As someone in a panhellenic sorority I'm amazed by how different it is trying to get into a pan-hellenic sorority. I love the level of respect and decorum that's part of it, as a member or as a PNM. It seems like being in a pan-hellenic sorority is such a great privilege and I think that's so cool.
Thank you ladies for this video. So beautiful to see beautiful black women from different organizations coming together and dropping not only sorority knowledge but life skills.
I have a question....How can we approach someone if at times we're always looked down at for wanting to know more. I know you said ask the nicest one, but if no one is nice then who can we approach? And why is it so bad to ask members of different organizations? everyone didn't grow up knowing about Greek. I like to get different view points on all organizations (even white organizations). but unfortunately, sometimes black Greeks aren't as friendly....what do we do then outside of google?
If no one in that organization is nice, you may want to re-evaluate whether or not that organization deserves you and your hard work. Also, there are so many outlets, events, panels, etc where people would be happy to answer your questions. You just have to find those opportunities
um anonymous hello, I am a member of a black greek organization. I went through something similar on my campus where many of the ladies were not that approachable. I agree to some extent with the previous comment. I just disagree about giving up if no one is approachable. If you pledge will only be in that chapter through college. So if you want to be a member of the organization do not let the attitudes of others deter you. Cause they are not the only members of the organization. I would research the organizations online. Then just look at what type of events do on campus, do they align with your values or interests. When you become interested in one go to there events to make your interest known. They will pick up on your interests eventually. But you have to realize that there is a lot of stuff you will not know about being a member until you are actually one. That's just how it is lol
holligolightly1 sorry if it was mistaken as me saying "give up". Yes these organizations go on after college, and sometimes graduate chapters are better solutions depenDing on the person. However I do believe that if people in the organization on your campus aren't friendly whatsoever you should consider whether or not that chapter in college is for you. But the grad level may be because you tend (my opinion) cross older people with different mindsets
Shaakira White thank you for clarifying. That is true. I see your point. However, it is sometimes not as easy to pledge after undergrad (for many reasons). Years may past before a person gets the opportunity. So that is why my advice is to pledge in undergrad.
alex tabb You should try to attend the Informational meeting of the organization of which you're interested. All of the D9's foster similar principles, however we have different national initiatives and programs. Observe the members of the chapter that mirror characteristics of your personality and perspective. Good job Ladies! Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Fall 98' Ace Club, Western Michigan University, Tau Delta Chapter.
Honestly a good google search will provide you with SOOOOO much information. Look up the National website, look for books, and articles about the organization and the NPHC, look up prominent/famous members, do they have a national or regional philanthropy? Do they have any national programs or initiatives for the community? Look up their mission statement, their mascot, their slogan/motto...etc...but the internet is a great place to start.
Great question but it shows that you have a long way to go. These organizations were part of the Civil Rights and the Women's Rights movements and have a lot of great history and societal contributions. They are part of black culture and history. Google is your friend but there are great books out there as well. Start with their international websites. Good Luck!
and so was martin Luther King jr and he was an agent ....soros is not black culture ......our history is way older than civil rights , and slavery as many of u believe
This video made me wish that I had attended an HBCU. You ladies are physically beautiful and I can tell that you all have beautiful souls. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
Hey, if you go to a PWI they also have black greek organizations as well & you can join a sorority if it’s really what you want to do … I go to a PWI & I am a freshman atm & I’m thinking about joining one as well !!
So don't friendly bob and don't be direct 👀🙃 so how should I approach? Because Being apart of the sister hood is my main objective, what if I don't click with the person I approach ? Like it's kinda confusing /slightly intimidating too
Because they want to feel important. I can volunteer without getting my ass beat or wanting so desperately to fit into these organizations that are outdated. I can also do it for free without paying yearly dues. You’re good until then dues ain’t paid
Thank you for posting this! I am a member of a fraternity, although not the Divine 9, and I have always wondered how your experience and organization’s expectations compare to mine. I must say they are exactly the same. I also 100% agree with knowing what the organization is about before joining and making sure you have something to bring to the table to make the organization, other members, and yourself better in the long run.
I would join but I don’t do that hazing shit I will fight 😂😂😂😂 I would quit on day 1 when they try to blind fold you I’m good love . Ain’t no sands bout to burn over here .
Shaunetanique Burns nah this most definitely still do that . They still be beating mfs to be in there. At my friend college ain’t no more Aka cause they killed a girl .
I love this video!! My friend is a Zeta. I have so many questions. I’m sad because instead of going straight to college I decided to have a family. I’m in school now and interested in being in a sorority but sad it’s not possible now.
it's nice to see Greek Unity. I wished there was a member of SGRho, to have all the sororities accounted for. But this is some cool info. I'm a lot older, looking up and researching info. Not that many 25 and up people are speak about joining while attempting to finish their undergrad, so any information and tips is very helpful.
If you are older than the typical age for undergrads, I would advise you to seek membership via an Alumnae/Grad chapter once you graduate. You are never too old to seek membership because our sisterhood is for life. Many Grad chapters have members of all ages. It is the Grad chapters that ultimately run the organizations and there is much work to be done. I know of a member who joined at age 60 because she always wanted to join our organization and was willing to work. So find a local Alumnae/Grad chapter close to where you live and start getting to know them by attending their events, participate with them in community service opened to the public, and attend an interest meeting when you are ready to move forward. Good Luck! Member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
i dont believe its more difficult. The grad chapters do not always have membership every year. You May have to wait several years before even getting an invite. So you will have to attend their events possibly for years but the good thing is you will get to know many of them much better. If being in a BGLO is for you .. then you'll wait the allotted amount of time. I always say time will pass regardless so might as well be doing something productive.
You can inquire and it’s not necessarily by invite only. If you know someone who is active grad, you need to go to them and find out about their chapter. Grad chapters don’t have a line that often though.
Definitely true. Do not post anything on social media about the org you're interested in. And ONLY tell sisters in that org that you are interested, its not something your friends need to know.
Rod Williams As Of Now I'm In A Highschool Sorority And I Had To Do The Same Thing . You're Not Supposed To Tell Anybody What Sorority/Fraternity You Want To Be In Because In Case You Get Accepted For That Line Nobody Is Supposed To Know That You're On It Until You Cross .

Hi my name is Whitney, and I have always been very interested in being a part of the Greek family, and I really appreciate the advice that you all gave in this video. One thing really stood out to me, and that is when y'all spoke about the quiet, shy, 4.0 GPA student that is not very social or very good at networking and my question is what advice would you give that person? I am that student honestly and I've just always been more conservative and shy until I warm up, get to know people, and see that the other person is being genuine and I would really like to work on being more outgoing. Do you have any words of wisdom that could help me? Thanks in advance 😊

Oh my goodness, hi. I’m so happy that your vlog was recommended to me. All I could do was smile throughout. Spring 93’ Louisiana Zeta chiming in. It is just so wonderful to see the unity still alive. As a Pan Hell president, I gave talks on many topics. This one topic about how we all started out wanting true justice, equality, enlightenment, elevation, and a free mind for our people was always at my heart. At the startup, each had a strength that when combined formed a powerhouse. There will always be strength in numbers when everyone has the same agenda and end game. Please continue to pass the message down. Also, take our letters where they haven’t been yet with Zeta Love 😍😘🥰.

Great job in speaking in ways to relate to this new generation while also keeping in mind the business, service and academic focus of our Divine 9 Organizations. I am a proud Spr. '95 initiate of the Beta Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha (Virginia State Univ), and currently work in student affairs. I will be using this video to educate some of our students. Great work!
This video is 4 years old but is still the best video i’ve found so far ,, thank y’all!!
YES FLORIDA GREEKS STAND UP! You ladies hit ALL the nails on the head! Well done! #GreekUnity

Briana Joy question when ur pledging if u get something wrong or do something bad what was the punshiment in a sorority
There shouldn't be a "punishment" other than to try it again. Anything other than that is hazing, which is illegal.
I know you're not necessarily supposed to say what organization you want to be, but I can honestly say I'm very interested. This video was VERY helpful. I've been looking up and down for videos like this and for some reason today this video popped up and I'm truly grateful! I can't wait.
Came across this by accident, but I'm soooooo going to show this to our potentials. It's not just NPHC; it's for all organizations. Thank you, ladies :)
Girl yall better put some blue and gold up there!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-YIP
Hey Soror
💙💛💋
ari1129 Hello Sis!!!
Ashlay Douglas I think the mis conception is that this is okay, unknowingly dealing with "ancient spirits" and free masonary. Yes there are christians involved. ..... because some 1, has convinced them its okay. Jesus refers to this as the blind leading the blind. I just so happen to be a man. and seeing so many men fall into the same mind state of followers in local communites, drugs. robbing. etc just because some 1 convinced them it is okay. now what you're doing is not illegal. in the eyes of the law. but it is immoral in terms of the house of the "" Lord. getting ppl. to join a secret society is not soul winning "" for the Lord. Jesus. the deciever always. .... makes ppl, think something is okay when its not. aka Lucifer. ancient wisdom and free masonary linages are " Satanic. the same way he has convinced ppl same sex marriage is okay. and lots of other things. 1 reason the world is falling apart. .... these pledges and oaths are demonic.
Slayton701 you tired fam?
As someone in a panhellenic sorority I'm amazed by how different it is trying to get into a pan-hellenic sorority. I love the level of respect and decorum that's part of it, as a member or as a PNM. It seems like being in a pan-hellenic sorority is such a great privilege and I think that's so cool.
Thank you ladies for this video. So beautiful to see beautiful black women from different organizations coming together and dropping not only sorority knowledge but life skills.
My High School teacher(he’s a Kappa). Showed us this video my Senior year in school. Here I am in College watching as a ZeTa💙
Saying this to thank you all for the video.
Wow 😭 That’s amazing Soror! Welcome 💙
Thanks Soror! I’m Spring’19 but I don’t have Neos yet so I’m still a baby!....Happy Centennial Year. 💙🤍💙🤍
Thank you ladies. I'll take your advice. Thanks for responding.
I always hear a lot that we should do our research, but what exactly are we researching besides founding dates and line members?
alex tabb You should try to attend the Informational meeting of the organization of which you're interested.
Good Luck!
look up the truth behind it , how it was started and WHY !
and so was martin Luther King jr and he was an agent ....soros is not black culture ......our history is way older than civil rights , and slavery as many of u believe
I'm an undergrad transfer at FGCU! This was so helpful.
Like it's kinda confusing /slightly intimidating too
Go to their events, do community service with them, and if they are in groups like tutors, etc., join some of those groups to get to know them.
BEAUTIFUL!! ALL YOU NEED IS ME, SGRHO IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT!

This is so insightful!! Y'all answered a lot of my questions. I feel more than prepared for GreekLife.
6:20
Why?
How do you express interest without talking or asking questions? 🤔
this was very helpful, first year at a hbcu and i had a lot of questions 😩🙌🏾 thanks girls
why do you have to go through all that to join an organization that is supposed to help people?
They don’t really help people and most of them don’t get along in their chapters. They have cliques within the sorority.
Because they want to feel important. I can volunteer without getting my ass beat or wanting so desperately to fit into these organizations that are outdated. I can also do it for free without paying yearly dues. You’re good until then dues ain’t paid
Bcs they wanna help ppl duh
@@babymck09 You are generalizing and in such a salty way. Not a good look for you.
Derek Harris exactly shits ass lol
I don't think she's light skinned. Medium, rather than light.
Julia Roberts true
Julia Roberts true i am lighter than her and consider myself Pecan tan😊
Colorism is real
Jeez!! You get her points she is in the lighter skinned family! Don't get away from their points
Does it really matter though?
Thank you for posting this! I am a member of a fraternity, although not the Divine 9, and I have always wondered how your experience and organization’s expectations compare to mine.
I must say they are exactly the same. I also 100% agree with knowing what the organization is about before joining and making sure you have something to bring to the table to make the organization, other members, and yourself better in the long run.
How is it not genuine to give someone a compliment ? Some people are just really nice and bubbly people because that's just who they are.
Queen Chrissy you answered your own question, they stated if the person wasn’t being genuine.
Good job soror 💙 in utilizing your platform to speak about Greek life! Spring '94 EK Purdue University 🕊
defblue1994 soooo sweet! ΒΘΖ Norfolk, Va..Spr 15 💙💙💙💙💙
you mentioned it's time consuming.. how do you balance outside life such as work, and organizations?
I would join but I don’t do that hazing shit I will fight 😂😂😂😂 I would quit on day 1 when they try to blind fold you I’m good love . Ain’t no sands bout to burn over here .
Hazing is illegal. But some may still try though.
Kimberly Moena’ 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭ong

Y’all watch too many movies 😂😂. None of that stuff happens anymore
Shaunetanique Burns nah this most definitely still do that . They still be beating mfs to be in there. At my friend college ain’t no more Aka cause they killed a girl .
Thanks for this. Wasn’t joining a sorority but talking about being we’ll rounded really blessed me and helped me. Thanks
I loved this! All the ladies have wonderful points & this information is priceless. Trust & believe I listened & learned. Thank you for your insight.
I love this video!! My friend is a Zeta. I have so many questions. I’m sad because instead of going straight to college I decided to have a family. I’m in school now and interested in being in a sorority but sad it’s not possible now.
This helped me so much! And all of yall are so beautiful and insightful, thank you 🖤
😂😂 “and I’m not fat”
Love you ladies and the organization y'all represent. Keep on doing a good job. Loving each sorority.
it's nice to see Greek Unity. I wished there was a member of SGRho, to have all the sororities accounted for.
But this is some cool info.
I'm a lot older, looking up and researching info. Not that many 25 and up people are speak about joining while attempting to finish their undergrad, so any information and tips is very helpful.
Thank you, and I apologize that one wasn't pictured.. ours aren't on the yard. And there's no age limit, if you wish to do it, go for it.
Shaakira White no need to apologize, y'all gave more information than many other videos. Not smugly, just facts. I appreciate all of it. 😊😊
Good Luck!
Member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
rhoyal6 thank you ☺
rhoyal6 what is the typical age for under grad?
why is it difficult to pledge after undergrad
JessicaMikaylaa because it's invite only
JessicaMikaylaa so its best to wait until after grad?!
"Best" is whatever you choose
i dont believe its more difficult.
Yo I've graduated, never went Greek. I just wanted to say I saw thumbnail and wanted to say I really love all y'all's hair. Looks great
I love this. This is so eye opening. I appreciate the knowledge ladies. thank you!
This old school AKA (Spring 89!) loves what you are doing! Keep it up!
The girl with the braids look and sound soooo familiar...
Is it true that you're not supposed to tell anyone or post on social media what sorority you want to be in?
Definitely true. Do not post anything on social media about the org you're interested in. And ONLY tell sisters in that org that you are interested, its not something your friends need to know.
xoxoTL I didn't see any content on your channel. Is it coming soon?
xoxoTL nevermind, I found it. 😄
Why shouldn't you say?
Rod Williams As Of Now I'm In A Highschool Sorority And I Had To Do The Same Thing . You're Not Supposed To Tell Anybody What Sorority/Fraternity You Want To Be In Because In Case You Get Accepted For That Line Nobody Is Supposed To Know That You're On It Until You Cross .
hey girls , im a freshman in highschool (class of 2023) at kipp sunnyside in houston Texas , have a 3.8 GPA , and girls at my school usually want to befriend me because I have my mind set on my goals , I’m only 14 but I want to join a Greek organization at my dream university of TSU , so Thankyou for creating this content of tips , and informing me on being in or joining greek organizations .
I just wish all of these young beautiful sisters many years of happiness and accomplishment.
Thank you for the time and conversation.
THIS VIDEO RIGHT HERE! Very helpful, VERY REAL, just in love with all of it
Ladies, what an awesome job! I stumbled across you video! Kudos... i pledged in 86 and its funny how this advice was just as timely then as it is now! D9 rocks!

Thank you for sharing!!! 19💖💚08.
Good video! One time for growth! I feel like videos are better than panels for topics like these
Howard Milligan, Jr. thanks Howard! And I agree, panels really aren't helpful at all lol
Thank you so much for this video. I really enjoyed it, this gave me a totally different view on sororities and some of their members. You all had really beautiful spirits. Thank you again

Hi speaking for Deltas: They don't say we are bullies. I always hear people say we are "down to earth and we keep it real".
misunderstoodkj y’all are known as bullies and mean at a lot of HBCUs and PWIs
Well it does somewhat depend on where you are from or go.
Awesome advice ladies! Very well articulated!
Thank you!
Beautiful educated black women #myweakness
Lol thank you
They are extremely gorgeous
Proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Third generation Zeta, as well! I 💙 my Sorors! Enjoyed this video, as well
I wish I had seen this video sometime ago because my daughter wanted to pledge and was shunned because she didnt know where to go or who to talk to.... They made it so difficult....

You ladies are beautifully stunning, poise, and intelligent! I will definitely keep these things in mind as an incoming freshmen in college :)!
Great job ladies. Way to show unity and tell it like it is.
As a member of Kappa Beta Gamma International Sorority, you ladies make me proud to be Greek! You women exemplify class, honor, and respect which is what Greek Life as a whole stands for. I wish you all the best in life and in your respected organizations. Keep up the great work! #LoveInKappa #CrossGreekLove 💙💛
When you're at the greek letter altars, Mason/eastern star altars, etc what god are you performing those rituals and ceremonies for? Yeshua Hamashiach (JESUS) is the true light, and we are to put the light on the lamp stand for the world to see. The sororities, fraternities, secret societies all say they have a light, but it's under the lamp stand with a veil. When you cross over what do you think you're crossing over to? When you get your new name who are you? When you take the oath who is it to? Think of the words you use while at ceremonies... being spiritually weak and spiritually d3ad are real, and it leads to falling into darkness. Repent and turn
Great video, Soror!!! Very informative!!! Wish we had took this approach back in the day.
What do you think of what Mrs. Diana did when she represented you're sororities at dance competitions
Thanks ladies for your advice
My daughter is on her jr yr in high school n is interested in joining a sorority.. I myself is considering as well .. I told start researching each chapters .. this video has hit it on the head
Thank u ladies for clarifying
This video is great like you have no idea! I really appreciate all of this advice
This was very good..great advice for anyone trying to join any D9 organization and what comes along with it , I'm a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Shariah Thompson Heeeeeeeeyyyyyy Soror!
This is all super true, especially about what you are going to bring to an organization. Quality over Quantity
Soooo true. We can't get consumed in numbers. Thanks for watching!
No problem I loved it and happy early Founder's Day to you all!!! 😊
I LOVEEEEEEEE this video, this helped me out SO MUCH , and cleared up lots of questions and stereotypes! Thank you guys and you all are so PRETTY 😍😍😍😘😘😘
Great advice Greek Sisters!! Totally accurate. 💓💚
Question. Why its such a secret? If you are for the Black community, why deny individual or haze them?
This was a great video you should do one with each of your frat as well
Roshaud Bailey agreed.
Roshaud Bailey u
The only real frats and sorors are Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta....

I love this video so much!!!
Thank You for this lol, and you all are so pretty 😍
When she say well rounded does that mean I can be on the dance team to ?
I wish you wouldve taken some time to find a member of Sigma Gamma Rho so that all NPHC sororities are included.
Maybe they don't have any on their campus. There were none on my campus when I pledged.
This video is very informative & real. I so appreciate this. 🙌🏾💕 thank you so much for this.
