Hi Jay! I've heard a lot of contrasting opinions on whether it's okay to make a demo with brand names if we weren't actually the voice for that brand. I've also heard to not make a demo with past work. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!

Good call! and eh, it depends. My thoughts in a nutshell:
      1) If you're worried about it, you can simply change the brand name, or just not use the spot or name.
      2) As long as the ad has already aired and isn't under NDA protections, you're probably fine.
      3) For demos in my experience folks don't mind what the text is more often than not. Once your career is a bit more established, you could shift to spots you've actually voiced to demo your work if you wish.
I'm not the presiding authority on this, but that's my take. :)

@jaymyersvoiceover I appreciate it! There's so many people that say you can't do this or can't do that, it gets overwhelming as someone that's mostly starting out. Appreciate your answer!

@@isabelleb826 I hear ya. Speaking from experience, a VAST majority of the time nobody cares as much as we think they will, so even if worst case scenario we make a mistake or breach some 'taboo' it rarely something to get tied in knots over. ;)
