gold aren't investments. They are money. However, their functions change with the environment. In unsound money environments, they often function more and better as purchasing power or wealth insurance even though they continue to be the very standard of what money actually is. Obviously, in sound money environments, they function almost exclusively as money. Either way, in our current circumstance, I can't think of something else, other than maybe long-term food or a means of self-defense that would actually be wiser to hold than Gold & Silver.

The stock market has been artificially inflated while metals are being artificially kept low. Why the stock market is going up is a mystery, but because of the coming demand, physical silver will have to go up significantly over the next 3 years. It wouldn't be a surprise to see it top over $100oz.

    • @NapoleonicStacking

When stacking silver you always want to buy as smart and as low as possible there's those who say that they don't care how high the prices of precious gets that they will continue to buy and those are the ones who make mistakes if you buy really high when time comes that you need to sell some things you will lose money most likely it's always best not only to buy low but to see what buy back prices would be on that item and mark what you paid for each item

I agree with comment that it has been a pathetic hedge. Pick good solid dividend stocks and imagine the reward you would receive from dividend stocks. Gold and Silver are not liquid investments. It's o k to speculate but it should be within reason. Silver Stackers have lost their mind.

When the economy heads down the crapper, you can either go down the drain, or you can grab the reigns and ride the rapids. I've always believed one shouldn't live beyond their means. Always have a fair savings. Before the downward trend began this week, I bought a $5 liberty half eagle. No regrets. 3 months ago, I began stacking silver. Well over 100 ounces. Silver is a gorgeous metal, and I'm a collector. Not to mention being a metal melter, caster, and aspiring refiner.
Even if things don't go seriously south, I can be content in knowing my younger family members will benefit from my stack one day. I certainly don't wish times like these to occur. But hey, times like these can make or break a person.
Never go in with one plan. Have multiple! I work part time, by the way. Money management, and patience.

      What's a "...$5 double eagle."?
I always thought that a US double eagle was a $20 coin, an eagle was a
      $10 coin, a half eagle was a $5 coin, and a $2.50 coin was a quarter eagle.

Your not technically wrong, but what silver is capable of in the future is uncertain. In 1980 silver prices reached $50 per oz, adjusted for inflation that's a spot price of $180 today. Will it ever get that high again, I don't know. As a hedge gold has faired much better overall. Thanks for watching!

If one has religiously purchased physical Silver every month (90% pre-1965 Constitutional dimes, quarters and halves; American Silver Eagles and other nation’s bullion coins, privately minted rounds, privately issued or government-minted bars for the last ten years, you have suffered a tremendous loss in the purchasing power of all those U.S. Dollars so allocated to stacking precious metals. An investor would have been far better off buying U.S. Treasury Bonds, stocks and real estate. 🤔 However it’s quite obvious by looking at the variety of coins you have acquired that you are enjoying the hobby more as a collector, rather than purely as a precious metals stacker. I currently own very little Silver bullion in any form, and I’m not looking to purchase any more unless it trades below $11.00/oz. in the next 12-18 months.

for me gold and silver is a backup for the fiat-money crash... and if you watch german politics, you know that crash is coming. our governtment is leading us into bankruptcy, i know more people who cant afford paying the most basics things, then people who cover their bills right now... and if its crashing, silver and gold will still have a value. while our currency isnt worth the paper its printed on.

Paper money is good to have for bills and emergencies. However, the fact that the dollar has lost 98% of its purchasing power since 1913 and that we are now 31.5 trillion dollars in debt doesn't bode well for the health of our dollar. But to each their own. Thanks so much for watching!
