This video seems to be obsolete as the recommended "EIP Pro" product does not seem to exist any more and has been replaced with a less-functional "EIP" product without pressure sensitivity or magnetic charging. It charges only with USB-C. The old "EIP Pro" link now points to the inferior replacement product.
I bought an alternative for under $15CDN and it works on all my tech! I bought another for my 9 yr old grandson since he was always using mine. I did by an apple 2nd gen for my recent mini but that’s all it works on. The ones from Temu are great, easy on/off and charge seems to last forever.
You mentioned using a screen cover at all times and I wondered if this was to protect the screen or give the pencil a more tactile feeling when in use?
Fernando, thank you so much for bringing two more alternatives to the forefront other than the Apple Pencil or Logitech Crayon. I really like the fact the EIP has the magnetic charging feature. I don’t use the pencil I have for everything, yet it is nice to know it is there and available. Mine, unfortunately does not magnetically charge now does it have the pressure sensing technology. Thank you again for bringing a great review to protect the pockets of the end user.
Good to know there’s some budget alternatives for someone like me who doesn’t own one but isn’t completely sure they wanna spend a c note to buy one. Thanks for the video!
Good one. But does the alternative ones support pressure sensitivity? I know they have tilt support but just wanna check the pressure sensitivity too. If yes, then they are worth it.
Thanks for this video. My 6th grader who is also an artist killed her Appl Pencil 2. It lasted about two years. I need to find her a suitable replacement that isn't going to cost me 100 dollars plus.
I have the Goojodoq GD 13 Pencil that like the EIP and Apple Pencil Magnetically Wireless charges the only two things it dose not do is Pressure Sensitive and double tap to change functions. Other than that it works the same and it around $26.00 For it and it comes in Black as well but I am going to looking into the EIP pencil Pro as well. 13:24
Most definitely an alternative, I didn't even realize these replica alternatives existed if It wasn't for my brother looking into them for his iPad. I ordered this one below from amazon in February of this year for $33 and it still works and looks like new. "KEEPRO Pencil 2nd Generation for iPad, Magnetic Wireless Charge Tilt Sensitivity Palm Rejection" Looks exactly like the Apple Pencil 2nd gen, Charges and Pairs (once) Magnetically to the side of the iPad like the real apple pencil, Tilt Sensitivity & Pixel Precision, Native Palm Rejection, Extra Replaceable Tips (which I haven't needed to replace yet). Definitely worth it if you're not an artist using their iPad for drawings, art in general or a graphic designer. More for like simple drawings, pdf signings, taking notes etc.
I bought one alternative pencil and it surprisingly works. And it works with all iPads that support and Apple Pencil, be it 1st or 2nd gen., at a fraction of the cost.
Thank you Fernando for the video. Concise and to the point. I’ve been considering a pencil for my new iPad Air…you provided great insight into more affordable options.
Thank you, sir. The second one is what I'm going for thanks to you. I was so unsure whether or not I should get the real one or an alternative. I was actually aiming for a wirelessly charging one. Thank you man, you saved the day! *A little question:* can it fit into a apple pencil holder in an iPad case?
I agree with you, I don’t see the need to get the Apple Pencil 2 when the alternative does the almost the same thing. Thank you for breaking that down. Glad I didn’t waste my money..😊
I just purchased another Apple Pencil Gen 2 this very date. Unfortunately your vid was posted after I purchased the pencil. The one I had to replace was just two years old. Like a previous one, it stopped fully functioning. Fortunately a genuine Apple Pencil gen 2 was on sale by Apple store for $89. But I am bookmarking your vid so I can look at alternate pencils going forward.
I got a knock off from Amazon a year or so ago that charges via USB-C. Does everything I need it to do. Just wished it did the wireless charging. I may have to invest in the EIP for that reason.
i purchsed kingone 3rd gen pencil after watching alot of reviews. i used it for 2 days and i am disappointed. the 2500rs kingone pencil lags alot while writing and that is very irritating. i returned it and ordered original apple pencil
I needed to see this! Getting a new iPad Pro in a few weeks and it’s as someone who’s going to use it for productivity, this video is perfect! Subbed 🎉
I'm looking for a non Apple pencil for an iPad 9. The EIP pencil looked perfect except it seems to be no longer available. Arghh. Penoval's are still available.
Nice video. The only thing that I didn't see you cover was that fact that most people use an iPad cover / folder / protecter etc. So for people that do. Would it still be possible to charge those pencils wireless??
I’m tired of people accusing Apple of brand loyalty- everyone that I know that loves Apple mostly recognizes their products come at a slightly higher cost point, but either love what they can do w/the products or are willing to wait a little while to enjoy what they might be able to do next. (Not flaming PCs which are still amazing, esp when they are in fact PCs…)
Agreed that the Apple Pencil 2 is way overpriced at this point given the lack of innovation and time it's been on the market. That EIP Pencil looks intriguing!
I've been getting videos like "Apple pencil killer for only $25!" And it's always like "oh this doesn't have pressure sensitivity" I need it to draw dang it!
I am a designer and creator for textbook writing and illistration. I need something with a very high degree of accuracy and consistency and reliabiliry with adobe fresco and illustrator. Which do you recommend ??
I just bought the Kirosa knock-off of the Apple Pencil 2. It works awesome. I'm not an artist. It's great for everyday use. It CHARGES magnetically on the side of my iPad Mini 6 just like the real Apple Pencil does. Guess what....it's Aug 31, 2024....Amazon selling it for $9.99. Yes, 10 bucks. Goodbye $129 Apple Pencil. LOL
None of these alternatives you reviewed actually have pressure sensitivity. They have tilt sensitivity, but not pressure sensitivity. One third party stylus that does have it is the Adonit Note+.
Good Video ✅ Good Vibes ✅ Massive amount of info about each pencil ✅ I do more than take notes, so think I will need to stick with the Official Apple Pencil for now. Would love to see more reviews on pencils that would be better than the apple version. Maybe they make an app for the pencil that allows more custom features to use.... I'm looking at you Pencil makers. :) Step up that Game and get yah Mac on!! :)
👏👏 Your video Fernando, is just what I needed to see. Apple products are unique, but why pay so much extra cash when you simply don’t need to? Thanks for linking alternative brands that will help me with what I need!!
I was actually looking for an alternative for the iPad Pro 2017 model. So essentially an alternative for the very first apple pen that came out if you have something for that, hit me back.
I'm thinking about getting the iPad Pro, not sure which one I should get. For drawing, I think 11inch would fit, what would you recommend? Also, which pencil would you recommend the best for this? Cheers
Thanks for another informative video! I was wondering about the Logitech Crayon as well since Apple sells it on their own website and a lot of people seem to choose that over the Apple Pencil.
I bought the Logitech Crayon because I got tired of switching the Apple Pencil between my Pro and Mini. I prefer to use it with my iPad Pro, which I use for work and training. The flat crayon is so comfortable for writing. I don't draw or sketch, so I can't speak to that.
Amazing video! I can say the Apple Pen is REALLY EXPENSIVE, so thank you so much to give us many budget-friendly options. All I care about is if it works good and doesn’t lag!!
I’ve always found that Apple’s pencils are better than the alternatives. But as others have said, if you don’t need the features, then get something cheaper. I don’t care what these things look like, colors, meh. It’s a stylus, not a fashion statement.
Thanks for this crisp video! I wanted one for my son and all those different options are overwhelming. Now I have a shorter list to look at.
Nice video! Apple Pencil is way more expensive and only recommended for artists. Students and passive note takers can use the other alternatives.

I am an artist and im using penoval its very fine
If you can afford iPad Pro you should go for apple pencil
@@whereisaxus true but you don’t have pen pressure

idk if I missed it but did you mention palm rejection for the first two?

Thank you for testing. 🙏 I have a question: Has the EIP Pro a pressure sensitivity? I need a pencil with this for Handlettering in Procreate...
Thanks for taking the time to share options with us 😊
Good one. But does the alternative ones support pressure sensitivity? I know they have tilt support but just wanna check the pressure sensitivity too. If yes, then they are worth it.
nope most of the alternatives don't have pressure sensitivity but they do have tilt which is good not gonna lie
The eiip does have pressure sensitivity.

Hello, can you linked me amazon pencil links for Ipad 9 generation? Cheaper versions. Thanks in advance.
I agree with you, I don’t see the need to get the Apple Pencil 2 when the alternative does the almost the same thing. Thank you for breaking that down. Glad I didn’t waste my money..😊
Could you create a 2024 version of this video. I would love to see what pencils are compatible with the new M4 iPad Pro and new M2 iPad Air.
The Apple Pencil 2 is a tad bit overpriced, but the pressure sensitivity and low latency is worth it for people who need it.
Way over priced*
Super cool, finally a cheaper replacement but how do you erase, I guess you have to go to the menu every time 😮
@9to5mac I've bought the eip pro pencil, but unfortunately it seems to be not pressure sensitive (:

Yes, it will charge right thru the case
will it open a new note on the iPad from standby mode by touching the pencil to the screen?
I got the eIP pro for my new iPad 10th gen and it’s great!
If only it did pressure sensitive drawing.
without pressure sensitive drawing - these alternatives are useless for drawing apps... sadness.
but he said in the video it does have pressure sensitivity
Does the EIP pencil Pro work with iPad Pro *10.5-in* ? *For sure?*
Thank you! Makes sense now.

Adonit is as expensive or more expensive than the apple pencil in my country 😕
Can these substitute pencils be used with Android
phones/tablets as well?
for the first penoval one, i have a 9th gen with a cover to hold a pencil (NOT MAGNETICALLY). so the apple pencil will also be turned on or ???

Apple Pencil "alternatives" and yet the top 1 product is an Apple Pencil
surprised/impressed the eip can mostly do it all. but this is apple's MO--innovate and then let it languish while they work on the next new thing.

If you like the feel of the wide, flat surface then it’s ok. I don’t because you can really only hold it one way.

does this alternatives support palm rejection?
Yes
