I'd say winning the league in your first, full season is quite good. Brought out the best of players like Araujo and Balde, and is performing a rebuild that has been needed for years. The team is still standing despite pillars like Busquets, Pique and Alba being removed. Rebuilds are never easy, especially when your finances are strained, but all things considered, I'd say he is doing pretty good. - A rival fan

@@thamsanqawisdomsiziba3552 Balde and Araujo were at an entirely different level before Xavi came in. Balde wasn’t even a starter under Koeman….Pedri and FDJ have improved since then as well but you could say that’s from regular game time. Everybody else on the squad is new, which is the entire point as to why the team is completely different now. Xavi came in with a plan and has executed it, bringing us from mid table to champions.
I don’t disagree that Valverde could’ve had a longer spell if it weren’t for the board dismissing him but the level Xavi has brought to the team is unquestionable.

For me, Xavi has done an amazing job for Barcelona. The club was in a difficult financial position and had on the field issues and yes they're a historical club but the moves they've been able to make have been impressive considering the restrictions they had and you weren't sure if you were gonna register these players yet came to Barcelona with a wage cut and have done a good job in clearing out the deadwood. Last season, he guided Barcelona to their first La Liga title since 2019 and they showed a team that's heading in the right direction as they boasted the best defensive record in the top 5 leagues and used mostly young players and the experience of the veterans were also crucial and were a team that was able to grind out results when they weren't at their best. That's a critical skill and that's what every championship team needs determination and grit to find a way to win games no matter what and that also shows hunger. In the last 2 seasons Barcelona have crashed out of the champions league group stages and have failed to win the Europa League and they still have issues against tougher opposition in big games and they have to work on it. So far this season, despite injuries and they haven't always been in top form, Barcelona has yet to lose a single game in La Liga and the champions league, in Europe the draw was absolutely kind to them and since they boast a lot of quality in their team and can get better when everyone's fit, they'll have a deep run in this competition.
I give Xavi an 8/10 for the way he guided Barcelona to a league title last season also a Supercopa trophy, he has steadied the ship with the signings they've been able to make and their defense upgraded they went from Firpo Lenglet Umtiti and Dest to now having one of the best defenses in Europe with Balde Araujo Cancelo Christensen and Kounde and they have a world class keeper in Ter Stegen top class midfielders in Pedri Gavi De Jong Gundogan and one of the best number 9s in the world in Lewandowski and he's the right manager for Barcelona and he's done a good job they just have to actually have a deep champions league run this season because I think this team is capable of getting to the quarters or semis depending on if the fitness of their key players permits.

I think you are confusing Xavi and Joan Laporta/Alemany. Xavi has not done an amazing job at Barca. For me he gets a 6 (almost average) for the way he guided us to La liga. We played good games in the league last season and we played horrible last seasons. There are many times last season where Xavi was too stuborn, too bent on using Dembele, and Lewandowski than giving others a chance for the many games in which they were bad. As it relates to his overall management since 2021 I give him 6.5 rating. He got knocked put of Ucl group stage and out of the Europe League 2 years consecutively. He has proved to be a very stuborn coach. A coach who is willing to put the team at risk for his own pride. He has failed to pick out top talents and develop them and then he absolutely destroyed Pablo Torre. He also losed 4-0 to p*uta Madrid. But I pray and hope Xavi wil get better cz he has gotten the contract.

Factsaa also he needs to put his ego aside too for the greater good cuz he is starting to destroy promising youngsters careers who could be potential Barca legends of the future. He's doing so by not playing them enough when he has the chance and despite them having great performances when given the chance. Abde Ezzalzouli was incredible in preseason and yet Xavi punished hom restricting him game time. Fati too. We lack midfield depth yet for no reason, Xavi sold kessie when he add much needed depth and physicality to the team. The future is leaving cuz their confidence is being destroyed by Xavi. Barca are now gaining a hefty injury list like last season and have to look for b-team players. The lack of depth shows. Making the same mistake like last season. Team will suffer everytime a handful of starters get injured.
I really hope we don't go out in group stages again cuz Barca and Xavi are repeating the same mistakes.

For me Xavi’s ceiling was winning La Liga, as far as taking the club to another level, he’s sub par. Any decent manager could have won the league with those players that season. The current Barcelona squad is good enough to make it far in the UCL but the limitation is the coaching. Xavi might be good enough to win La Liga but he’s nowhere near being good enough to be competitive in Europe, so the good squad they have doesn’t matter if the coaching is not upto that level. The only reason they’re even making it out of this years group stage is because of having one of the easiest groups.

Kylian Mbappe will eventually join Real Madrid and since they need a number 9, he's the exact superstar signing they need to elevate their club even further after Jude Bellingham, and there's still questions on how he fits this Real Madrid team from a tactical perspective and it has nothing to do with the Newcastle game where he wasn't good. Everyone is talking about how the team is gonna look dangerous with Mbappe playing alongside Rodrygo Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, but I think people are forgetting that 12-18 months ago, Kylian Mbappe at PSG was reportedly unhappy with playing as a number 9 and he wanted to play off of a target man on the left wing, hence why PSG signed Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani in the summer, he's likely to leave PSG for Real Madrid and as impactful of a signing he'll be it'll be interesting to see where he lines up.
Kylian Mbappe's best position is a left inside forward left winger and that's where he thrives the most, if Real Madrid signs him, they'll have to go back to a 4-3-3 since they have a player who can do a brilliant job as a striker since he scores a lot of goals he'll do that but from a footballing perspective, he's never been an out an out number 9 he isn't like Erling Haaland Harry Kane or Robert Lewandowski type of strikers and he'll have to play as a striker if he goes to Real Madrid. If they sign him and play 4-3-3, they already have one of the best wingers in the world in Vinicius Junior and he's on that left wing for a decade, Rodrygo will be on the right and if they somehow manage to fit him into their system, Real Madrid are gonna be a scary team with Kylian Mbappe Jude Bellingham Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo but the main important thing for the next manager whether it's Xabi Alonso or anyone else and trying to fit him in the team and make them fluid and balanced as a collective.

Barcelona is playing decently. But they lack intensity and a killer instinct to win a football game. There is at times a boring approach of passing back and then fourth side to side without any real sense of purpose or conviction. Xavi hast to have this team play with far more intensity, as if they are playing down two to nothing with 10 minutes to go. Because that is when the team wakes up and actually plays with passion.
