When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

This is why I love this movie. The practical effect, the suit, the cast. Pacific Rim Uprising is nothing compared to this.

Not even that. The DARKER TONE of part 1 made a huge impact as well.

The realism wasn't there because pacific rim uprising was set in a time when the technology for the Jaegers had improved alot and because of that they were faster like the way gypsy avenger was probably as fast as striker eureka
This is what we are missing from modern day movies. Realism. Actually making sets and props. I mean take one looks at this video and you can tell that their hearts, money, time, and spirit was put into this. I don't think anyone in this modern day will actually try to do realism like this. Actually making what's in the movie.

I would love this to be added in like theme parks so we can actually feel what its like to be inside a Jaeger.
I agree and disagree at the same time. The reason of my agreement is the same with you. But from what i hear from some video, that thing is heavy. So it must have a weight adjustment so that some people that cannot play with heavy be able to play it.
I was thinkin the same. I feel like this would work really well at an amusement park.
It makes me so happy cause I was like dang it would be so cool to be in a jaeger and then the pilot seat IS REAL

I honestly am glad to have a movie like Pacific Rim as it gave me the childhood I had never had before bringing what I love both, huge ass robots and huge monsters that trample over city's causing damage, so again thank you for this wonderful movie!
I’m kind of jealous! That’s absolutely amazing though! That they were really piloting like that. I was on the edge of my seat that whole move and I’m still loving this film today!

Anyone watching this 2018? PR 1 is still one of my favourite films and even after seeing the sequel which was very good I still prefer the first honestly it’s just so original and.... I’m speechless I just can’t describe it
They've pretty much implied that it's going to happen. What I'd like to see in Pacific Rim 2 is for the Jaegers to have a greater variety of weapons such as scythes, axes, spears, etc. I'd also like to see one of the battles be a whole bunch of Jaegers take on a Category 10 Kaiju.
Eclipton can't have scythes axes or spear kaiju blood is toxic

I'm here after watching Uprising on Netflix. I felt something missing but i'm kinda forgot a lot about first movie (which i was watch on cinema back then). Now i knew what missing. The camerawork in Uprising didn't gave a "weight" and somehow the "dark" effect failed me as audience, the emotion not engaging enough. I remember how ugly cry i am watching little Mako (her scene really viral at that time). Uprising still good but not as remarkable as the first one (imho). Whatever is it, i still want Pacific Rim produced just because i like it soooo muuuuch! I like all Jaegers and want to watch them every single year just like The Transformer, pleaseee!!
just rewatched it. i could understand the hate back then bc of the story but now i understand and appreciate the movie even more. the effects aged so well and the action satisfied me alot. i dont care anymore abt the predictability bc watching the mechas move and the pilot pit was art. no wonder it spawned a lot of pacific rim inspired aus on ao3

This needs to be a ride at universal studios
The only complaint people have is wanting more. We want to see more of the Russians, more Cherno Alpha, more Crimson Tyhphoon, more of pretty blonde guy, more of Pentecost, more of the early days of the Kaiju war....yeah....if in a 2.5 hr movie people say ''that was over too soon'', that's really not a bad thing! :)
As a kid, my dad bought me these robot action figures and I had some wild imagination back then and I pretended they were ten stories tall or something and they were knocking down skyscrapers and stuff. You know like the type of things you'd see in a Godzilla movie and when I watched pacific rim I just went crazy because of how nostalgic I felt.

The next movie may be a prequel, following the current fashon.
This would give opportunity to see the origin and the first attack, development of Jaegers, Cherno Alpha (Cherno is a mark 1), Pentecost piloting the Coyote Tango, and a shitload of other Jaegers, and potentially even more stuff compared to the first movie.
In addition, I think they should name it: The Breach
or: The Rift

The movie was not long enough for What it had to be. You need a prequel that shows the first attack. Humanity's hopelessness on their own. And then when humanity unites and becomes one whole to battle a threat larger than any one.

Part 2, we have a bunch more Jaegers in prep for more portals opening. Like 5 more open up in the world. Two are actually on land. All the Kaiju are cat 5-7. Part 3, we take the fight to the other world
