Klefki is be inspired by the pagan tradition of blaming fairies for the loss of small objects such as the keys it steals.
I feel like it also has something to do with the fact that people use keys as a baby rattle sometimes. Like when they cry while you are out, just jingle your keys in front of the baby to get their attention and distract them from crying. They even have like Fisher Price's "My First Keys" plastic keys for babies. I could see a Klefki going around doing this.
and the music Clef and Cleft Palate, tho, you may not notice or it was just a coincidence. There is also the history of the thing that hold keys and other stuff(I forgot what it was called) in france.

8:00 okay, but this is ignoring the fact that fairies are extremely diverse, too. Redcaps, the Wild Hunt, pixies, dwarfs, goblins, brownies, and more.
Neko has been doing a fantastic job and that Pikachu Wood Art looked dope plus those Pokémon cries, though was spot on
8:00 actually fairy types are much more accurate to actual fairy lore than a lot of other media... and there's a reason fairy is super effective on dark types.
Unless it's directly referencing it like Ancient Magus Bride, a lot of things aren't great at representing Fae lore. like not even 50% of fae are those cute or beautiful girls with wings like your tinker bells. Tinker Bell is called a fairy, BUT she does have pixie dust as it's called, much like Disney goofing Hercules where his name is actually Heracles. Your stereotypical fairy, like Tink, is a pixie. Fairies is just the corrupted equivalent to their original name of Fae, but you got multiple species of fae just like other creatures in mythology, like dragons. Goblins, trolls, ogres, all types of fae, gnomes, you got small fae, and big fae, human sized fae like Titania the Queen (also in Ancient Magus Bride whom is FIIIINE as hell), then you got the Goblin king that's bigger than a mountain.
Heck that's the reference in Grimsnarl's Giga form, the whole line is a beautiful reference to the ugly fae, impidimp a goblin, imp, or gremlin, Morgrem also a goblin but could also reference leprachauns or red caps, while grimsnarl your bigger ones ogres and trolls, then yeah again Giga references the goblin king from the tale of Fion Macumhail (also known as Finn Macool) Aillen Mac Middgna (huh... never thought about this but that's also possibly what Midna is based on, huh neat, imp form then like Grimsnarl she get... ahem BIGGER in certain areas), the fire breathing Goblin King.
Cute, beautiful, ugly, hairy, fae come in all shapes and sizes, none are good nor evil, they're just tricksters, with their level of trickery ranging from annoying to deadly. That missing sock, to changelings that are a fairy baby swapped with a human baby. The fairy mother kidnapping and taking the human baby to the fae realm, while the changeling looks just like your baby, but then grows faster than a human, gets uglier, and all sorts of other problems... sadly this belief led to many a babies being burned.
Fairy aka fae lore is dark AS FRICK, darker than your brothers Grimm tales, again there's a reason fairies are super effective on dark types, because they can be much MUCH more terrifying. Probably why (while I don't know if based on a specific fae), Klefki exists, or Comfei, they're lil tiny fae that pull silly tricks that aren't too harmless, such as Kelfki likes stealing house keys.
There's a lot more different versions of fairies than just the Irish Faye Court, you realize?
@@MarMonkey2606
Yes, just celtic mythology is the origin for Fae, Britain has their own Fae like Bhargest a black goblin like dog, you got Baohban Sith that is Scottish Melusine is a french fairy along the lines of mermaids or Greece's Lamia, could even argue elves from Norse mythology are in a similar vein to fae. Celtic mythology has their own elf like interpretations, just your modern fantasy elf is based of the Nordic ones, even the name Elf originates from the Germanic/Nordic language. I'd say nymphs or sirens are similar in Greek mythology to fae, but they're their own entities too, that are a bit far removed from an Irish fairy, being similar in that all 3 groups are nature spirits, and sirens and nymphs can be tricksters in their own rights. Djinn of Arabian mythology can also be compareable, especially since they're also tricksters and nature spirits but they feel more differentiating, I personally wouldn't call a Djinn a fairy, nor nymphs or sirens.
It's just Ireland is the home, origin of both the word and concept of fairies. While every mythology has their own interpretations of Gods, some of their other species are more at home with said mythologies.
Like the Dullahan is compareable to the Grim Reaper, but it is a type of fairy, or you could say the Headless Horseman of North America, being inspired by the Dullahan is a fairy by that extension, despite being male in appearence while Dullahan are always female, and not vengeful like the Horseman.
Meanwhile each mythology also has their God own equivalent to the Grim Reaper (Grim Reaper itself is um... kind of like Santa Claus, pulling from a bunch of different beliefs pooled into 1, starting out in Europe during the Black Plague) Thanatos of Greek, Morgana and Scatach in Celtic mythology (Morgana also being a fae, and the inspiration for Morgan Le Fay of Arthurian Legend, originally his traitorous sister was a human woman named Morgause, but Arthurian Lore has dozens of interpretations and like 50% of them have Morgan, Morgause, or both Morgause and Morgan, even how he gets Excalibur has like at least... pfff 5 interpetations?), you got Anubis and Osiris in Egyptian mythology, Hel also pronounced Hela of Norse mythology youngest child of Loki. Japan has shinigami, which are just like, reapers in general, but if you want THE death, THE Grim Reaper look no further than the Goddess of Death Izanami.
Sooo... yeah lol, there's many similarities and differences between a bunch if not all types of old religions/myths/legends. I just mean that Pokemon company know what's up, and the inspirations in fairy types are heavily inspired by the origins of fairies, celtic mythology. Heck I mentioned Xerneas, it isn't based on a fairy, or celtic mythology. It's primarily based on Norse mythology, with its hibernation form being the world tree itself (hence being the Pokemon legendary of life), and its awakened forms, both the battle and out of battle forms being a deer, like the stag that roam around the center of the world tree. Yveltal based upon well the Grim Reaper being the death Pokemon, as well as the eagle perched up in the branches, while Zygarde's original form, 50% is based on Nidhogg, then upon getting 10% and 100% form, it's 50% form also serves as a reference to Loki's middle child Jormungandr, 10% his eldest Fenrir, and 100% his youngest Hel (also mirroring that those 3 children come from his marriage with the ice giantess Angrboda, Hel sometimes being a giantess like her mother).
All that being said, Xerneas also could pull from Celtic mythology. Cernunos, he isn't a deer per say, but is known as the horned God, God of nature (including life and death in that description lol, as well as rebirth), fertility, and animals... animals, of which include deer... life and rebirth, nature all are symbolized all over the world by trees, and Xerneas is the legendary Pokemon of life, has a tree form. hmmm lot of connections there to Xerneas lol. Thus while not necessarily a fae, it is celtic mythology where fae originate from. Xerneas is chock FULL of references to lots of mythologies, it is worthy of its legendary status, it is SO COOL and the perfect 1st fairy type legendary introduced.
Apologies for being so long... YOU DID THIS UNTO YOURSELF lol, I am a major mythology nerd and geek. I know a great many things, love talking about them, and can't help myself, get over excited.
I mean , Fairy type isnt even about fairies , its abot "fairy tales"
@@mateuszmierzejewski1355
Yes and no, some do pull from fairy tales, but some like Haterene and Grimsnarl pull from both, and a majority of them do pull from fae/celtic mythology. Then a lot of the fairy types that had it added once fairy type was introduced, Mawhile, Gardevoir, Cleffairy, Jigglypuff (at least off the top of my head) don't pull from any fairy mythology.
That or some like Xerneas pull from multiple mythologies, mainly Norse and while not fae specifically has a lot of inspiration from the Celtic God of nature, life, death, rebirth, animals, and fertility Cernunos, also known as the horned God. Outside the aformentioned pre egn 6 fairy types you could either tie to a specific fae lore, the same general mythology (again like Xerneas), or the concept of them being tricksters (like I mentioned Klefki and Comfei, hiding in plain sight pulling menial pranks that don't harm people or Pokemon, they aren't based off a particular fae, but share the idea of it with Kelfki stealing and hiding house, car, or other keys on its key chain, that's just your basic fae pixies or gnomes playing small pranks).
Bet this might surprise some, but Primarina isn't based off a mermaid. Based off a selkie, which is a type of fae from Irish mythology. Similar to mermaids, but different. They look like seals, but upon leaving the water shed their skin and changed into beautiful man or women, they were shape shifters. Even one story of a human man that tricked a female selkie (oh how the turns have tabled), stole her seal skin after she shed it when coming onto dry land, hid it, married her, and had 7 kids. She didn't find her seal skin until her 7th child helped her find it, she put it back on while her human husband was fishing, left said goodbye, and went back to her selkie husband. He searched and mourned for her.
Some yeah I couldn't tell you, like Alolan Ninetails frankly could've and should've been psychic, especially since Kantonian one is already known for psychic abilities despite being mono fire. Mr Mime, Galarian Rapidash is just... magical lol, though Unicorns do originate from Scotland, and is their national animal... might be a bit of confusion on Japan's part, but difference in mythologies, Celtic is Irish, Gaelic is Scottish. Also doesn't help by the fact they crammed all the UK, meaning Ireland and Scotland, into being 1 region the region of Galar, when those 2 countries frankly could have each been their own independant regions. Tapus meanwhile aren't... technically fae related being based on Polynesian mythology, but they do all 4 use trickery in different ways.
Fluttermane makes sense, though frankly since Misdreavus itself is partially based on the banshee, should've gotten fairy type added in the 1st place. Quite a few other Pokemon actually that should've. Like Cresselia would've made sense, while it doesn't have fae connections, fairy type in Pokemon is also associated with the moon, moves like moonlight being turned into fairy type. It's psychic while its counterpart Darkrai is dark type... it's supposed to be stronger than Darkrai, fight off nightmares but dark is immune to psychic. Fairy type meanwhiile is super effective and again lots of lunar connections, Cleffairy are said to come from the moon. For lore reasons Cresselia should've become a fairy. Sableye is fine with its current typing, but being a gremlin/goblin like Impidimp could see it getting a regional variant that has fairy type. Meanwhile its counterpart Mawhile got fairy type added... but is based on a Japanese yokai. I suppose similar to Klefki, it has a deceptive tricky nature (to some extent, kitsune changing their forms to look like human females and trick human males, makes sense from that angle for Alolan Ninetails... still think psychic would've been better though lol).
Maybe the trickery angles is loose, being that dark and ghost types also fill that role, but it makes sense especially with the differences in how they pull pranks from other types. Sorry so long, point being lots of angles from fairy types, and likewise not all fairy types pull from fairy tales.
I think Fairy being supereffective against Dark types is more to do with Dark in the original Japanese being called the Evil type, with evil typically being defeated in fairy tales.
Oh lord the thumbnail

Mega rayquaza was the first Pokémon to ever be banned from smogons Ubers format, where (most) box legendaries reside, this was mostly because it can be mega evolved without holding a megastone, allowing for the holding of items such as choice scarf, choice band or choice specs, or you could run a Lum berry to negate status, or a healing berry, you could even run focus sash, (even though most things that can live a hit from mega ray aren’t strong enough to take it out in one shot) on top of that it hard counters both of its primal counterparts, and had the single highest base stat total, only being beat out by eternamax eternatus which can’t be used in battle, although it is tied only with the mega mewtwos in its base stat total

Kelfikey is a fairy because of all the stories of fae spiriting away never to be seen again. "where are my car keys? I can't find them anywhere."
4:01 The Shiny Catherine tweet pops ups literally when I was just reading her yt post about her new profile pic, what are the odds?
8:07 Klefki is a keychain because it is based on a particular old superstition. There once was an old belief that keys that weren't where they were supposed to be, or just plain missing, had been moved/stolen by tiny fairies that liked to play pranks on people.
Glad to see Penny Snapcube memes still making it here XD

There is a pokemon fangame in which you can have an eevee as a starter. Later you would find a mega stone for Eevee that would allow it to switch to a normal type mega form with the ability to phase between all eevolutions depending on what attack it used (water attack -> Vaporeon, then a fire attack ->Flareon and so on)
The Fangame is called Pokemon Insurgence.

Wait, I just had a thought...
What if Pokémon are classified as "Mouse Pokémon", "Cow Pokémon", "Horse Pokémon" and the like, is because they had those normal animals in the Pokémon world before, and then they died out when the Pokémon showed up, or turned into Pokémon due to some scientific screw up that released some mutagen worldwide. And some of the knowledge of the normal animals still remains, so the Pokémon are classified as such, even though the animals themselves are extinct.
Maybe Pokémon is set in a post-apocalypse...
