Playing on Xbox Series X I was flying over Iceland the other week in a 737 Max ✈️ & switched the engines off at about 10,000 feet... Managed to glide 🛩 down & landed safely on an ice-sheet on the north coast of the island It was surprisingly ( & to a certain extent reassuringly ) easy to accomplish :-]
@@stonkez8452 what are you trying to say? all im saying is that it dosent go to show how amazing sully was because tmartn is an average person, not a pilot. If a pilot failed this many times (which they did) when trying to recreate sully's landing then it goes to show how amazing sully was. You cant compare a patient and a doctor and say the doctor is so amazing just because the patient couldn't help themselves.
The thing you were missing was the APU. As soon as the pilots realized the engines were out, sully turned on the APU immediately, giving them electrical power to the plane and allowing them to use the flaps. They used 15 degrees of flaps, and when copilot Skiles asked Sully of he wanted more, Sully said no, because he knew he would have had potentially too high of a pitch attitude to impact the water safely. You couldn't make the landing because you need thise 15 degrees of flaps in. Thats also why you were coming in a bit fast and nose high. Also the speed break is the last thing you would ever want to use in this scenario.
My dad was on that flight and my name is hudson I was also born on January 15th didn’t expect you to do this I’m excited 😂I was born 3 years exactly after the flight on the same day.
Just some tips from a rookie flight simmer 1. Keep the speed to minimum (140knots because below that, you will stall) 2. Control from inside the cockpit. Yes, it looks like outside view is better for control but from outside, 140knots or 160knots speed and 5 degree inclination or 10 degree inclination, doesnt differ that much. So, its much better to control from inside. 3. Don't use mouse to give flaps(i mean don't leave the joystick ever), use keyboard instead for flaps, speed breaks etc. 4. Don't tail drag to reduce speed, because the tail will have resistance of water but the front end is having resistance of just air, which is 1000 times less dense than air. So it will just bring the front end down with a bang and break the aeroplane. 1. You bring aeroplane with too much speed, it will crash. 2. You bring the tail down frist, it will crash. 3. If one engine touches water before the second one, it will do a cartwheel and crash. Thats why it is called a miracle, as landing on a water body mostly results in a crash. Sully landed on the hudson because he didn't have the airspeed to go back. You have too much airspeed, that means you are not reacting like they did. After the engines go off, don't turn immediately. Keep flying for 30-40 seconds in the same way before turning to land on the plane because thats what they did. They were flying for 30-40 seconds, trying to make it work, after which they decided to land on the river.
They did that in the movie it wasn’t because of the pilots lack of knowledge to the crash therefore having to stop and assess the situation opposed to the testers being instructed beforehand to immediately go to the runway
Well NTSB already concluded the investigation and used airbus sim, first they proved it but then the pilots stated they had 40 seconds before reaction, so they added 13 seconds before the pilots would react and nothing worked. During the investigation airbus said one engine was idle, but turned out it wasn’t. They concluded the investigation as Captain Sully and First Officer Skiles as hero’s.
Haha loved your reaction when you made it down, Man I love it when people enjoy flight simming. What made it easier for me to complete this challenge is that, Just remember not to belly flop the aircraft because hitting the water flat on at that a high speed it's like hitting concrete floor it'll just break the aircraft in two. And having just a little amount of angle where the back of the aircraft skims the water first, that there is the sweet spot, hold that angle until the water slows you down. Great Job man
I understand that landing in the Hudson River was easy because rescue boat can literally arrive in 30 seconds but now imagine having to land your plane in Middle of Pacific Ocean 💀
dude yesterday i just watched your entire flight sim playlist in 2 sittings and you came back today (i was also playing flight sim when this came out) more flight sim pls
you missed that they used the Apu, it gave them back power to hydraulics and I'm just assuming here, but they didn't use airbrakes as it probably will give them too much drag at that last moment
The fact that you didn’t watch the movie “Sully” blows my mind. Before I would’ve made this video, I would’ve watched the movie 2-3 times. I love that movie I watched it dozens of times.
APU! APU! Power back to the plane with the APU (that cute-zy little Prop-with-a-drop in the underbelly)! I wonder if that would have helped with the flaps?
Love the flight sim stuff! If you're trying to lose a lot of altitude very quickly btw you can perform a slip by pushing the rudder all the way to one side (preferably into the wind) and counteracting it with opposite aileron.
@@ZackFrisbee are we talking about just sim or both? 😂 i think if you try that manoeuvre with engines running in real life they stall due to wrong direction of air flow ?

Why no realistic crash physics!???? Terrible game

Goes to show what a hell of a pilot he was to pull that off. Respect
