    When I look at human anatomy, I see that nature had to utilize a lot of duct tape to get a monkey to walk upright. The coiled spring approach seems to reinforce and fully utilize what has unfortunately become in modern culture a very precarious posture. A fully open spine is able to delegate to the limbs the necessary response and movement while conserving energy. This is good stuff. 👍

    6:00 Humans are faster today than prior. By faster I mean "reaction time", for example. However, humans is a relatively "slow" species in many ways.
    If the knee is slightly over (to generate the best energy using that stance) but the form is correct, and the practicianer can retract (or recoil) fast enough fluid enough the over extension, would that not be okay. The base is still narrow with integrity, for it is only that one knee that is slightly overextended. The "meridian" remains matched to "mind". And upper body (including arms) integrity is not compromised.
    The vertical spring is "one legged". We are "two legged". By shifting our weight very quickly from one leg to the other leg we seem to function closely to as one legged. But we are two. And we would need to employ both legs in order to generate proper and useful tensional power, especially in combat.

      Thank you for your comments, you make some great points.
      RE. the bent knee issue, the unconscious challenge to health and one's ability to present power has to do with how the body responds to (unnatural) (and constant)
      FLAT GROUND AND WALKWAYS.
      This is the source of the lazy knee being held too far forward. Optimal "vertical" (empty-full) power is attained by the knee pulling back INTO the body (for example, as
      a pro baseball player pulls the knee back while throwing the ball forward.)or, for that matter, watch Bruce Lee's one inch punch demos.
      RE your comments / question on the TWO vs. "one legged." Stand on any natural ground
      other than ice. Do it now. go outside to any unpaved road or piece of grass.
      As you stand there, you will notice that it doesn't matter how you stand,
      that the feet are not level. One will be slightly higher than the other. That's why,
      unless artificially created, water will not stay in one place, but flow down one way or the other.
      The single most damaging influence to quality and power in the internal martial arts was
      the prevalence of the flat and level ground.
