Americans only really show any interest in "soccer" when the national women's team is on their way to winning a championship. I personally have never gotten into it because I couldn't get over the fact that flopping was part of the strategy for most teams. But I heard that they changed the rules to discourage flopping, so I need to set aside the time to give it another chance. I've also been wanting to go see a match in an overseas stadium because I've been told the energy is even crazier than American football stadiums, so sign me up :)

Oh shit, you live like 500 meters from where I lived for 14 years. A really nice area. Edit: and then you dropped the second arrow like 500 meters from where I live now. Stop creeping me out.
You live in Stockholm’s city center? Did you have to go on the waitlist? Can you explain that to me? And can you bypass the waitlist if you have enough money?
@@chairmanofrussia The basic idea is that there is a cap of how much you are allowed to charge for rentals, which differ depending on the type of rental and if you are a private induvidual or business (basically renting out more than 3 rentals). Hyresrätt is the most common and cheap one. In Stockholm most landlords only chose to rent out hyresrätter via Bostadsförmedlingen. That is where you queue up if you want to rent an apartment. Then when applying for a specific rental the person with the longest queue time gets the apartment. Landlords don't have to go through Bostadsförmedlingen, although it's basically impossible to get those rentals without contacts (I was lucky enough for my dad to know someone). There are illegal black market deals where you buy a contract, although it's becoming less and less common. You'd be expected to pay around 10 000 kr/M^2 in central Stockholm. The other option is to rent a bostadsrätt privately or buy it, although they can get a lot more expensive. E.g. my apartments rent would be about twice as much. The reason for the price difference is because the price for hyresrätter is based on standard, quality and service, but not on location. So an apartment in central Stockholm could cost just as much as a similar one in the middle of nowhere. While for a bostadsrätt you set the price based on capital and operating cost, and due to the high market prices in Stockholm the capital cost drives the rent up a lot. To sum it up if you move to Stockholm; your best bet is to rent privately or buy an apartment. When you have a Swedish social security number (or you are a student) you can queue up in bostadskön, and within a year you can expect to find a hyresrätt outside of Stockholm. It can take over 20 years to get a good one in central Stockholm though. This was a lot longer than I expected, even though I skipped over so much.
@@5illyMe No need to apologize for making it long. In fact, I prefer to hear every detail. I’m an EU citizen living in the United States and I really want to leave this insane, psycho country. If you have anymore to tell me, please do. I could talk about this all day. So if I want to have an apartment in the center (Kungsholmen, Vasastan, Normalm, Gamla Stan, Södermalm etc.) in a reasonable timeframe (1-5 years), I basically have save up for a down payment and a mortgage? (I hope Swedish banks are willing to lend to foreigners like me.) If I have the money, can I then move to one of those neighborhoods without having to wait a quarter of a lifetime? Or do I still have to waitlist? I also heard somewhere that most rental contracts in Sweden aren’t always renewable, is that true when renting privately? Because I don’t see the point in paying more if I have to move out in 9 months. If not, can you tell me a little bit more about böstadsratt? And my god, the 200,000 people living in central Stockholm are so lucky, especially the ones living in Östermalm. I envy you so much, living in Södermalm. And again, thank you for your time. You’re clearing up so much already.
@@chairmanofrussia Yeah, if you want an apartment in a reasonable time frame you'll have to either buy one (around 100 000 kr/m^2 in central Stockholm, with a down payment of 15%) or rent a bostadsrätt. There is no wait list for that. For hyresrätter there is no time limit on the contract. If you rent a bostadsrätt it's up to the contract you sign though. You either rent "until further notice", which can be terminated by the landlord after 3 months for any reason (can be longer if stated in the contract but not shorter), or you rent for a specified period after which the contract need to be renewed. Anyway if your not in those areas you should be fine👍
Jeptha Well yeah you really should try a football game because the atmosphere is great and special compered with MLS which for us Swedes look kinda plastic (no offense)
@@positivyxa I want to eat authentic Swedish dishes (like reindeer steak), so my budget will be whatever it needs to be. And Sushi is one of my favorite foods :P
Are you saying kids are doing the robberies, or that they're the victims? Either way, that's insane.
No offense taken. I actually agree with that statement.

Hello! I would like to know how easy is for someone who has basic level in English language to live in Stockholm permanently. Is it possible?
Okej men nu hoppar vi till det viktigaste.... du kommer väl rösta på Dotter i Melodifestivalen? ;)
The best place in Stockholm is the train to Gothenburg :)
Awesome !!!! Welcome to Stockholm
Can someone tell is it worthing living in there i mean normaly day in life i'm planing to move there but idk i'm 18 and i'm going to live alone i there👀
hur tycker du att sverige är hittills? (din svenska är otroligt bra! :D)
Would you say the cost of living in Stockholm is similar to New York City ?
definitely not i mean it depends where but tbh no sthlm prices are lower in general
I have a hard time pointing out the pros at this point and been living here for 57 years. It´s a city, i was born here, that´s the pros for me.
Yeah, and i don´t want to advertise for the city in these times for some unmentioned reasons. No offense to Stefan, not relevant with my reason.
@@chairmanofrussia
The basic idea is that there is a cap of how much you are allowed to charge for rentals, which differ depending on the type of rental and if you are a private induvidual or business (basically renting out more than 3 rentals).

I have been watching your interesting postings on RUclips for a while where you make a lot of comparisons between your native US and Sweden, but I find no information about how you ended up in Norrköping, Stockholm and Sweden in the first place?
I would love to know. What is a young American guy like yourself doing here? Swedish girlfriend?
I have a son myself about your age named the same as you, Stefan, but coming from the US you ought to be called Stephen?

Interesting, however, it is mostly descriptive commentary. Thus, it is not very meaningful. Try garnering some hard data - e.g. how much does a 1 bedroom rental cost...etc. That would make it a lot more helpful

*_1_* The happiest, *_least_* corrupt countries with the *_highest_* standard of living in the world are the Scandinavian countries-Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. They are socialist countries and most of their citizens are atheist, agnostic, or skeptic and many of them speak English.
*_2_* Copenhagen, Helsinki, Reykjavik, Oslo, and Stockholm are expensive cities to live in but they are gorgeous-no garbage on the streets; no tagging of public or private properties; no homeless people like in NYC, LA, Seattle, San Diego, San Jose; very few drug users unlike in Omaha, Phoenix, Mesa, Indianapolis, Minneapolis.
