Another descent day John lovely bream plus you had a big fish get off that one fish could have given you double figures so always like for a positive out of any negative your luck will change it's all experience every day's a school day.best wishes .
Oh I wish it would change, had some really tough draws this year. I always give it my best effort though. As an old friend once said - you can't pull fish out of puddles - though I guess since the advent of commercials, that kind of doesn't ring true anymore 🤣
It is what it is pal, you know how it goes. My only aim with these videos is to give a little back to the sport and help people know what is it isn't working for me on venues. Onwards and upwards to the next one, I'm below York this weekend. Come and say Hi, if you spot me at Linton. Tight Lines 🎣👍
Thanks Stan, I'm not landing on fish at the moment, or at least ones that want to feed, but it only takes 1 good result in a qualifier to make the £5K final. I'll have my day yet. It's sunny here too 😁 bit too warm for the fish last weekend, 29-30oC and too hot for some of the anglers to continue but probably still freezing compared to California. Take care mate👍
Great video buddy and the water looked very calm… one of my first rivers I fished .. coming from that area… was tidal back then in the 80s and would always be chocka full of match anglers summer or winter … was a great place to catch some clonking dace and roach ,,,.. lots of flatfish too and them bloody EELS !!!! 😳😳😳
Thanks John, yes there was very little flow on it. The Ouse used to be full of eels too, though they seem to be coming back now - hope they don't get up to the numbers we used to see 25 years ago, that's hooklength city!!!
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel yeah ma old man’s been fishing the swale for barbel and he’s been catching eels. He bloody hates them with a passion 😳😳🤣🤣…. He always catches them too. … they must know !! …. So funny 😂
Unlucky John Wished I’d had time that weekend I would have had a walk down I live about 2 miles down stream from were you were and yes I don’t fish the moody cow enough these days but 5lb+ on a new venue that not fishing well was a gud day all the same 👍👍👍
Good video again John-met you at Lindley wood a few weeks back how did you do that day?its fishing well at the moment nice skimmers and good roach showing.keep the faith-tight lines.
Hi Gary, I remember pal. It was a struggle at Lindley, managed half a dozen small skimmers and a dozen tiny perch. No good on the whip, think I was fishing over the bankside vegetation. Has the level dropped now? I think they were flushing Fewston out yesterday following the repair works.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel up last sunday and the level was down past the tree line fished liquidised bread/hemp on a short feeder line had some nice skimmers and a few roach.best line was waggler at 3 rod lengths out skimmers loads of roach and pesky perch but a good day.get yourself back.tight lines.
Hi John, you said you mixed the groundbait up the night before, did you use tap water or use river water, reason I'm asking is i done the same last week, but used tap water, groundwater didn't smell right,so binned it,do you think the difference in water can affect the bait
Hi Phil, I always consider this, so here's what my thoughts are... I prefer not to use tap water due to chlorine content but have in the past without any problems and caught well on it, so does it make a difference? Maybe in our over analytical minds but when you consider the dilution of what it's going into it's unlikely any chlorine content will make a difference or the fish wont be attracted to a strong flavoured groundbait. With that said and considered, to be safe, here's what I do. If I'm cooking hemp, i'll use the water from that, if I don't have that then I take water from the water butt in the garden as long as it's fresh and doesn't smell of sulphides, so I always try to use it and keep it turning over. If the water in this is no good as then I'll boil a kettle and let it stand until cool and use that. Lastly tap water left to stand in a bucket for a day will be the next best option and better than straight from the tap. Hope this helps pal.

looked very promising but .. .. .. well done for plugging away. ..
Thanks mate, you've got to keep grinding the gears, just never know where or when the fish will switch on 🎣👍
Always look forward to your videos john
Again thanks Stephen, I don't know why but RUclips seems to hide all your comments from me, I'm not ignoring you.
Unlucky mate i will probably see you at Linton

Haha, he's the eel king 🤣
Very good on a moody venue at the moment, I’m sure with a few visits you’d sort it out.
Thanks Paul, yes I'll be back at some point to try my hand again. Roll on the next NRM qualifier 🎣
Great vid John well done 🎣
Thanks Anthony. Just sat in the Ouse below York waiting for the whistle for NRM Q5🤞🎣

Thanks Daz, it was strange the middle just didn't fish but it was a similar story above me on the next peg up.
Good video John, not fished the Tees for quite a while, it looked good where you were. Lost fish could have made a difference.
Absolutely Mike, just one of those things unfortunately, can't always find a reason why they come off. 🤷♂️
That's good old chuck across there do you use a shock leader
Hi Raymond yes i was using 8lb Guru Shield shock leader joined with a uni knot to matrix 0.10 submerge braid on the long line.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel thanks
Oh well. At least you weighed in. Better luck next time.
I like to know what I had even if I know it's not enough, spend all day trying to catch em 😉

D36 octbox?
Yes bud
What rods you using
I tell you at 1:37
was a better river when it was tidal ,but well done all the same
Thanks Tony, don't think the unsettled weather helped, that rain really seemed to switch it off but it desperately needed a bit of colour and flow.
