    This one is a winner. Thank you for the detailed instructions on making a neat, couture style finish without a serger. I love it that your patterns include a range of custom cup sizes. ALL patterns should be designed in this way. It's the #1 problem home sewers have with getting a good fit, and the reason that the big pattern companies tend to add excess, almost sloppy, amounts of ease.

      The capped shoulder and close to the body armhole are very nice design details. It is more comfortable, allowing greater range of motion, and more elegant, timeless, and flattering.

    I am currently working on my Ava dress and I have the top almost done!! It is coming together really nicely. I got a very nice surprise yesterday when I saw you had the Brigit tee!! Of course I downloaded that pattern and can’t wait to make that next. Your patterns are very flattering and directions are easy to follow. Thank so much!!!!

    Great pattern, great tutorial. I just wore my linen Fern top the other day as we’ve really begun to get some warm (hot) weather. I forgot how much I love it. I’m planning to sew up another one! I can appreciate that you bought your red linen from Joann. For some of us that is our only option.

      Pattern Scout's methods, sequencing, and explanation are very good. I am a lifelong sewer who is getting back into sewing, after inheriting a huge stash, and would recommend this pattern for a beginner. Cotton poplin sews itself almost.

      There are more detailed instructions on size selection and cutting in the pattern booklet when you purchase this pattern, but maybe in a future video I can do something similar with a made-to-measure pattern and pattern drafting instructions :) Thanks so much for watching!

    Did you add seam allowance to the puff jacket with two layers and it's how many inches or cm

    What type of interfacing don’t believe it was mentioned unless I missed it please :)

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  2 года назад

      I usually choose a lightweight interfacing for most projects (or something that feels appropriate for the fabric. I can't even remember what type this one was 😩

    Why do you sew a 5/8" seam only to trim it away? I also don't see you use pinking shears. Reason? I've used my serger to finish seams

    • @PatternScout
      @PatternScout  2 года назад

      A 5/8" allowance is easier to sew and allows for different seam finishes (in this case, french seams). It's also cleaner to sew a wider seam allowance and then trim down to neaten edges. Some areas don't really need the 5/8" allowance, but I just keep the seam allowances consistent throughout the pattern to keep it simple so people don't have to constantly check the seam allowance for different parts of the pattern. I also use my serger quite a lot to finish seams, but wanted something a little fancier for this project. :) And I don't love the look of pinked edges on my garments, so I don't really use pinking shears. Hope that helps explain it! Thanks for watching!
