Ha! Great video, loved every minute of it. That's a Motorola 19P35, the set I grew up with all through the 60's into the early 80's when it finally got hit by lightning (dad bought it brand new it 1963). Can't believe you even plugged it in, but then the damn thing starts working - too much! That's the only tv set we had, but in the 60's all you needed were channels 2 - 13 because there was so much great stuff on to watch. Keeping that set running is what got me started in electronic repair, and even though it's been dead and gone for over 35 years I still have the Motorola factory service manual for it. What a trip to see the inner workings of one again!

The first TV I ever repaired was a 65 Motorola. I think it required one tube, tuner & pots cleaned. Adjustments. Friends passed it around until the 80s. Picture got a bit soft near the end.... love Motorolas.

It doesn't speak well of TV channels when it's more interesting to watch you watch TV, than watching it directly.

So true, modern TV and radio sux! I rarely watch or listen too....and what makes it worse is to watch / listen too these vintage gems, you have to deal with garbage / really bad programming!

One historic aspect about this TV is that 1964 was the last year that it was legal to sell VHF only TVs in the US. (I wonder what the manufacturers and dealers had to do with their remaining inventories of sets like this one at the end of the year.)
Indeed, it is fascinating that all of these vacuum tubes, save for the shattered high voltage rectifier, survived these harsh conditions for so many years. I doubt that germanium transistors (or possibly even early silicon transistors and ICs) could have survived this kind of abuse.

Fantastic clear picture for this 52 year old TV. That TV would have never expected to see digital transmitted TV images to be displayed on its tube. The replacement HV tube works very well. The glowing of the bulbs is awesome !

Nice Video! I'm always amazed what these vintage TVs can go through and still work, yet a modern flat panel you can just look at it wrong and the screen cracks and in the trash it goes Lol.

Many flat screens need to be tied down, they use to come with a small cable for that. Kids running around I'm sure knock many of them off the stand. Or a wife throwing something at her husband...and missed!!

Brilliant video, amazing that the audio still worked, with the original speaker. The HV was present minus the broken output tube. You are the true master in TV repairs, and your video's are the best and most interesting in TV resurrection on RUclips. Keep up the excellent work mate.

That classic interferences sound is produced depending of how white is the image (ilumined screen) and in a normal picture (people talking or movie scene) noise reduces it self, I think. Wonderful to see this restoration. Celebrate this testoration going to a restaurant (restoration - restaurant, it's a joke XD).

Probablely carton of speaker is broken. You can change it for a new piece, replace the carton paper, or to arrange with white glue for forniture, due it is elastic. I had a Motorola with wooden cabinet, same inches when I was just boen in 1967, here in my country, Chile, SouthAmerica. In 1978 arrived cokor, transmission (NTSC) and my father bought a Sharp 19". We have a GE 19" color for a week before, but at night image showed a bar black up snd down, cause of voltage get low (220V 50Hz) . Huggs.

The buzzy audio is often caused by strong signals causing the video to clip. The audio is picked out of the video, so when the video clips, the audio does too. Sometimes a slight backing off on the AGC fixes the problem, if the TV has an AGC control.

The reason for the light/dark lines, loops, and/or on/off appearance of the CRT is because your camera shoots at 60fps, and NTSC video is displayed at 59.94fps. This difference is where the "Black" parts appear in various shapes and sizes when recording the CRT.
When it's dark enough that the shutter speed is under 60fps (when it's dark), you get the whole image.

That's often interesting and depressing... most things I take from the trash don't need any repairs. They just work. My high school once put dozens of Atari MegaST computers on the trash. I specifically asked them to just give them to me, which was denied. So I just "stole" three of them, without a bad heart.

Speaking as someone from The Old Country who was used to Nokia and Sony Ericsson back in the day, I can totally agree that Motorola were weird!
I now have a Huawei manufactured Honor 7X which runs the All American operating system known as Google Android. I'm sure you could argue that it's actually the Chinese customised Emotion UI but...
    1. I bought the phone in the UK, China pre-installed those All American Google apps.
    2. I signed into my Google account, letting the NSA know that I've bought a new phone.
    3. I live in the UK and use a British ISP and a British mobile network, GCHQ already know who I am.
    4. I signed up for a Huawei ID, letting the Chinese PLA know that I'd bought one of their phones.
In short, Chinese Intelligence are getting to know everything that British and American Intelligence have been learning about me this whole time!
