      @@jjames2162 Disagree. Both Vietnam and Russia's intention beyond Ukraine was built on flawed logic. Vietnam war was built on flawed logic of stopping communist expansion. Biden and EU show flawed logic that if you do not stop Russia in Ukraine, Russia will attack other NATO coutries. That is so farther from the truth. Russia can't even take on full Ukraine, and Putin is not stupid to take on Poland or other NATO countries. If you argue that Ukraine needs support because it is wrong to take over another country, that argument has good point. But if you argue we need to support Ukraine because otherwise Russia will attack NATO and US will be in war with Russia, there is no basis to it. In other words, Ukraine is an unfortunate war for Ukrainian, but it is no threat to NATO countries.

    Before we Europeans discovered America, we were doing alright. We had castles, good ships, universities and a lot of other good stuff. In a way, intra European competition for supremacy made the continent strong. In the late 19th century, a Japanese envoy to Europe described how each country was spurred on and progressed because of competion with other European countries. The EU has removed this dynamic. Now we have a prescriptive medicine, spoonfed to each country by the council of Europe and it is poison. We needed free trade but nothing more.

    • @Ron-Ayres
      @Ron-Ayres 21 день назад

      @@jamescampbell9533 Longer answer than intended, sorry James but I've tried to cover all your points. Europeans tend to enjoy a better standard of living partly because here health is a service, not a business. We're not rich, but we're also not pickpocketed daily by multi-billion dollar health & pharma corporations.
      We have robust labour laws, employers (by law) pay people a decent living wage inc capped hours and decent holiday entitlement, and we allow people to be sick or pregnant and still get paid, *_because we actively voted for those things, when America didn't._*
      The key reason far too many Americans live on the poverty line is corporate greed, creating a widening 'Grand Wealth Canyon' between rich and poor, but the electorate has sadly swallowed the billionaire's lie that giving *less than 1/3 of 1% of your GDP* to halt a tyrant hellbent on world domination, is somehow the problem. (That's *27c per person* you've given so far, btw.)
      Europe has - like the USA - also been front and centre with financial & humanitarian support for Ukraine from Day 1.
      USA Financial Support: Allocated: 84.7bn; as yet unallocated 15.3bn.
      European Financial Support: Allocated: 118.2bn; unallocated 74.1 bn.
      Many UK citizens are fighting alongside Ukrainians right now, and providing on-the-ground medical/humanitarian aid. We've also welcomed thousands of refugees into our own homes. To imply the US is 'paying our bills', or we're not paying our way (a Trump obsession) feels both inaccurate & unfair.
      European supermarkets are stacked with Californian wine - it's delicious. There are literally Ford cars _everywhere_ in Europe. Wisconsin doesn't seem to export its cheese here, maybe something to do with Trump's 25% dairy export tariff imposed in 2018?
      You're currently involved in armed conflicts in Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Pakistan, Libya and Yemen. Those aren't your wars either, nor your continent, your hemisphere, nor are they part of NATO. But you're still there because, what... oil?
      If Putin wins in Ukraine, we *all* lose, and he won't stop at Ukraine. We live on a planet together and isolationism gets us nowhere, it'll also only embolden your main adversary, China. Peace. 🩵
