(Edit courtesy of Pilot Bravo) [The reason the engines spooled is because of your high angle of attack. When you were landing, your nose was very high and as a way to avoid a stall, airbus’ comes with a mechanism called alpha floor protection which increases engine power to avoid a stall. Basically, just don’t flare the plane so harsh when landing.]You can also change the autothrottle speed by turning the knob that is two to the left of the A/THR button. To engage the new speed, move your mouse over the knob until a down arrow appears that says something like "engage airspeed". Also, when you land a plane with jet engines, you should engage the reverse thrusters, spoilers, and brakes. When used together, large planes stop quickly. Also, when landing, change your airspeed by changing the throttle or by using the speed brakes (spoilers) instead of changing the flap settings. Flaps allow the plane to fly at slower speeds and still stay in the air by increasing lift. When you reduce the flaps, the plane can stall since more airspeed is needed to keep the plane airborne. Basically, you should land with full flaps no matter the plane.
Wokko no, they come in at the correct speed, but because they use smaller airports that are cheaper, the runways are shorter which makes them put the aircraft down firmly.

Not sure if you know, but when you hit the "space bar" you get an elevated seating position that it is little more natural for looking out the windows, and really helps with forward visibility for landings. The default view is a little more instrument centric. Also, you can adjust you seat height with the "up" and "down" cursor keys. And pressing "F" will reset your viewpoint to default.
Hey trev, just a few tips incase you want to get better in your landings. Here's a list without revealing too much! 1. Speed is key - Get the right landing speed first, then maintain that speed with the right amount of thrust 2. Get that attitude! - You want a nose pitched up about 2-4 deg above horizon, or just at the first upper horizontal line on your attitude indicator (cockpit instrument) 3. Vertical stall - The third most important instrument is that vertical speed indicator - that thing that stills you how smooth your landing is in FPM (ft per min). You want to aim for about 600-700 fpm on approach and about 70-50 fpm on landing. 4. Cockpit view - You need to adapt to the cockpit view as it is essential to creating those butter landings that everyone keeps hearing about. Plus you gotta learn what all those buttons do one way or another. If you do the first 3 right, you can land any plane including those tough pesky jets! Hope that helps. Have fun simming in Flight Sim! Wish I had the PC to run this. Looks amazing. - From a fellow simmer from Fs2004 :)
Love these flight videos, humour is on point! Can't get enough :) Right up to the break of character at 00:18 was EPIC! 18:31 "Paro is known as THE most dangerous airport to land on in the entire world, and guess what there are only 8 trained pilots that are allowed to do this... and I'm going to be the NINTH. It can't be THAT hard" Love the optimism my man XD *btw: 19:11 - "Big body in Bhutan" would make a great album name, we need to call Marc Rebillet I think :D Imagine the response of the NTSB hearing this on the black box recording after... 20:34 - "here we go don't worry, I'm, I'm qualified, I've got this! Trev - the reason your engines aren't behaving is because the auto throttle is engaged! If engaged, the auto throttle will take over if it thinks your speed or altitude is too low. You can turn it off by pressing the ATHR button in the center of the cockpit.
I was quite literally shouting in my chair about your landing in Paro, the Auto Throttle/ A/THR was enabling its self because of your flaring, it's too steep that A/THR thinks that you're attempting a go around.. So don't point the nose too high while attempting to flare.
Trev had me rolling when he landed the first jet lol. He was trying to be smooth then u herd blop!! He said yep we good lmao good one at tamer airlines lol
Imagine ur pilot saying "don't look at the ground look at the double rainbow, don't look below " dude u literally r the best and funniest pilot maybe a bit aggressive too , love ur vids keep up the good work
Watching (and being interested in) Tmart playing these flight simulators is the equivalent to watching golf. I feel like I need to age and mature 30 years before I’m allowed to watch this.
Trevor, for the airbus, on the top of the dashboard in the middle, there is your autopilot controls and there’s a button always turned on with a “A/THR” which you may have also seen on your engine power bottom left, it can be turned off and you won’t have those issues anymore. It will be easy to notice it’s the only button that it green(turned on)
25:12 you see, what happened there was an automated system airbus has that initiates a goaround if it feels it’s necessary to prevent something like a tail strike upon landing, which would have happened if the system didn’t initiate the goaround. It happens if your aoa (angle of attack) is too high, or it can decrease throttle if you’re about to overspeed.
"You're wearing out my plane." - My flight instructor EDIT: When you're too high, like you were at 12:34 you do a front slip. Stand on the right rudder and lean the plane left, or vice versa. This exposes the entire side of the plane to the air, and slows you down very quickly. You can do this as you descend steeply to control your speed.
For the Paro approach, if you deploy your spoilers it will help you slow down. The aircraft is configured for them to deploy on landing, but if you deploy them manually it will help. The A320 uses auto thrust, even though you don’t have autopilot on. Don’t touch your throttle until you’ve landed. Also, don’t forget to engage reverse thrust too What makes Paro so difficult is it’s elevation. The air is very thin and the aircraft doesn’t realise you’re trying to land because it hasn’t been configured for landing. The A320 isn’t something you can just jump into and understand immediately.
going back and watching these, it pains me so deeply he never pays attention to the AOA. It's literally your landing altitude meter. Tail is about to smack the ground because his angle is so far off and the auto throttle kicks on "NOOOO! WE WERE GOOD!!" lol
You would have had plenty of room if you went the other way. The arrows pointed the other way. So the engins came on because you were going the wrong way! Love you!
awesome job. you can turn off the auto thrust (it is showing green in 18:40, meaning it is on) so that you can have complete control of the engines. Keep it up!

No it wasn’t the auto throttle it was the alpha floor kicking in to prevent him from stalling

“Stalling is a good thing here”

Stalling on runway is common for GA. As you pull back over the runway you can sometimes hear the stall warner go off
But obviously not in his case)
I mean, Ryanair are good at stalling before the landing.
Wokko no, they come in at the correct speed, but because they use smaller airports that are cheaper, the runways are shorter which makes them put the aircraft down firmly.
In the air while away from the airport, stalling is very scary and a crash could happen if the stall isn’t stopped.
