- After visiting KyoAni Studios, we headed off to visit the school that K-On!'s Sakuragaoka High School was based on, Toyosato Primary School! While the school is still operational, the closed down old building has been turned into a K-On! Mecca and is open to the public.

This stairs is a historical monument for us ^^
Went there last year. If you go, go there on a Sunday. They have an open music session in the auditorium. A yellow Yamaha Hipgig drum kit (the kind Ritsu uses in the show) is set up on the stage, and local kids take turns playing guitar, bass, drums, and keys, playing the music from the show. It's absolutely amazing.

Crazy thing is, this school was about to be taken down because it closed a long time ago. They kept the school intact due to the fame of K-on.
I knew they based the school off of a real school in Japan but I had no idea they actually replicated an entire building. This is really cool and I'm definitely adding this to my list of places to go when I finally visit Japan.

I"m not gonna lie. When I saw the rabbits and turtles on the staircase, I let out a bit of a fangirl squee! And part of me wonders if the PARENTS now are the ones that want their kid to go to that elementary school, just so they have an excuse to enjoy K-On! for themselves.
It isn't used as a school anymore sadly. It's kept there because of how popular it is though. It's a symbol of one the best anime of all time.

Interestingly, the school relocated in 2004, which was three years BEFORE K-On was created.

I was a bit disappointed that the club room wasn't made to look like it does in the show, but still amazing nonetheless. I almost cried, 10/10
So.... surreal. I can't believe those turtles & rabbits were real. I just finished watching this series last week and to see this IRL is a crazy jolt. Amazing.

@@afizi1213 Yes. Kyoto Animation is still around and is producing new anime as we speak. They are somewhere in Kyoto, but you would have to look up their exact address.

I’m sorta late to watching this anime, I only finished a few months ago. Can’t believe I was pretty much a decade late, and I now count K-On! as one of my favorite animes to date. Hopefully one day I’ll set foot in this place with my guitar slung over my back and play a few familiar tunes from the show. What a dream come true that would be.

In a way, bronies are pretty similar to otakus in a sense that the things they enjoy are usually thought to be targeted towards children. People can like whatever they like and shouldn't be judged based on their interests. Simple as that.
Not to mention, the current MLP show has adult humor and clever writing that even adults can appreciate.
I think that it'd be really cool to go visit the real life location from K-On!.

ahaaa I did not expect in 2012 during the k on era they have a lot of products that have been placed there, well I hope the boys who go to school there can make it inspiration and history Good, will never be swallowed by time and I who saw in 2022 during covid has calmed down, I feel like I will visit even from afar, if allowed I can just enter because the route is not difficult where to go, I've even seen anime
I remember watching this video somewhere between 2014-2016 and little did I know at that time that in 2019 I will be visiting this place. It was a great experience :D
I declare to myself that I will someday go there. K-On means so much to me. I'm pretty sure I'd cry when I get there. This anime saved me... from one of the darkest moments in my life...

Most of the stuff in the clubroom were donated by fans to the school. Some even donated real instruments, then later stolen and brought back. I sorta want to make a Kero statue and ask them if they can put it in front of the clubroom. Something Yui wanted.
