We often forget about this crazy gruesome injury. The fact he was able to come back from that and still be at an all star level and have his best season in okc is crazy and deserves more praise
No one forgot about it, folks seen it and it was traumatizing for even folks watching. Ppl couldn’t even fathom what PG must’ve been going thru so ppl don’t want to keep bringing it up and reminding him. It’s never been forgotten.
This is why I can never slander PG he literally beat the odds coming back from that injury I thought he would never be the same and he came back even better salute PG🫡🐐
It was a gruesome looking injury but he didn't really beat the odds coming back from it. Fractures generally aren't that hard to rehab from unless you seriously shattered something. Somebody like Sean Livingston coming back from his knee injury is truly beating the odds
I tore my ACL, medial meniscus, lateral meniscus and MCL fully. I was out for like 13 months and missed my senior year of basketball. That was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through, I can't imagine how hard it was for PG. Dude was literally at the pinnacle of his career. The fact that he's able to still play at an incredibly high level is a testament to his hard work and love for the game of basketball.
@@lexis4490 Yeah, the summer before my senior year. It was incredibly tough but I'm back at a point where I can still play pretty good. Definitely not as athletic but it is what it is haha

Acceleration is gone a bit but sprint speed and vertical is still there when trained.
He was also in contention for MVP for one year as well post injury. As a basketball fan, I hate, hate that his fluke injury happened. The basketball gods were cruel to us that day. Among all the "great" teams in the East during Lebron's Miami stint, his Pacers were one of the best to me. Better than any of the Raptor years, the 60 win Hawks, the IT Celtics...yeah.
The crazy thing about his injury is that he bounced back so quick and is still one of the best players in the league like determination of this guy is crazy he was not gonna give up
Had that same exact injury playing basketball when I was 21. Not only are you dealing with the physical recovery but, the mental as well. And I’m from Indiana as well ….so that one hit close to home for me!
I'm a young 47 year old and watch plenty basketball over the years. Favorite player of all time, dude is very humble and over came alot. I pray for his continue health and success.
Yup, people forget the type of trajectory he was on. He gave LeBron and the Heat HELL. There was a very strong chance that they could've beaten them the next year. He was a certified top 5 player. It was Bron, Kobe, KD, then PG. He was actually better than Kawhi, who didn't really have an offensive package yet.

I’ve kept in mind Pg’s and Kd’s injuries but especially their comeback stories they really kept me going through this healing process because of how well they’ve bounced back hopefully I can bounce back too and get better and better.
I had the same injury and it was devastating the uncertainty of not knowing if you’re gonna be able to get back on the court is incredible I really admire this brother because even though he’s got a lot of money and he’s got the professional help the psychological part is the toughest one to get through

I had a similar open tibia fracture after motorcycle accident. He's lucky he had trainers push him through that monotony period and keep his muscle/joints active. If you're ever have a similar injury do not skip those annoying exercises and the groundhog day of it. I learned the hard way after getting back in the gym and almost had to start from stratch.
