I tend to read while lying down and in the dark so I think that would be better for that? Or am I just better off saving my money getting the basic version, or would the 2021 PW just be worth it overall? Can you please help me? :(
Great questions. I'd definitely get the Paperwhite over the Basic model. Now, is it worth upgrading to the 2021 version? The new PW is quite a bit faster and has a 6.8" screen which is nice. But honestly, the previous models are great, too. I still love my Oasis but the battery life on the PW is so much better, especially the new one.

Hi Neo. The 2015 Paperwhite is pretty close to the 2018 version, minus a few upgrades. Yes, all the Kindles get the updates, except for the maybe the ones that are very old. So, it’ll be good for 5-6 years for sure. My 2015 still gets updated.

@@kindlentech316 thanks. I called Amazon Customer Service and they asked me to try a factory rest which I've done but if that doesn't work, I'll certainly do that. They agreed with you that it shouldn't be playing up like that and that I should replace it if the reset doesn't work.
@@kindlentech316 the Factory Reset didn't stop the crashes but I had no trouble getting a replacement from Amazon. I can even keep my current one until the replacement arrives.
@@evelynwoolston7 That’s great to know and hopefully your new one will work smoothly 😁
Screen freezing is my main complaint with my kindle basic...and no buttons....I have a problem holding kindle basic...maybe it's my hands. I want buttons.
Sorry about the screen issue. The Oasis is hard to beat!
Hello. Thank you for the great video. The Kindle Paperwhite 2018 version is on sale right now. Would you recommend I get that or this new version or the basic 2019 Kindle? This will be my first ever Kindle and I am excited but beyond confused. I plan to use mine for years to come so I love that the PW 2018 has more storage (although I probably won't even use it all lol) and that it is smaller.
@@kindlentech316 Thank you so much for the advice. It's very helpful and I think it's made things clearer for me 😊
They reworked the search panel in browser and now i cant understand how to chance search engine. I don't think that i am so stupid.
The latest update is very frustrating. My old Paperwhite got even slower with it.
That’s not good!
Can the special offer be removed on this device?
Yes, if you pay an extra $20. Or, get the Signature Edition.
There may be some issues with the software though I’ve had none yet but if you are thinking this is not a significant upgrade you are mistaken. I’ve had a several of the touch screen generations and this is the first major upgrade in a long time.
Has anyone considered the kobo Clara HD? it’s a much lighter, smaller, comfortable to hold while it also has the same 300 screen quality with the warm lights.
Maybe we should wait for more updates. They need to stabilize the hardware and the software
Good video. I personally find the new operating system a very nice upgrade for several reasons. Need to take the time to use it and get familiar with it first.
Yes, it does take a bit to get used to. The more I use it, the more I "don't mind" it. That's as far as I've gotten, haha.
Great review! Been waiting for a comparison review. Would be great if you have the 2019 paper white to compare. I am new to this and is considering whether to get the latest version (amber light, faster page turn) or the 2019 version (cheaper option). Still undecided which one to go for haha. Are you able to comment how long will the hardware last, will it be still good say 5 to 6 years down the road? Does the older models also get software updates when the new OS comes out?
Hi Neo. The 2015 Paperwhite is pretty close to the 2018 version, minus a few upgrades. Yes, all the Kindles get the updates, except for the maybe the ones that are very old. So, it’ll be good for 5-6 years for sure. My 2015 still gets updated.
@@kindlentech316 Thanks for your reply. I aim to get one by end of the year. Very likely will be getting the latest version 😆. Keep up the good work. Stay safe! From Singapore.
@@kindlentech316 hello Neo and Kindle Tech. I also enjoyed the review. My wife bought me a refurbished 2018 Kindle I guess they’re called? about 3 weeks ago. It was a really good deal and an anniversary gift. So then we heard about this new one you talked about. I really appreciate your style of instruction and giving us the information about the new kindle. The interface changed on my overnight a bit ago so it was a surprise when I opened my kindle cover. The new interface is fine. I read on this device only so as long as I can figure that part out I’ll be ok.
Oh want to give big thanks to my wife for getting me this kindle and showing me the pinch thing to make the text bigger. what a godsend!! I always have to borrow large print books from the library. While that was ok not every book came in large print so some books I couldn’t read. Now though I got the text big enough to see. It’s like a new world opened up.
Neo get one of these things it make reading easier than having to go to the library to lug books home and back.
I am going to keep the Kindle I got since it works great, was on sale, and most importantly you don’t ask to return an anniversary gift from your spouse!
If you are worried abpout the life of your Kindle, I have the very first Paperwhite 1 (generation 5) that came out in 2012. It has spent its life in a very good leatherette cover which is about shot now but the Kindle itself is as good as new, I am still using it as well as my new Paperwhite 5 (generation 11) which causes less eyestrain with the warm brighter light,
спасибо ! ))) прекрасное видео ! )
You did scare the hell out of me for that slow kindle. Definitely worried
You mean my 2015 Paperwhite? Ya, it’s a lot slower.
@@kindlentech316 was more referring to the chunky new OS (for the 2015 kindle, that was obvious :-) thanks for the review
Nice review
Thanks!
Paperwhite 5 is fully front light??
Yes, it now has 17 LEDs. And it is super fast.
@@kindlentech316 am not a kindle usér.
at zero warmness and zero brightness. Does it look like other kindle screens.
I mean at day time can v read it like our normal books. Won't be straining eyes if we read for hours right? Like 6-7 hours in a stretch?
@@sushanthapril It looks like a normal book when the lights are turned all the way down. And it is much easier on the eyes that reading on a tablet or phone.
@@kindlentech316
U mean
*than reading on tablets.?
@@kindlentech316 Thanks for replies 😍
I might have read some 50-60 books so far. But when we read, if we don't get meaning of a word, going to mobile o something is so much distracting.
And again reading in mobile is not a choice at all.
So thinking to get this one. Paperwhite 5..
You have up to 5 kindle. I have none. Wish I have one
I have them all to make the videos!
Can we load different fonts onto the kindle paperwhite 5 to read different language?
There are several different fonts to choose from that the Kindle gives you automatically. But yes, you can add your own. You’ll need to connect your Kindle to your computer and upload an OTF or TTF font.
@@kindlentech316 Thank you for your quick reply. I bought one for a friend and he was telling me he installed new fonts but wouldn't display to choose in font setting. I am not sure where the problem lies.
I carry mine in my pocket 😂
4:44 restroom 🚽 ready (precovid)
LOL!
If people have to complain about how you put the cord in maybe they shouldn't have one. I have the basic kindle with the front light and when I charge mine if it is turned the other way I just fix it, not big deal.
True, it's not a big deal for some people. To me, the USB-C means that eventually, we can all have fewer types of chords around.
People need to stop whining about stuff.
Men can fit them in their pockets. Women have sad little fake pockets. It’s a travesty, hopefully men’s skinny jeans come back so I can hop on that lol
Haha! ;)
The new software is just awful
No problem, no freezing, if it does its the software , no need to send it back, people complaining are a pain in the ass, you get a nice new size and then you complain, should be in a case anyway. It's not slower your review is irritating..one big moan,
Why do you think his wife left him and did not even take half of his kindles
