it's true that sweden doesn't have a government-mandated minimum wage, but this is because labour unions have such great influence that introducing one may actually reduce the salaries of some workers. salaries in the lowest decile in sweden are some of the highest among european countries.

Services like hair cuts / colours particularly grooming for women is a lot more expensive than you let on here. Eating out is more expensive than anywhere in EU I have been lately (Paris, anywhere in Italy, Amsterdam, Berlin for eg) - think closer to $7/8 for a beer & its hard to find a glass of wine for less than $12.

Hey! Nice vid- interesting and informative. Your info on the cost of housing is a little simplified and misleading, however. I have an average rental apartment, comparable in size to your example, centrally located, which costs $730.00/month. I do have a long-term contract, which newcomers would have little to no chance of obtaining. For them, your quote of $1,500.00/month is within the range of what they'd have to pay, because sub-letting largely happens on the black market and extreme price gouging is common. So your statement is true from the perspctive of newcomers but not representative for the populace as a whole, if your aim is to compare cities, rather than the specific situation for newcomers.

I don't agree with "it's easy to get a student apartment". To get one from SSSB (the Stockholm student apartment foundation) you have to be in the queue for 4,5 years, so if you only study for 3 years (a bachelors degree) it's impossible to get one. I got my apartment via another housing company that have about 100 student apartments in total and that took me over 1,5 years in the queue and the rent is much higher.

I have lived in Gothenburg for 4 years and really liked it there. Yes, its quite much cheaper than Stockholm but the weather is even worse since its closer to the sea. Its always windy and rainy. But its more laid back than Stockholm and maybe the locals are friendlier. The public transport although regular is time consuming.

How do prices in Stockholm compare to Zürich? Like for having a beer, eating out, shopping groceries? I have visited Basel and I experienced it as more expensive than Stockholm (and the rest of Sweden) for the tourist kind of things.
