Thanks for sharing..using a bra as part of the padding.. I mean that’s brilliant and simple but yet 2 years later I don’t see anyone else suggesting this one option. Super video and thank you for sharing.

Laura, this is brilliant to me, who had no idea this could be done! Maybe other sewists have known about dress forms and all these details, but since I'm still in the kiddie pool of sewing... This opens up such great possibilities for me and for my grandchildren I can sew for! Thank you very sincerely!♡

I’ve always wanted a dress form but had no idea how to use it or adjust it. Your instructions are so good. I especially loved the suggestion of the padding-brilliant! Pincushion at the top also brilliant! Because of a childhood illness, I’m 2-3 sizes smaller from the waistline up, so I’m hoping to find just the right one that will help me make tops, dresses, and pants. Thank you again for a well-produced and most informative video. I can always count on your professional advice to be accurate and true. 😊

I have watched this video several times since December, when I purchased my dress form. Now that I am finally retired, I have been able to work on customizing the fit. It feels incredible to 1) have finished it, and 2) know that it will actually work for pattern fitting.
I have seen many videos on RUclips on this subject, and this was the best by one by far. Thank you for teaching me how to make the best use of this tool. I have been sewing all my life, but never felt confident about fitting patterns.
Note: seeing my actual shape “for real” is very humbling. :) But thank you again.

Many thanks xx

Thank you so much for this. I was given that dress form for Christmas a few years ago and I couldn't get the adjustments right. I actually tried to sell it and no one was interested. Hi! I must say that I have seen videos demonstrating how to make my own body-double using a second person to help fit me and so on versus buying an adjustable dress form. That may have worked for some but was just too time consuming for me to achieve. Guying an adjustable form and following your tips works best because I get the best fit possible in my me-makes while enjoying the fruits of my labor in confidence. TFS!

Laura I inherited a metal mesh form that you wear and squeeze to your body shape, take off and then snap closed down the center front. The form is mounted on a stand and reinforcement cross bars maintain the shape. I padded it so I can dress it with a pinnable stretch cover because a bit bigger is not a bad thing at my age of "letting things relax". I enjoyed your video. I recently bought that same Fabricland model and will have to try using ribbon to give a guideline to pad it out. Thank you for your time and effort creating this video! P.S.: Because of your videos I stopped colouring my hair and I do enjoy the change. Laura, you are inspiring and you look marv-el-ous darling.....just the way you are....(yes, you look stunning).

Great video. I just got my dress form and had a hard time adjusting the sizing to match my body. Seems like every time I adjusted one area, it enlarged another so not sure I got it right. I used a top that I knew fit me and knew how it fit and put it on the form. Pretty close but not perfect. Also realized how big I really was. Rude awakening! I’ll go back and use your tips. I like making the pin cushion too.

Thank you so much! I'm making a switch from just cottons in quilt making to man made fibers for fabrics. I've been researching adjustable dress forms but one thing I find in all of the is that they are not sturdy. They move when you pin or adjust them and I prefer stomething solid and unmovable. I know this might mean it won't be easy to move but do you have ideas how to accomplish this?
