I usually do this or some version of this on every bike I own. My preferred mod is BMX bars because they raise the handlebars about 8 inches. Schwinn Ultra Wide Cruiser seat. I put both of my brakes on the right side since I lost use of my left hand. The problem with raising handlebars a lot is you often need to replace the shifter and brake cables so they are longer and that takes a fair amount of time and sometimes some careful ordering so you get long enough parts. I notice your bike had coiled up extra cable. That's nice. BTW where can I get that stuff you wrapped the cables in and what do you call it?
Bull horns. turn them up and slightly back, put hand gripes on them. Use it 90% of the time, going down to the bar for braking and handlining ruff trails. If you want them even higher like I do, use a combination of what you did and the bull horns. I'm an old Hippy and I can't get high enough. THIS WORKS!
I went with a much taller model on my bike. Ran into a few issues like brake lines and wiring not long enough. After rerouted, I was good to go. Night and day difference!! I really noticed less pressure on my wrists and hands as well. These still bother me and am considering different handlebars with a different bend to them. But the riser helped a ton.
Ok you are such a smart lad, I just ordered a new adjustable stem. I am 6’2 with a titanium neck and fused back at the sternum so the new stem will help me out tons.thx bro.
I have a sore back from riding but I'm not ready to lose my preferred aggressive riding position. I'm running 12lbs in my fat tires, have a rigid frame, seat post shock but I still like to believe my sore back is from the jolts. I'm averaging 15-20 miles a day, 7 days a week. Oh well, gotta pay to play, or in my case, go completely car-less!
Thanks for the informative video. I have a couple of follow up questions. The adjustable stems that I have seen come in lengths from 65mm to 120mm. My original stem is 90mm, should I get a 90mm adjustable stem? Also, what is the height of pinch bolt adapter, does your adjustable stem come with any spacers in case I need them?
Hi there , just discovered this video ,was informative. I n some videos people have discouraged this type of stem saying it would get loose all the time hence a basic stem is better, what has been your experience friend pls help .
Great video there is one issue you didn't cover I ordered an adjustable stem proceeded with replacement and holy behold it was 1/16 of an inch less thickness than the originals stem and guess what would not clamp properly for obvious reasons so I highly suggest ordering a spacer kit.
Kyle, in your lab, design and build an 'adjustable on-the-fly stem' kinda like to the dropper seat post. I realize this may call into question stability, but on road mostly users may get away with it.
I was looking @ purchasing an adjustable stem for my Rad Rover. I had added an offset seat mount to the bike last week. Still not correct but getting close!
Great idea but they only fit 1-1/8" standard tubes. Giant bikes have 'overdrive' steering tubes 1-1/4" and can you heck find one to fit that! I did alter mine using a scooter extender collar clamp and tube bought from ebay. Had to buy an extra long bolt to fit in the star nut too. Raised my bars 3" that way. Stupid you can adjust the seat post but not the bars on new bikes!
I looked up shock absorbing stems before finishing this video. I had forgotten that there are some available. I have rigid fork, and I believe the suspension fork Kyle has for sale would fit my Bolton Bronco. The fork doesn't cost much more than the shock stem, but then considering weight...
Great Stems but don't use them if you like to riding on rough tracks with lots of vibration as the adjusting bolt can become loose making the chances of an accident quite high, but great when riding on roads.
Hello Area 13, I wonder which best size fit for hyperscropion ebike? yes my back is little hurt when riding long rides and please let me know about it.
Salutations. Recently saw an anti theft pedal device that allowed for pedals to pop off with a unique attachment. Pedals pop off and go with you. Any insight on if this is available for all or just new to the one bike brand. I sent you that canvas of the wright brothers in their bike shop a few years ago.
Hey i want to add a mirror on my handlebar on my Bolton foldable ebike but I don’t know what tool i need to unscrew to pull out the plug Ive tried everything 😞
How about lugging it up subway stairs in NYC? 45lbs is way to heavy. 3 flights of stairs? Try it. Very different from lifting it in the back of a vehicle.
Hi kyle thanks for the vid . im planning on getting one of these for my cyrusher xf800 so ill buy the one you sell and im sure it will most likely be compatible but just figured id ask if you know for certain?
with an adjustable bike stem the stem seems to always point away from the rider is it a good idea to turn the stem around and point it toward the rider so the handlebars are even closer to the rider ?
Yes, that's what I did, cause when I put it on the way he does it sits at the exact same distance away from me only higher, but when I turn it around I now have it like 110mm closer to me and i'm not bending over at all! 😁👍
Is that a Blackbird that you are working on? Also, could you turn the adjustable stem 180 degrees to put the handle bars even closer to the rider. E.g. if the rider has shorter arms or wants to sit more upright.
Strength. There are some of these that don't have the indexing indents. Unless you go gorrilla tight, they could move while riding. This however is a nice setup.
i guess there 0 chance of getting a reply. we need to know how to make sure and get the right size. I will buy it from you if you sell them.I measured on the part that locks down on the stem and I think it says 1 3/8 but do you measure from outside diameter or inside?
I just watched this video and was wondering if your handlebar adjustable replacement works with an original SONDORS ... I've been wanting to upgrade to a BOLTON bike but money matters make this difficult right now, so I thought if this part fits my SONDORS I could get by for a while... but here is the issue you showed removing the top bolt that holds things to the fork... mine looks like this.... what tool fits this ???
That’s cool Kyle, if you choose me I can switch it out with the one that’s going to come on my November Blackbird. Just kidding, I would hold onto it ‘till someone mentions how useful it would be for them. I’d turn it on to them.
I see these adjustable stems a lot these days but there is definitely a better option. You can go on Amazon and buy an actual steam riser and it connects to the fork steer tube. You would then just connect your handlebar stem to it. It comes in two different sizes typically. One will give you 4 inches of height and the other one can give you 7 inches of height. Also you could add this wonky adjustable handlebar stem if you wanted to get even more height.
Well I have that kind of stem on thebike already and it doesn't really move that much there must be a different type of stem to use anybody know if there is sure would like to find one
Turn it around so it moves toward you, the opposite of the way he did it, that's what I did with mine, mine is now 110mm closer to me and I am not bending over at all.
I have exactly that same adjustable stem. The second I canged it over, it started to creak right where my CF bar clamps on in the middle. It's happening right at the clamp, not at the pivot. Not sure what to do about it since I cannot tighten it over 5nm
Not... even... close. I just got my eBike that says it's for up to 6'4". I'm 6'3", 54 and surprise! not in great shape. I suppose someone 6'4" could ride it but not comfortably. And definitely not with proper leg extension. I had to drop the seat way down like I'm riding a child's bike and there is still way too much pressure on my hands and arms and I can't see great. Have you done a video on stem risers, extenders? I'd really appreciate that. By they way, aside from being terribly uncomfortable... it's a lot of fun!
Mr Bolton..........The biggest improvement You could possibly make is start shipping more bikes with ROAD tires........Few of Us actually get off road........In fact, try the tires that Electric Bike company puts on Their R model........Paul
It went together easily in less than an hour. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
felt like a funeral service. I thought he was going to slowly fade out talking. I think he must have put it in by accident or had the level 3x too high for it.
What have you done to make your bike more comfortable to ride?
Seat, adjust shocks and tire pressure, and new handle bars
Better seat and ergonomic grips.
New seat, suntour suspension post, and now a new stem.
Hmm... what have I done... well I started by ordering a pair of Bolton 2020 Blackbirds... ;)
I usually do this or some version of this on every bike I own. My preferred mod is BMX bars because they raise the handlebars about 8 inches. Schwinn Ultra Wide Cruiser seat. I put both of my brakes on the right side since I lost use of my left hand.

I have ALWAYS raised my handlebars to be respectful, with good morals, and kindness.
underated comment xddd
best dad joke award goes to ☝️☝️
I wish more people did!
I've raised my forks well, usually when eating.
Lol

your perfect english makes understanding your video comments so easy to understand everything you say, thank you and WELL DONE.

Love it! You are really informative .got a new bike and knew nothing about how to adjust or change the neck. Thank you
Thanks for very helpful tips😀 Love how you keep things to the point and easy to understand
Made a Huge difference on my fat tire philodo h7. So much better now. It's like a beach cruiser now.
Can this stem be turned around 180 to make the handle bars closer. Thanks great job as usual.
Yes, that's what I did.
I added it my bronco and it made a huge difference! Great idea, thanks Kyle!🤠
Ah, a fellow Bronco rider! How do you like yours?
I am loving it so far. I'm trying to get back into riding a bike. It's been a long time since I have ridden regularly.
Super helpful! Easy fix to low stock handle bars
i just purchased my foxbat ebike today. feeling good now.
Just subscribed, brilliant tutorial mate, made me want to keep my eBike and do this to it, make it fit me more comfortably!
Great explanation. Thank you from India.
I hated leaning forward so I decided to buy a curved style handlebar and it helped bring me more upright
Very good training
have you thought about installing the new stem towards you instead of away? Would that help those that suffer with sore backs on longer rides.
That's what I did and it works great!
My body height is a border case with my recently purchased Scoot hybrid bike. Yes this will be what I'm looking for.
That's cool. Could always get bar ends to, they make the ride more comfortable and are great for climbing.
dude! i wish you would have shown the entire range of how far it can lift it! this didn't give me an idea of that.

Would this adjustable stem work on a Surly bridge club? Thank you. I have Surly Moloko handlebars.

Great idea need 2 one for dads new Pedego and my 25 year old Trek
definitely a much more comfortable ride with an adjustable stem!
Kyle, in your lab, design and build an 'adjustable on-the-fly stem' kinda like to the dropper seat post. I realize this may call into question stability, but on road mostly users may get away with it.
Here's what I want to know... does the Rad Rover include long enough cables to raise the handlebars all the way up with your Adjustable Stem?
I'm interested to know if this works on a 2020 Rad Rover as well.
What is the length of the stem? Original Rover stem is 50 mm + 30º (15 mm rise)
I was looking @ purchasing an adjustable stem for my Rad Rover. I had added an offset seat mount to the bike last week. Still not correct but getting close!
I put the adjustable stem on my radrover before my first ride.
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
Looks like a simple install. I like it!
But how properly tight Central bolt , you said that it hold all bearing together, but can you overtigh it or it's impossible.thank you
Looks like a great addition.
You think of the best solutions thanks for that
What size are the Aventure handle bars and will your adjustable stem work without adapters, etc.?
Any advice on suspension handlebar stems for solid fork bikes such as you show here? Kinekt has introduced a spring tunable model recently.
I looked up shock absorbing stems before finishing this video. I had forgotten that there are some available. I have rigid fork, and I believe the suspension fork Kyle has for sale would fit my Bolton Bronco. The fork doesn't cost much more than the shock stem, but then considering weight...
I installed a stem riser and a bigger wider seat.
Good information as always, Thanks!
Great Stems but don't use them if you like to riding on rough tracks with lots of vibration as the adjusting bolt can become loose making the chances of an accident quite high, but great when riding on roads.
I just bought a Foxbat a few weeks ago...I am Very uncomfortable with the riding position. I hope this will help.=)

I need to raise the stem on my Stride 400. Thanks for getting me started. What's the name for those spacers on the stem?
Off chance anyone knows the measurements on a totguard stem/handlebars? I want a neck extender but since there’s no manual there’s no info.
What is that Big cage over your right shoulder with the conveyor slide? Scale?
A Tornado.....
how do I tighten the front fork it has too much play after i added the extension
Totally agree, an adjustable stem provides a much more enjoyable ride
Hi kyle thanks for the vid . im planning on getting one of these for my cyrusher xf800 so ill buy the one you sell and im sure it will most likely be compatible but just figured id ask if you know for certain?
i also got one of these. but my hydraulic cables were too short. i have to install new cables to make it work. still didnt do it out of frustration

Kyle, where can I get this?
Wondering if you have the method of unlocking the speed controller on the newest roadster Road?
Sorry radster road speed controller unlocking method?
Is that a Blackbird that you are working on? Also, could you turn the adjustable stem 180 degrees to put the handle bars even closer to the rider. E.g. if the rider has shorter arms or wants to sit more upright.
Do they make a 22.2 mm risor that is adjustable? I cannot find one.
Very helpful. Thanks
Is there an adjustable with suspension?
Any disadvantages to using an adjustable stem compared to the normal fixed ones?
Strength. There are some of these that don't have the indexing indents. Unless you go gorrilla tight, they could move while riding. This however is a nice setup.
this means to adjust the height you also have to adjust the reach, which is not a good option.
i guess there 0 chance of getting a reply. we need to know how to make sure and get the right size. I will buy it from you if you sell them.I measured on the part that locks down on the stem and I think it says 1 3/8 but do you measure from outside diameter or inside?
