I always enjoyed your motorcars of Atlanta stories. So I decided to go visit the showrooms, and I have to say I was blown away immediately.
@@stevenrmclaren would have to be an SDS200 or the older BCD996p2 although I'm not sure the 996p2 does GPS based scanning. Either way most law enforcement has or will very likely go encrypted .......so a scanner is debate ably only of limited use for the cost. The 996p2 is an older model and will be phased out used ones go $400-$500 the SDS200 or its sister handheld the SDS100 run up to $700 plus options IF you can find one in stock. I got mine a few months ago and its a masterpiece of a scanner but he state police around here went fully encrypted years back. Either way you have to have a good level of experience listening to understand and know what you are hearing.

Last time police had a speed gun on me I had just whipped through first gear and was hard into second after a wide corner. Saw the officer and immediately switched to forth and tapped the beaks just enough that it wouldn’t be too noticeable as an admission of guilt. As I passed the cop car sweating I glanced over to see him smile and give me a thumbs up. I was doing the speed limit. Thank god I drive a miata….

To be fair, to most non car enthusiasts the SLR looks like an old coupe Merc so its pretty easy to conceal it.

I remember being around 12 or 13 when these cars came out. Its crazy to think that it was that long ago that these wonderful cars came out.
I'm absolutely grateful that I grew up during the 2000s, there was a lot of cool things around during that time.
The design didn't change much in the last 20 years. new Benzes have LED lights, more screens and are rounder but the general layout didn't change. The differences between cars from the 50s,60s,70s,80s and 90s is much bigger. Accept for the VW Beetle ofc
They still look like modern cars. The slr was a timeless design

I'm just waiting for somebody to go all skunkworks and build a radar deflecting/redirecting shaped car. Then cover it in radar absorbing paint(black or dark grey of course). Then fill it with all the goodies you can imagine for detecting/jamming radar. At that point cause of the sheer pile of money spent at that point. Even make it hide from thermal cameras by directing all thermal excess beyond ambient temperate to exit behind the vehicle. For quick thermal signature dispersion due to the rapid moving air behind the vehicle. So you end up with a invisible car to all but the naked eye. Maybe even go as far as to make a combined nvg/thermal overlay for a heads up display. So you can run at night with either legal yet extremely smoked out lights all around. Or just have kill switches for the lights as you don't need them. Getting the windows to cooperate with the whole radar absorbing/redirecting scheme to the rest of the body would be intresting in of itself. Without just outright getting rid of the windows and going to a full digital display. Simulating the presence of windows. Although doing so would mean you could easily make a display for the nvg/thermal overlay. Without having to do some sort of heads up display that reflects on to the glass/windows. Cause it would just be another input for the displays you use for normal viewing. Mind you this is all totally forgoing any sort of legal limitations doing something like this would surely violate. Let alone the huge risk to yourself and others on the road by driving such a car on open roads.

The "paint" on stealth aircraft is iron based Or has iron chips in it to absorb radar waves iron being dense an all.
Could paint a car instead of metallic flakes use iron flakes.
Thou I'd thought the paint would have to be quite a thick to have any sufficient stealth effect.
There are plans afoot to remove windows from commercial aircraft to be replaced with LCD screens. To make the fuselage stronger and to reduce construction costs.
Sound a bit claustrophobic to me....
The catch is that radar and radio jamming is not the normal kind of illegal, it's the "oh we'll fucking find you" kind of illegal.

You need none of the fancy stuff. All you have to do is attach a large spinning disco ball Infront of your vehicle with a shield between it and your car to keep from blinding yourself. Theyll never get a speed reading on you. I'd also go as far to say they won't even remember to point the gun at you to begin with

There really is an aspect of this being a game. You buy the best laser/radar countermeasures, and the cops have to get better equipment to do their job. 'Round-and-round it goes, and all the tech improves. And, the manufacturers keep being employed.
And, before anyone criticizes the hooliganism of fast driving, these must be the most attentive drivers on the road. They are paying attention to everything... playing the cat-and-mouse game.

@@DarkGT It matters on the state you are in but since there is no federal regulation on laser jammers, how many states cannot ticket you for using one, radar jammers are very much illegal, but laser jammers are not, radar jammers are illegal because there is federal regulation against them, I am speaking about the United States

Check Amazon. They do have some on Amazon. They are selling a massive protection package online with ALP's. Randenso has a new built in detector which they are releasing shortly so all the energy and parts are going to that. Chip shortage has affected the radar detector industry. Some retailers might have some detectors around too.
Our shop loves when rich guys come and try to get something done in 4 hours or a certain window. We get to be the people that tell them no. They are so use to having "Yes Men" it's great to say No and their money doesn't mean they get special treatment.

@@sparks6177 unless you have a lane or system designed for it like in Germany not speeding is the safest way.
@@allthingsawesome8298 not really, driving too slowly is just as dangerous as driving too fast, and according to studies that have been done people on average know what speed is safest. But instead of a speed that’s based on an average of what people feel comfortable going, we have a system based on that but then slowed down anywhere from 15-25 miles which would be considered dangerously slower then what it should be. There’s a RUclips video that explains it better but you get the idea
