If this was made into a series about clubs escaping their banter eras, which clubs would you like to see covered? Liverpool is a must (I have an older video on that). Who else?
Leicester - had Lineker to the rescue Portsmouth - had a fan takeover Bournemouth - Eddie Howe showing he was world class. All had serious banter eras.
the 2010s were a Banter era for BOTH Milan Clubs, so also AC Milan should do. Manchester United of course too... when their banter era will end LOL Also Barcelona 2019-2022 and the current Ajax one, again, when/if it will end lol
Since 2013 Man United and Inter have gone through similar struggles till 2020 with Man United only managing to win a few cups here and there but Inter have now completely risen to how they used to be in the league as well as in Europe. Wish Man United would learn something from then.
The difference is that United like many other PL clubs has an unlimited transfer budget which makes their situation even more embarrassing. Since 2013 United have spend more money on transfers than any other English club while Inter managed go get back despite not having the ability to spend so much money which makes their current situation even more impressive.

Inter fan since I was born since I live 20 minutes away from San Siro, my life peaked in 2010. I was 15 and inter won the treble, the first champions league title in 45 years. Little did I know that we were about to enter a decade of darkeness. It was sad, horrible and frankly tragicomical at some point. We had some of the lowest points in the club history, some good players in a sea of very shitty players and every season felt like a kick in the balls. But here we are today. Manchester United fans don’t give up, I feel you all.
Inter should have kept Gasperini after firing Benitez. He started to make 352 formation but the players were bad back then. Inter even then shifted to 352-3412 formation. It was just a relentless Era of constantly firing managers with 2-3 bad games and signing below par players.
I agree with this, Gasperini had the right ideas but the board didnt help at all. Gasperini wanted to stay as long as possible and I given what he has done with Atalanta i see that Inter getting better players on the cheaper side and building upon that.
I remember Inter Milan were one of the best team in Serie A in the 2000s and 2010 they won the treble with Mourinho. The arrival of Rafa Benitez was the start of their banter era and it was peak in 2014. Horrible managerial appointments, terrible recruitment of players and club infrastructure becoming obsolete in the modern game. It's only around 2018 Inter got their act together and 2019 Conte set up Inter Milan from banter club to Serie A winners yet again and Inzaghi continues their success. As a Manchester United fan, I feel jealous of Inter Milan going out of their banter era and be title contenders yet again. We spent 10x more than Inter Milan and somehow gotten worse every year. I don't trust Jim 🐀 and Ineos to get us out of the rut since they decided to keep the Glazers and gave Ten Hag and Bruno Fernandes new deals. We're screwed.
I love your videos man, very calm and informed. I feel I learn a lot from watching your content. What I like and admire most is that you are aware of your limitations in knowledge, which is very understandable because we can all have biases or don't know enough about teams we do not support, but your approach in those videos is impeccable. You accept those limitations and make sure to bring us the best co-hosts there can be. Really great stuff, and as an inter fun I hate to admit I even watch your content about milan or juve because of the quality of the work you bring us. Keep it up, I love your work
Do this more often, about the persons behind the scenes, behind the great succeses of the football clubs. They deserve recognition, their role is sometimes more important than of a great coach or player. Nice one Adrian
Can't wait to see an escaping the banter era for Liverpool; from almost ceasing to exist, to a big ballsy German promising a trophy or he retires to Switzerland, to winning everything there was to win, that journey doesn't get the appreciation it deserves. Great video as always Adrian! ❤
Inter's dark era between 2011 to 2015 is the worst banter era any big club could ever pass by Seriously, you would absolutely hate the sport of football if you were an inter fan back then Credit to the loyal inter fans who stood by the club in the worst ever period Marotta has made a masterclass
I’ve been following inter since 1987. The BIG difference between today and all the previous eras I’ve witnessed is the Team is rock solid now, starting from its leadership, which wasn’t true even during the Moratti years.
Marotta didn’t just leave juventus because he felt backstabbed by paratici and agnelli… He left because he knew how juventus were facking their accounts to get Ronaldo, and that they were doing things in an illegal matter. Marotta didn’t want to get involved in this and left.
as an inter fan, marotta gets 75% of the credit. i really believe he's the best in Europe at what he does. as I tell my friends multiple times, until marotta is at inter, I can sleep peacefully; gonna be interesting (worrying) to see what inter gonna be like once he leaves.
Started to follow inter in 2006 when i was 14. When ibrahimovic and recoba were playing and i immediately fell in love with inter. Been inter fan ever since.
Litterally, for Ronaldo, it was a great experience and scored his 101 goals in 3 years, he did his job. But for juventus, his arrival had to be an incredible upgrade, but was perhaps the greatest flop in history. They lost 2 Serie A titles in 3 years, they got knocked out in the Champions League by Ajax, Lyon and Porto, never reaching a semi-final, and they had to litterally ruin themselves and fake their accounts (which got them a lot of problems in the past 2 years…) to pay him. Marotta, THE man in charge left, and brought back Inter on top, becoming even the President of the club today, while his former bosses paratici and agnelli were fou d guilty of illicit behavior and banned.
I treked over from Ireland during that banter era for some really terrible games. A 0-0 against Udinese in the rain with only about 30k at the stadium stands out to me 😂 only upside was you could get really good seats much cheaper. Much happier when I go now to a packed house and team playing great football. Next stop Inter v Napoli
It's funny and coincidental that both Inter and Barca's banter eras started with a UCL win. But I guess, Barca's doesn't need more coverage since it's been done to death by so many people. It's been the most covered and publicised banter era in recent times. And now with Flick in charge and so many positive changes being seen in the club, the only way is up, I hope. Great video as usual, Adrian.
Half way thru this I am amazed at this story even though I know it well. Or thought I did. Well done Rabona, and happy to see Nima and Uncle Sharma dropping their perspective. Forza Inter! ⚫🔵
I became an Interista because of Baggio. I first saw Baggio at WC 94 and the next time I heard of him was WC 98 and his move to Inter. Been a die hard Interista ever since. Those years witnessing Lippi disrupt a formidable team, R9s injury and the merry go round of coaches until Mancini came. He steadied us for awhile, we dominated serie a but was horrid in the UCL, lucky if we ever got out the group stage. Then Mourinho came and gave us the success we all wanted and hoped to repeat. I had to watch coaches like De beor,Stramma,Leonardo,Pioli,Benitez,Walter Mazzari and players like johnathon,Miranda,Pazzini,Cassano,Alvarez,Gabigol. I survived it all😅
not really that crazy, very similar clubs financially in that period and after 2008 most of these type of family owned clubs had to sell do to the "hobby" becoming more and more expensive and the owners losing money to the financial crisis
Awh man this is beautiful. Just when I couldn’t find anything to watch, Robona pops on my recommendations. It’s been a long time. As a Liverpool fan and Inter fan, I started supporting Inter back when they were in the same Europa league group with bloody Southampton. Used to play them a lot on FIFA 15 so ever since then, they really became my second team. I survived that mediocre Frank De Boer era so I think I can survive any era now post Zhang😂😂😂. But seriously we need to be bought by a proper owner and have Qatar Airways as our MAIN sponsor on the shirt. I’m tired of seeing us with Crypto or Betting companies whilst Bbilan is still not only with their unchanged crest and Fly Emirates😒. Now it’s time to watch the video 🤣. #forzainter 🖤💙
I been an inter fan since 1996. I can tell you about the pain I endured through the struggles...there were few phases. But I still couldn't believe we won the UCL in 2010. Winning the UCL is everything for me as a fan! 🖤 💙
- "How much credit should we give Marotta for Inter's recent years of success?" Let's think about this: Juve, that was on a winning strike of 9 consecutive league titols, loses Marotta but gains CR7 "the goat".🤔 They stopped winning. Inter, on the other hand, was struggling to even qualify for the CL. Just by adding Marotta they suddenly started winning thropies even if financially forced to sell their best players each season due to the negative balance and debts. We can also say Marotta >>> CR7 😁
As an inter fan the only way to describe the 90s and more than half of the 2000s as banter era is already generous. Calling them successfull is blasphemy. Yes the uefa cups were a decent consolation prize, but we were spending just as much as juve and milan, in the best league in the world, but never won anything beside those 3 and in fact we were the laughingstock of italy because of massimo moratti, defined by his competitors as the fool of the moratti family, and it goes beyond the results on the pitch but all the idiotic tranfers he did(and he did them personally since it was another era), be it roberto carlos gifted to madrid, pirlo to milan in exchange for coco, and seedorf as well sold to milan for a couple of peanuts, the cannavaro controversy, and there is more. To then managing to win it all when he "killed"all his competitors(the big boss at telecom at the time, the company that tapped all the phonecalls in the calciopoli scandal, is a famous friend of the former inter owner, and coincidentally inter was the only big club that came out squicky clean), to then leave the club in a financial situation that nowadays barça seems like a stable club in comparison. The inter fans that look at that era with rose tinted glasses really baffle me. If in fact we define banter era as an era where the team does not perform as it is supposed to, the moratti era is much more in line with the definition compared to the next 10 years, where there was no money to spend, only fools expected to win anything under tohir, but his job was to fix the finances of the club and he did so pretty well. Long live marotta and his clever free transfers, i know the club will be alright with him at the helm
Absolutely i am a fan from the Netherlands and i hate Moratti as a president, he made so many mistakes its retarded. Like you said Carlos, Seedorf, Cannavaro and he choose Cuper over R9, for Cuper to get fired a year later. Pure madness. Plus he did nothing for the club business and marketing wise. When Thorir bought Inter form Moratti Inter had a facebook following of 4 Million people. He left Inter dry and broke. If he managed Inter properly Inter would have never been in that situation. And could have been way more legandary.
hold on, there is an error, Benitez still won the italian supercup and the UEFA world cup (whatever is that name). On top of the 2010's successes, still he got some trophies
@@BadselS yes! he lost against Atletico which won the UEFA Cup in Monaco. If I remember correctly, a big scandale when a really interesting free kick was taken by Lucio (!!!!) and not by a super young Coutinho
I'm an inter fan and can't 100% agree. The 2021 economic problems were of course related to covid, but also because we raised our costs in a unsustainable way, also I'm still surprised that Antonello didn't lost his job after the Digitalbits disaster (the 2022/23 sponsor). Also we must consider a lot of failed investments, like sensi, correa, cuadrado (instead of bellanova), kolarov, vidal, lukaku bis, lazaro, arnautovic, and we're facing the problem of an old team (oldest in europe) due to a lack of scouting and bravery of signing more young players (like bisseck). Anyway I must agree that Inzaghi was 100% his best signing.
I'm from Ghana I have supported inter Milan since I was a kid my friends always said to me which team am I supporting they always talk trash to me but I never give up supporting inter but now I'm okay Forza inter.❤
Last year we won the 20th Scudetto, the second star which made us historically triumph over AC Milan in a race which lasted for decades. Moreover, we did it in the derby with them hosting us. Something historical which should be stressed more! ;)
I always knew signing Ronaldo killed Juve, but I never knew WHY. Got to enjoy getting hated on for 3 years while everyone called me an idiot bc "Ronaldo was going to win us UCL".... still waiting, buddy
He’s my favorite player but yes it was a huge mistake from Juve to spend all that money on him. They took winning the serie A for granted and bought him hoping they would win the CL and look at where they are now. Although with Thiago Motta as manager they look very good so far and I believe they can win the Serie A this season.
It honestly could’ve worked had covid not happened, Ronaldo at that price wasn’t worth it but the pandemic made that look far worse than what it really was
After the pandemic, when we lost first Lukaku, Hakimi, Eriksen and Conte in 2021, Perisic in 2022 after the Milan's Scudetto, Handanovic, Onana, Brozovic, Skriniar, Dzeko, Lukaku in 2023 after the UCL Final, I've always thought: I'm calm as long as Marotta will be with us!
More inter content pls, love you guys, I was also a kid from mid 90s growing up loving Inter because of Denis Bergkamp, Bergomi, Ruben Sosa, Mattias Sammer. And of course Rinaldo And Vieri!
Both Inter and AC Milan entered a rough banter era once Moratti and Berlusconi left the clubs. Those presidents were not acting as modern businessmen (at least they didn't treat football clubs as such) and left both clubs full with debts and completely dependent on a constant influx of money to keep up.
to understand the true value of Marotta's work at managing the club just consider how almost any player they sold in last years dramatically underperformed in the new teams, think about the Skriniars, the Lukakus, the Onanas list is veeery long
If this was made into a series about clubs escaping their banter eras, which clubs would you like to see covered? Liverpool is a must (I have an older video on that). Who else?

Inter supporter since the time of Bergkamp, Delvecchio ❤❤
Nice analysis and information 😊🎉
great explainer vid
Top content!
I been an inter fan since 1996. I can tell you about the pain I endured through the struggles...there were few phases. But I still couldn't believe we won the UCL in 2010. Winning the UCL is everything for me as a fan! 🖤 💙
How could i miss this video one of my favorite youtubers making a video about my favorite club❤️🔵⚫️
- "How much credit should we give Marotta for Inter's recent years of success?"
Let's think about this:
Juve, that was on a winning strike of 9 consecutive league titols, loses Marotta but gains CR7 "the goat".🤔
They stopped winning.
Beppe Marotta really has an eye for the game
I've been listening to Nima's podcast since last season. It was so nice to see him collab with another creator I know. 😊
Inter fan here in the US
Been a fan since 09!
hold on, there is an error, Benitez still won the italian supercup and the UEFA world cup (whatever is that name). On top of the 2010's successes, still he got some trophies
Correct. Lost european supercup to atletico madrid tho
@@BadselS yes! he lost against Atletico which won the UEFA Cup in Monaco. If I remember correctly, a big scandale when a really interesting free kick was taken by Lucio (!!!!) and not by a super young Coutinho
Thanks for making a video about us! 🖤💙
Something historical which should be stressed more! ;)
I’d honestly be curious to see how Marotta would do with the budget like the top 4/5 clubs in Europe…
Uncle sharma always on point
I'm here for inter and uncle Sharma
Inter ❤
many have to learn from Marotta... yes im looking at you Man United
Man who?
We love Beppe Marotta and Oaktree
Great content
Can’t wait for the Man Utd edition of this in 20 years 😂😢
Their rebirth is my football passion rebirth too 💙🖤
Incredible video. Just want an owner who can spend a little. Forza Inter
🖤💙🐍⭐⭐🙏🏼🥺😍
where Eric Thohir?
Very thoughtful video Adrian. I was thinking Intet were still under Chinese ownership 😂. Thanks for guiding the light mate.
Our banter era in Milan was bad but Inter's was worse, we had some okay players but Inter had a joke of a team
Pazza Inter Amala 🖤💙!
You seem genuine one
Hi Adrian. What is the name of the song that is playing at the last segment/outro? It’s really an incredible song.
to understand the true value of Marotta's work at managing the club just consider how almost any player they sold in last years dramatically underperformed in the new teams, think about the Skriniars, the Lukakus, the Onanas
list is veeery long
Also let it be known that they have been able to hold down Man City, especially without the budget of city. Inter deserved to win that final.
BEPPE MY LOVE
Ive been saying.... Inter's best transfer has been Moratta. Great video!
