"the irony of making a gay sword straight" cracked me up, like so many others in the comments here.
What I liked most in this video was his search with the chemicals to get the colors right. It didn't go as expected, there was a lot of experimentation and things breaking, but they turned out perfect in the end.
It's the smaller parts of the gesture, like that, that really make it great. For me it was the note on the design sheet about recessing the colour panels to protect them from damage.
The colored inlays on the spine look a little bit like you're collecting the Infinity Gays to defeat Thanos, and that just makes it funnier to me. Will watch the whole video once I have a chance to sit still for an hour.
OMFG... Infinity Gays might be the best thing I've read on here in a long time. Fantastic.
Hopefully whoever wins the auction mounts the sword with a rad plaque that names the sword "The Infinity Gay Sword".

I like the idea of metal inlay. Next time, you should try braising straight copper or titanium into all of them. They can both get the full spectrum with flame coloring. Titanium can also be chemically oxidized using electrolysis which is a bit more forgiving with the timing.
Another option would be to use Corundum inlay. Ruby and Sapphire are both the same mineral. What people don't often know is that you can get them in a full range of colors, not just red and blue.
Edit: If you ever want to make a brown oxide on copper, submerge it in a fully saturated solution of baking soda and water, extra baking soda is fine. Keep turning the pieces every couple of hours for a day or two. The solution will turn a light blue while the copper piece will turn brown. This oxide is fairly durable and will prevent green oxide from forming. I use technique when I make bird boxes so the wood doesn't get stained green.

I'm pushing 70 now and can finally get away with being myself, and fuck anyone who doesn't like it. I strongly recommend learning some self defensive martial arts. My personal style is a mix of aikido, jeet kune do and some dirty tricks I learned in the USAF fifty years ago. I haven't had to use any of it for forty years mind you. Maybe just knowing I have the reserve shows and keeps people from getting physical.

I still consider myself a christian but I haven't been an active church goer for nearly a decade. Mainly because of the reasons that churches are just ran by people, and people are flawed, and most of the time these flaws involve the rejection of other radically different people.
What HOPE is doing is pretty good, Im straight and no longer as religious as I was when I was 12, but I fully respect what they're doing. Because what the Bible boils down to is really just "learn to love, stop being an absolute arse"

@@deece1482 Honestly, forced 'love' and fake positivity is far worse than just learning to embrace inevitable things like hate and anger rather than completely ignore those things well into adult life. They're some of the most toxic people I know and often pathetically passive aggressive. It's important for people to learn to come to terms with things like hate whether it's their own or from others, people can't hide from it forever. It's especially important for men in particular, there's a reason sons raised by single moms are 15x more likely to commit r*pe and even more for violent crime, it's because they became emotionally weak and inept at dealing with things men do women have no idea about as they likely hardly even began to accept certain things(that women think they can just not allow forever) let alone learn to live with them. Women are wrong to think they can raise boys to be men better, we're learning that the hard way. I don't understand people that seem to think you can't both love and hate, so many so-called 'misogynistic' men actually have the most love for women, at least traditional feminine women which women have been brainwashed to think only 'misogynistic' men want that and it's hatred of women in general.
Women act like all women are just entitled to unconditional love from men, that's bullshit, pretty much only kids should get unconditional love from parents and other family members and that's about it. I can hate certain kinds and types of women nearly as much as I can love others, the kind of love where you're willing to make great sacrifices including your own life. Women don't love the same way as men at all and are wired to resent and even hate men they see as 'beneath' them, hence why women prefer men at least equal in every way and preferably superior in as many ways as possible and women suck as leaders of men for the most part and also for many other reasons. Men are wired to love and even respect women they see as inferior in many ways, not inferior in the way women think.
Women are the ones that tend to hate inferiors at least if they're grown men, they can also be incredibly delusional for reasons they find to see men as 'inferior' like not being college educated meaning she's 'smarter' or even more knowledgeable as if you can't educate yourself. Often times all it takes is one metric where you're 'inferior' and that's all it can take is that one, it's one reason encouraging women to be as competitive as men when it comes to college and income was a big mistake IMO, as it doesn't benefit most women OR men in the big picture. Neither sex benefits from women doing 'better' when it comes to those things, women overwhelmingly benefit the most from men being more successful at certain things. Most men and women aren't benefiting from 'sexual liberation' in the big picture, just the top 5% or so of men that can BOTH have their pick for sex and marriage, but most women can't have that both ways.
Women also don't get that men that don't respect promiscuous women, it's not that they don't respect women it's that they don't respect women that are easy when it comes to sex. Why should they? Even well below average women can get sex from some of the most attractive men if they're early 20's and easy for the most attractive men. That ends up ruining even average or lower women for the overwhelming majority of men for anything serious and sex with them loses meaning and value besides. For women even one past partner can raise divorce rate from 4% to 28%, it makes that much difference. Even a one night stand can do it. Men at least should respect women that understand how men value sex that are willing to make that sacrifice in hopes of getting marriage from the best man possible instead of just used for sex by the men they wanted the most and resenting the man that had enough love for them to marry them.
@@deece1482 Also fwiw, even having been attractive enough to get asked out and persisted by dozens since I was 12 and still getting attraction from much younger women at 38, I've always stayed celibate outside of serious relationships because I've always realized sex with women you're not serious about especially when you're the one they want the most and they're still young and vulnerable(particularly when virgins) it causes a lot of emotional damage and trauma. Even having given up adult content 9 years ago I've been single and celibate all that time, never once used a woman for sex and I'm damn proud of that.
It's sad that asking women to at least try their best to stay celibate outside of relationships and be faithful when in them is too much to ask, let alone saving it for marriage. There's a reason so many women ask for open relationships now, they can't actually get relationships let alone marriage from the 'best' men they're used to having sex with. Sex is a major way men feel loved back, so it's important it still has some meaning and in that case it doesn't. Women can bang all the top 5% men on Tinder they want and literally kill their unborn children when the birth control fails and act like men are a bad person for God forbid making them feel shame for that, then have the audacity to shame men for refusing to get married because of that among other things, when even if men can prove she cheated men still get punished in divorce for HER past mistakes.

Michael isn't a blacksmith. He's a welder. He's made this distinction in the past. He doesn't work with a forge or smith any of his weapons.

Awesome piece man. You're 100% right that there's a bunch of bigotry and toxic people around sword/knife making which is unfortunate because of how beautiful these weapons are as art and not just tools, and I'm glad you're trying to promote change. Good sword for a good cause.
