You nailed it at the end when you mentioned depression, and writer's block. When Sharon's father passed away, she suffered from depression and writer's block for the writing of this album. Very unfortunate, but she turned her tragedy into something beautiful.
I think Sharon wrote this after her father passed away. And video has her signature move... lol. Try Raise Your Banner next 😘 I like this song alot... especially live, it's magical. But thanks for honest and respectful opinions as always. 😘 Oh and HellCat, admit it, you just wanna take Sharon's clothes off 😂😜
The song grew on me as i listened more often to it. Later on i put on the playlist. As in most of the songs on the latest album "Resist" the mixing on "Resist" is different and often criticized for drowning her voice in the mix. Guess it was intentional for the whole sci-fi feeling of the album but drowning Sharon's voice is a war crime :D. The song is about her father and how she struggled and still struggles with his death. Sharon said about it: "It's about the fact, when somebody passes away, you hope they'll give you a sign that they're okay. This song is about you hoping to see this 'supernova,' this super-bright star. This super glow, like a sign from this afterlife." Raise Your Banner should be the next one.
Another great reaction! Thanks so much for another WT reaction ❤️ love all your insights and opinions of the meaning. I love their use of metaphors in this track. I think the more synth-driven tone to the song threw me initially, I do love their symphonic stuff but I did enjoy the chanting and the sparse use of strings - I think this song would sound amazing if they did it with an orchestra (like the black symphony). But I agree with you too this song is probably one of their more “radio friendly” tracks, which I don’t mind but there are a few other tracks on resist I’d definitely prefer over Supernova (like Raise Your Banner and Trophy Hunter). In Vain is another “radio friendly” song from resist but its definitely the better one (in my opinion) of the two lol. Great video, can’t wait for more guys 🤘🏼🔥

I like the song but it feels like something is missing.
She wrote the song for her dad, who passed away before she could get his last goodbye, like they weren’t talking to each other...
