Installing a Catless pipe in 2010 Audi A4 2.0T

- In this video I show you the process involved in running a catless test pipe in a 2010 Audi A4 with the 2.0T engine. For this job you'll need a deep 15mm socket with a universal/swivel attachment to get the lower inside turbo to catted pipe nut. With the right tools and patience to let the car cool down before working on it this job can be done with relative ease. For best results you will need to change the tune on your car to work with the catless pipe. With the catalytic converter removed you'll be able to target higher boost levels and make more torque and horsepower.

Update: I could not get that 4th Bolt off and now the Decat sits in the garage until I muster the courage to attempt again.
Hmm that's rough. Try soaking the 4th bolt with some liquid penetrant a few times over a couple days or pick up a propane blow torch to loosen the bolt. Good luck!

Did you get a check engine light after installing this? Or get a check engine light for that eventually???? Please answer. I need a new cat converter for my 2009 audi a4 (B8) and I gotta pass emissions but my stock cat went bad but i like tha sound of the str8 down pipe
Our car didn't get a check engine light because we installed a stage two tune on it from integrated engineering. The tune is designed to ignore the fault code for catalytic converter efficiency. If you don't get a tune or do anything to your o2 sensors after going catless you will throw a code and also not pass emissions testing. Best of luck!

@@ApolloJetsonKND Integrated engineering made the tune, it was about $499 US and you need a cable to interface between the OBD port and your laptop.
@@Calvinm I currently have a 2012 A5 with cts intake straight test pipe into awe resonated downpipe and straight pipe the rest of the way. I currently have a stage 1 IE tune. Would you say doing a stage 2 tune is safe without an upgraded intercooler?

Havent watched video yet, but what di you do with the sensors? Did you have to code DPF away etc?
The tune recalibrated the values expected from the o2 sensors.
So other then resonator delete and cables downpipe it's a stock exhaust system still?

In this video the had a crackle tune or something? Because I see that some people delete the mid resonator and muffler and get some pops, I delete both on mine and I got 0 pops 😅

No, because the tune was designed for a catless car.
recommend investing in and electric ratchet and ratcheting wrenches as well.
I got the stock turbo on my A4 B8 could I do this and put a stage 1 or 2 tune on it without blowing the turbo?
Anytime you force the turbo to produce more boost than stock you will shorten the life of the turbo. How short will its life be is anyone's guess. With that said the stage two tune is meant for the stock turbo so it should be alright for a reasonable amount of time if you've done the other supporting mods like intercooler and maintenance. Stage two would be ideal for a catless setup over stage one. Best of luck!
Really it depends how you drive it. If you are racing it around all the time then yes or very least you will destroy the diverter valve on the turbo. Drive it normally and play once in awhile turbo be fine. But still with more boost probably need install better diverter valve to handle the extra boost
Does this throw codes? Will it pass emission tests?
The tune is designed to not throw an emissions related code due to the catless pipe. It likely won't pass emissions. Depends on what kind of emissions test were talking about but I'm not sure if the OBD port will show emissions readiness.

It’s called a quick jack BL-5000SLX. Really great portable lift for cars under 5000lbs. Just enough height to do big jobs or regular services.

So does a tune that ignores the Cat efficiency fault codes make it so I can pass emmissions??
Probably not but I’m not sure and it would depend on how they test for emissions. If they inspect the vehicle and its exhaust components, no. If they put a wideband O2 sensor in the tailpipe and drive the car on rollers, no. If they plug in a cable into the obd2 port and inspect it digitally, maybe but I doubt it. You are removing an emission device when you go catless so unless a tune has some wizardry in it, it’s unlikely.
so did the Ie stage 2 take your check engine light away, im not sure why no one wants to answer this question.
The tune you load on is responsible for making the check engine light go away. There are a couple different methods of ensuring the check engine light that relates to cat efficiently doesn’t show up. Most tunes do something like removing that fault code or not having the car intake the information from the downstream O2 sensor. The tune on this car is for a catless car and therefore did not throw a check engine light with this exhaust set up. Hope this helps answer your question.
Hey Calvin, with this Stage 2 setup, will it pass state inspection or you are forced to re-install the cat for testing and then remove it once again?

This is a gasoline engine, not diesel, so no DPF that I know of.

See, we asked the company that made the tune and they said for some reasons they could not confirm or deny if their tune was not allowing some codes to show up... Basically the tune we have is meant for a catless car and therefore doesn't throw the codes associated to decatting the Audi. Without a tune you could expect to see p0420 though
Science it has 2 o2 sensors would I need a fouler for both sensors or just 1 for the check engine light
I'm not sure, I don't have experience with o2 foulers. If you're going catless it's recommended to get a tune and a new tune can solve your check engine light issue related to the lack of cat.

how many miles did the Audi have at the time?
Ya those four can be challenging. Try spraying them with a penetrant a few times in the days leading up to the work to get them ready. Also there’s no replacement for a torch to make the nut glow orange before cracking it loose. I can’t remember exactly but the Audi had around 140,000 km’s or 87k miles. Best of luck!

Yes, if you run catless without a tune you're car will throw a CEL because the downstream O2 sensor won't like what it's seeing. The tune we installed had a work around built into it.

It had a resonator delete in the downpipe after the catless test pipe. Then it's a custom 3" exhaust with a straight through magnaflow muffler in the mid section of the exhaust. No muffler at the bumper end. Not sure on the pricing.
Did it throw a CEL?
It did not throw a CEL because of the tune that was meant for a catless downpipe. If you don't tune it, it will likely throw a CEL very quickly.

No check engine lights yet. The company that sold my friend the tune couldn't confirm or deny whether the new tune was "deleting" the check engine lights that would occur with removing a cat which makes me think the tune has disabled some of the codes making it appear fine on the dash. You're right, that's how it goes modifying cars these days haha.

If you go catless it will throw a check engine light unless you get a tune. You might be able to use a highflow or aftermarket cat without throwing a check engine light but I'm not sure.

Ya, I wouldn’t recommend running a test pipe without a tune. The turbo will produce more boost and the car will be confused about that. The fuel map on a stock tune won’t work with the added boost, possibly running lean.

Without a tune you can run into overboosting issues along with a constant check engine light.

It's not much of a change in mpg, if anything you go through more gas because you're enjoying listening to the sound it makes haha. If you aren't flooring it everywhere mpg is close to original.

@Darren Bella About four or five hours. Although we had to make a run to the store to get a tool and we took our time. Could be done in two hours if everything went smoothly
