My story; work friends. It is all the fault of those five coworkers sitting at a table together, at lunch. I could hear their conversation. "I had to go on a long corpse run and it sucked because I did not have a single buff. Not even SOW." I had to ask, "What are you guys talking about?" Long Story: Short Version, this was in 2000. They replied "Oh, it's a game, called Everquest. (And, we need an Enchanter! Then we will have a full Group." Two months later I was in game... and hooked. Now, 25 years later, this BROOD expansion tingles my pixels, as it calls to mind the borrowing we all allow and embrace - like "Aliens" and "the famous Turtle with the City on its back", for examples. I am still having F U N. Thank you, all of the people who worked on this from day one. I am officially an addict, no doubt. 142 characters across 17 servers... my oh my. All I can say is, Have Fun! It is the best reason to keep breathing in and out. R.I.P. - Me. Cancer has me in the real world. Yet, on one of my servers there is a great Guild, and fantastic neighborhood... for the next 54 years. We MADE THAT HAPPEN. Thank you all, for everything.
Amazing video as always! Excited to jump into The Outer Brood even more now, lore behind it is so cool and the dragon models are just awesome! And the Leviathan zones?! So cool! Thanks for the great review and all your work! -Hothion
I am just blown away by the quality of the art. It's mindboggling the designers can generate models and textures that are eyepopping in the modern age. And Dark Elf rangers... wow, people have been asking for those since forever. I think I'll stick with my cleric and shadow knight, though.
I was at work when I saw your discord message and then soon after the RUclips notification. You had me singing " Oh Oh Ohhhh!" in my head till I could see the next episode when I got home! If Red Beard doesn't get a RUclips Fippy I would be shocked. He has quite a bit of unique personality and passion for the game. It was also interesting and really somehow ironic to see the "colonoscopy" section and it had me laughing. If I can giggle so can everyone else! I am having yet another colonoscopy and my entire colon removed for cancer prevention at the first week of December. Great episode Mr. Fading! ---- Kortayn.
Everquest: The Outer Brood - Not unlike a colonoscopy! Honestly though, it looks amazeballs. I avoided beta, so I cant wait to go in and be surprised on live!
I'm mostly in EQ2 these days, with a little bit of EQ1 on the side, but everytime I check back on EQ1 I'm amazed at how much the team is able to push the art forward despite the "older" tech. The art in this new EQ1 expac looks absolutely phenomenal. Well done!
I think The Age of Legends: The Outer Brood is pretty neat! The story is reminiscent of DnD's Forgotten Realms story that gave khyber and siberys shards, so it is not too much of a stretch to accept that these dragons came from some other world. But once again, the story and even the inclusion of materials from EQOA is masterful! It looks like the dragons are actually thick-skinned and have mass! Amazing! Thanks again for bringing material like this to us!
That looks like one heck of an expansion. I moved to EQ2 when that launched, but these zones and models would fit straight into our Norrath. Beautiful work. I just wish that EQ and EQ2 could get more promotion as, despite their age, they are still among the best DnD-based games available.
How's the player base in EQ2? Have never played it and been curious to try it out. but not sure if it's got the players to support new levelers or if the game is just heavily solo focused.
First, great episode. I wish you got more traffic to be rewarded for the amount of time and effort you put in for such a quality show. Thank you. Secondly, I have reservations for what is a non level increasing expansion. I am coming up on my 25th anniversary of playing EQ1 and have sort of lost the "fun factor" with the game. There has been too much replacement of "fun" with "grind" disguised as supposed to be "challenging". Thirdly, since the Dark Elf Ranger is now out of the way, the case must be made for Dwarven DrOOds. 😷 Keep up the great work!
One thing I miss from before the DirectX 8 patch from way back in the day was the original Norrath sky. You could see Drinal, Luclin, Trorsmang, Anbeal, and Cordain from the Plane of Sky's horizon. Over on Luclin, Norrath's continents were much easier to make out. QUESTION: Who is supplying that EQOA footage? It makes me wonder if someone has a private server up and running somewhere, that I might be able to actually visit that version of Norrath one day. That footage you have in this video is surprisingly high-def to make me think it was recorded back when the game was still active.
Very perceptive comments here. When attempting to get footage for the show, I went to plane of Sky to try and get video of the little ringed planetary body that used to be there. I didn't realize that I couldn't any longer. It's now that horizon moon. As for EQOA, I have someone that is either on the Sandstorm server or another private server that gets video for me when I need it.
Holy man, the zones and story look and sound amazing in this xpac. I haven’t played loved EQ since omens of war days. Is there a good way to play through the story of these newer expansions? Any good leveling/quest guides to experience some of the older expansions all the way through?
Joining a TLP server and progressing with a guild through the desired expansions would probably be best. Teek and Tormax are about to open Planes of Power, fyi.
I was just wondering - have EQ or EQ2 players ever run face-to-face regular sessions? I was a DnD player before the group I was with all moved apart and am toying with getting back into that. I then wondered if EQ/EQ2 players would ever fancy meeting in one place and running Everquest in the same way we ran DnD - all sat around a table with snacks. I doubt that there are enough players near me to sort something here (Norfolk, UK), sadly.
I have a couple of answers to that question, perhaps, depending exactly on what you mean.... While the official Fan Faires are not happening on a regular basis since 2014, except for Fippy Fest this past year, there are some unofficial gatherings, including at Gen Con. Also, there are a collection of EQ RPG books that I know some gaming groups play. The EverQuest Show did a full coverage story on these in Episode 6 : ruclips.net/video/Y3lCLR-WdmM/видео.htmlsi=iNSLPhwegAS2m8Rp You can visit the article version of that story here : everquestshow.com/2019/09/19/everquest-the-pen-and-paper-role-playing-game/
Haven't looked at the beta this year so this is my first look. I keep hoping for something that blows the doors off the cookie cutter expansions. By cookie cutter I mean 6 or 7 zones, with every raid magic item a precise upgrade of an existing one from the year before (and the year before, and the year before, etc.), and a set of AAs that are just add-ons to the existing ones (with things like Feign Death being continuously nerfed so they have something more to give us), and bosses that stand like statues whilst we gather around their feet to kill them. All the same, it's an awesome episode of the Everquest Show and I am hopeful this will be much more interesting (and a radical departure) from the "same old, same old" expansions we've been getting in the years since Veils of Alaris.
Thanks for the lore break down. I usually play TLP but hearing about the lore of this xpac has me extremely interested! Now if only frogloks AND iksars could be rangers T_T
Daybreak was unhelpful when it comes to helping me recover my account. I was a Og. Brendanx was well known on Sullon Zek, and known on Zek. But I can’t get any help recovering my account.😢
WHAT DO YOU THINK? The Outer Brood launches on December 3, 2024. What do you think of the story, zones, graphics or features of the expansion?

Holy jeez 31 expansions! I'm so OLD. BTW, everytime I hear your voice on the Weather channel I'm like hey it's Fading!
Seriously? I need to start watching the Weather Channel.
Top notch content

THIS JUST GOT ME BACK INTO THE GAME.
Awesome video as always! Definitely looking forward to the new expansion-once Teek catches up to it a few years from now. 😝

---- Kortayn.
Love the EQOA comparisons. That game doesn't get enough credit.
Loved the interview with Aaron Bisnett! I would totally play the outter brood some day, still stuck on agnarr lovin life.
Thanks Fading, I learned more about the Outer Brood here than anywhere else.
Stellar episode! Thanks for all you do, Fading.
Everquest: The Outer Brood - Not unlike a colonoscopy!
Honestly though, it looks amazeballs. I avoided beta, so I cant wait to go in and be surprised on live!
Great show Fading, thank you for seeing my beloved game still alive !

This looks amazing, the dragon floating isle and the new models look great. the new weapons look sweet wish I had some, lets go eq!!!!
Excellent episode!
Thanks Allen! I appreciate it!

Lets go! got my coffee and snacks ready to go for launch!

great show fading
This is such a high quality video, I watched without an ad blocker. Also, when will we get Gnome Monks? ;)
