Yeah this actually looks pretty good to me. A socially-acceptable place to locate a translator, for instance. That’s a really cool use case. In a few generations I could see it passively translating and auto detecting languages.
The use case isn’t the issue more than it being a half baked idea at a high cost. Not revolutionary enough to replace the phone, but also not cheap (nor discreet imo) enough to justify it as an every day wearable. I’d rather just use Apple Watch. I’d also prefer not to talk to a device constantly in public to operate it and I’m sure most agree. If there isn’t wide adoption, the first gen or two of buyers also risk a $700 device that may not even have support in a few years if they go bankrupt. Lastly, if you’re using it in a foreign country, not only will it make you a bigger target for robbing, but you’ll be placing a lot of trust in AI software that is still in its infancy, no matter how neat the tricks it can do. There is no guarantee it will interpret or speak correctly 100% if the time. And how will you possibly verify anything or double check the AI isn’t hallucinating… without a phone?? Back to square one.
Thanks! We had even more great questions about transferring the pin to someone else or reselling it (they're working on that), locking it (with a PIN) so no one can use ur pin and ask it questions if they're not you (it already works), exporting ur data (some of it works, more in the pipeline), etc... but had to cut the video down to keep it "youtube friendly" :)
A capable device with potential but privacy is an afterthought as well as not disturbing others around the wearer. If this was designed to incorporate a glasses based display and earbuds it would be much more private and not disturbing while also offering a better interface for pictures to be viewed or identifying objects in the wearers view. The speech to text/ Text to speech and translation would also be easier to hear and interact with. A good start but missing the key interface elements.
This device is great for busy people who don't have time to play around on their phone. The price is also nice, I spent $1200 on my phone and about $100 a month for service.
I was concerned about the hardware dev cycle for this device (a big reason I didn't pick up the vision pro). Good to hear the plans are to focus on software. Their hiring page reciprocates this as well. 👍🏻
It looks more and more that this is one big scam. The video's that do show the thing with reaction are heavily edited, also it would need constant connection with your bank / creditcard , gps, bluetooth, phone antennas etc do do all the stuff mentioned. So that would drain the battery so fast. @@dantetweaks1122
All sorts of music stuff...hahah. And the projector interface would be cool if it was more responsive, and actually mapped your hand so you could actually see it without stretching your hand, hahah.
If you watch the video carefully you will get to know this guys are trying to hide latency period by talking in mic for eg the image processing its latency was about 7 to 8s i dont have this patience to wait bruh
True, but then again...every electronic device you purchase is called e-waste. Not many devices have a lifespan greater than 10 years. My dog has been around longer than most peoples devices.
So it adds nothing over your current android phone. Nothing about this says replace my laptop. It's just a different interface for my phone. Nothing special at all.
Well do you know why these devices don't succeed?? Their awful price. I know these are good research projects but you will be successful only if your device is priced around 40-50 USD. Mark my words
Basically after a few generations this is a Star Trek lapel communicator.
Two to beam up😂
Can it teleport?
I know everyone was hard on this device but it seems like it has some potential use cases. Not as bad as everybody was bombing on it

Such a great interview !
I'm glad the interviewer was knowledgeable. Good questions
If only it has zero latency between questions and answers. It would be amazing
When you ask most people questions to they answer it with no latency! No depending on how complex the question is
It's an interesting concept, I don't think it's going to take off, but I'm glad companies are trying new things.
I agree, I love to see companies trying new things. However, with a price tag of $600+ you start to wonder if it borders the line of scam..

They said its already for sale in the US, yet I can see nobody using it or reviewing it in the real world?
That’s why I came here too. I don’t see any real reviews yet. Maybe problem with shipment?

Why is it not a smart watch? People would be open to using it, not a weird pin where people see a camera pointing at them even if it is off…
