Sifu Troy Dunwood is known to be the Closing Door Student of the last living FULL SYSTEM of Drunken Fist in the most recent of Years. His drunken is The Lau Family 8 immortals style which is a blend of the myjong (lost track boxing) and wutang 8 immortals system. Many systems have drunken sets but in all my research so far ive never found anyone that has an entire system as Coach Troy. He is very humble and engaging which is very cool. There are other teachers that are very popular in the Drunken Fist world, such as Neil Ripski, and Philip Wong. Although also notable would be the Choy Le Fut and Northern Shaolin forms as well as the modern Wushu version.

@@chylltoneche8849 Not really for a drunken lineage, your best bet is to find a local Kung fu school and learn any basic style first. Once you know how to learn and understand forms you can learn from the many books and videos available on the drunken specific styles. There are also seminars held by the aforementioned masters in this comment but they rarely come to FL. I lived there and all over the east coast so this is what I have personally done to learn. The concept of the Drunken style is a very esoteric movement philosophy that basis itself on the idea of breaking the molds established by movement patterns so while the moves look cool and fun, its really best if you learn orthodox movements before you try to break the orthodoxy of your movements. lol Good luck

The idea of the style is to be drunk enough to not feel alot of pain, but at the same time sober enough to know what your doing so you can trick your opponents into thinking you don't have balance.

In reality the drunken fist is similar to Tai Chi. It’s a very advanced system, the intoxication is false while the fist is real. The point of drunken idea is rhythm and tactic and stresses a strong sense of relaxation. Absorb, deflect, redirect, issue.

Real Taoist Alchemy in lineage should be a right-hand path, no necromancy or sorcery as they have the same goals as Buddhism = enlightenment. Necromancy will not take you closer to awakening. The closest it gets is the Fire Path tradition which is very taxing and hard to maintain over a long period of time as it would take a toll on the practitioner mentally and physically,. The Water Method is better, less of a toll but takes longer. It's not that easy to find a real master, you won't find them until you are ready. As corny as that sounds, it is true.

For those curious of schools in Florida that teach drunken fist, there's a place in Sunrise, FL called Lee Koon Hung Choy Lay Fut that has a drunken form. The owner and Master Li Siu Hung gives private lessons where you can learn the whole thing. There's also a place in Pembroke Pines, FL called The Shaolin Kung Fu Academy where they teach drunken fist and I took private lessons for. Lastly, there's a place I visited in Winter Springs, FL called O-Mei Wushu where they have a drunken form, but it seemed very performative so I'm not sure how much combative application there is. Those are the only places I've visited, but there is another place in Tampa called Mt Song Martial Arts Academy that, according to their website, teach Zui Quan to intermediate and advanced students.

You can practice sober, sure. And you should practice sober to learn it. But that wobble doesn't come naturally when sober. It is practiced and deliberate. When drunk, that motion is natural and not deliberate, it's just there.

Liking the Zhangjajie backdrop. Reminds me of the late 90s when I took some friends on a trip there and we got stuck trying to find our way out in darkness because they didn't heed my advice to leave before sunset. The place is far too commercialised now. Back then there was a cable car but no tourist shops or glass bridges etc. The most touristy thing they had back then was a path of raised stones that were meant to massage your feet for certain health benefits.

    Re: drunken style.
Like opium addiction, drunkeness (really, tipsiness- drunks lack eye/hand coordination) deadens pain and masks infirmity, allowing the boxer to take hits that would give lesser men pause. This is the miracle of "iron skin" for some. Also, the practitioner is more likely to take "insane" risks, while drunk. That profligacy catches opponents by surprise.
I never practiced either the sword or Shorin Ryu (literally "from Shaolin" according to Funakoshi), while tripping on LSD or peyote . . . but I see potential in it. I suggest that hashish is the appropriate performance enhancing chemical for boxing practice. Its buzz lends well to "grooving on it, man", which is a hippy euphemism for intense, sometimes insightful, focus.
Is that why the USSR and USA were in Afghanistan; the graveyard of empire? Asking for a Kung Fu friend.
Seriously, though, the Drunken style uses the body's natural springs to cock and release. I work like that now to take it easy on my old body. Think shuto thrown properly, with your hips in it, but extend that to sweeping up and down, back and forth.

Hello there, can you try researching the history or customs of the superstitious Ghost Marriage Ritual.
Ghost marriage is the custom or tradition for deceased people to get married with another partner, living or dead. Take my brief explanation as a grain of salt cause it's more complicated than that, since they need to follow certain procedures - like finding the right partner that matches their deceased love ones like how an arranged marriage works.
China, along with other Asian countries, like Korea, Japan and the like, have used this practice since it was believed that if a person were to die without getting married meant that they will remain single in the next life or will live their lives as a ghost since they have an unfulfilled life.
Several films have used the Ghost Marriage Ritual as a theme so it's a research worth looking into since their is no concrete explanation on when it happened but it started in China.

One thing to remember is that you can do what you learn in the state you learn it. If you learn to fight drunken you can’t be as good sober and vise versa. Keep this in mind when you study and need to take a test. You will not remember your studies if you study sleepy or drinking then take the test sober and aware you will not do good.

In China old days, especially during war time, it's very chaotic n life threatening. Kungfu and technique using weapon is crucial skill to stay alive. the so-called ridiculous hard technique nowadays was a norm by then when life's hard n challenging. The physical form or endurance of then normal people were much tougher then now. Another point to mention is a lot of techniques were lost due to the selfish/conservative attitude. The martial arts are like intellectual property, it's matter of live and dead. Some families rather lost their inheritance of techniques then let others learn it. Yea. It's a culture shock for westerners.
