This video shows that the Kestrels have taken over the midge-filled sky.

It is that time of the summer, when we’ve had a little drop of rain and some strong sunshine; and now the air is teeming with midges.
The camera picks up only a small proportion of the total number of midges that are in the air - they are as annoying as hell to us, but the birds seem to be coping with them quite well all things considered.
The local Kestrels have now almost fully occupied the tops of the telegraph poles to keep watch on the fields for food.
I love to see the Kestrels sit there patiently waiting and watching for any prey item to appear in the long grass below.
They even have the time to do a bit of preening as they sit and wait; before dropping down to hunt something in the long grass.
