I was thinking of starting the "Bidding" at US$2500, I think if I was charging for it it would be like US$3000. I will cover the first US$200 of shipping. Send a bid to bellexim@yahoo.co.uk. I am not sure how long I will let the bidding go for, but I think a month. Although with these big ticket items 3 months might be more reasonable. If it doesn't go after 3 months I'll throw it up on that sword blog/items for sale site for US$3000 (still for charity, but like, if it's going to takes ages to sell I might as well charge its true worth for charity).

In response to your musings, yeah, brass is the one that is a huge pain to drill. One of the big issues is the way it chips there is a tendency for it to grab the bits and really screw stuff up, which is why sometimes you may hear some machinists talk about "brassing off" a set of bits, which refers to slightly dulling part of the bits to prevent (or at least reduce) the grabbing, then sticking them aside and reserving them for use only with brass and certain plastics.
Playing the zelda game with my mom when I was a kid is some of the best memories I've got growing up she passed in 2010 since then I've become a bit obsessed with the zelda franchise my collection is pretty fricking serious and I need this beautiful sword it would mean the world to me

Man it's sad he only will get 3k if even that. This kind of masterpiece should go for 10k easily. So sad such beautiful craftsmanship is not worth what it truly should be worth. What an amazing job that zelda sword was. You sir are a talented man.

The hexagonal cross-section was replicated. It's totes accurate, like the examples in history. If you's gonna use the hexagonal cross-section, y'gotta make it have less weight so it's more effective. The diamond cross-section usually counts as bein' lighter AND sharper. The Falchions in Fire Emblem (the series) have the diamond cross-section. But the hexagonal cross-section has more durable edges while havin' the weight (like the Master Sword in the manga adaptations where it's got the weight that's heavy fer folks not chosen to be its masters).

That is because we spell it different : Aluminum and aluminium are two names for element 13 on the periodic table. In both cases, the element symbol is Al, although Americans and Canadians spell and pronounce the name aluminum, while the British (and most of the rest of the world) use the spelling and pronunciation of aluminium.

Nice one this. Have to point out, welding Aluminium is just like you experienced, it doesn't flow like steel no matter how high you crank the amps, you just have to deal with it behaving like snot.

Every time I ever sheared a piece of steel it got slightly bent. Most small shears have the blade on a hinge, the arc of blades travel during the cutting action bends the workpiece. I assume a large, industrial guillotine type shear wouldn't curve the piece.
If you pored gasoline on a block of dry ice and lit it would it be hot to touch or cold?

For those awkward shapes like you have at 21:00, I use a height gauge on a granite surface plate.
So the tungsten ime works better on aluminum when its not too pointy, but still tapered. ill usually just flatten the tip real quick before switching over. Aluminums heat dispersion capabilities are amazing so preheating a thicker piece never hurts. I try to really melt the piece before introducing the filler rod.

Just had a thought while u had to sit down to do the weld on the handle part..maybe make a table with feet u can change the lengths on so can raise it and lower it when needed. Other than that keep up the great work and great vids 👍

Copper is bad when drilling because it is really gummy but I don't know about brass because I have only drilled brass on the lathe with it centered

The master sword looks awesome! I'd like to see you make either the Marauder's battle axe or the Slayer's crucible sword from the video game Doom: eternal.
I got a good idea for a Build;
a straight, narrowish sword (knight sword?) With a Lightsaber-inspired Hilt 🙌🏻💯 for a Charity MicroBuild you could do just a Lightsaber type Hilt with a neat belt clip on it
Or a Mock Lightsaber; a Detailed hilt and a steel rod to mimic the blade of a lightsaber. You could use the Blue metal stain stuff to make the blade the signature Blue saber 🙌🏻

Couldn't you wrap a handle before you weld it on? As long you carefully protect it once the welding. Seems like it might be easier, if somewhat more risky.

If I remember correctly, Periodic Videos went over the debate and said that there was a big conference to standardize element names and it was decided a few of them would get the American name and Aluminium would get the extra i.
