  • Living with the 2017 Sinnis RSX125 - Long term review
    I've been riding the socks of the 2017 Sinnis RSX125 for a while now and, following my first ride review, thought it about time I gave you an update on what it's like to live with the machine in the real world. Does this Chinese manufactured 125cc motorbike live up to it's promise or are these cheap bikes as rubbish as many people claim? Should you buy a Chinese motorcycle? Stay tuned to find out...

    The gr8 thing about Mr Tmf is that he's no snob who won't touch anything below sixty or seventy horse power Most bikes on the road are in fact 125s. So well done!

      ya boi imho small capacity machines have lots of advantages over large machine big bikes yup great fun but unless you take them on a track or break the law they are full of wasted power.
      Fun ? A 250 trials or MX bike both of which I’ve had match any bigger bike for fun just not on the road but tell me how much fun a motor way is ride is (boring)
      Around town imo bikes like the Honda pcx are just so much more convenient with performance to match the traffic a 1000cc bike in the town are just poser lumps.

    I'm watching this with a big grin on my face. As a older rider who has pretty much ridden big touring bikes, Harley Ultra and now a K1600GTL one of my favorite bikes is my g650gs super single. Something about just hopping on a nice small peppy bike to get around and back and forth to work that just puts a smile on your face. Thanks for another great review and keep up the great work.

    Great vid...Thanks...I have ridden bikes since i got my first one at 12 and grew up of road riding DT 125's TY 50's and XT 500's and had a few 125's on the road, until I got my car license...Due to the way my life panned out and my later interest in cars when I had the cash to buy what I wanted, I never did my full bike test...Now in my early 50's, I am getting pretty damned fanatical about bikes again and can't think of much else...LOL...I am learning the motorcycle theory at the moment and noticed that you can ride 50cc on the motorway!!! I did not know that and was stunned...I thought you could not go lower than a 125cc bike on the motorway...
    Just saving for the test and a bike...
    Your vids are helping me and are bloody brilliant...Cheers...

  • @AW8UK
    @AW8UK 3 года назад

    Thanks GMF ... Another good vid & sensible & balanced review. Just done CBT after an absence of 35 years on 2 powered wheels. I recently saw one of these locally at a franchise I know. This is what budget bikes should be...older but trusted tech, knowing it effectively has a suzuki lump is reassuring . I can live with 50-60 mph when cutting my teeth again. The main negatives are service interval if having to take it to a motorcycle garage in 1st 2 years. Am sure that d.i.y. maintenance shouldn't be difficult later on.
    Aware of age of vid...No idea if Sinnis sorted indicator switch & side/running light glare to rider.

    All in all a very candid and comprehensive review covering everything a potential buyer would need to know. Sinnis will probably want to employ you as a sales executive for sure. I've been riding Chinese bikes for some time now and have seen massive improvements with an increasing number of manufacturers and I believe with reviews such as yours can only be a positive step in the right direction. The only downside to this is as these bikes become more popular so the prices will rise. So don't tell too many people about this secret you have discovered lol. Thank you once again👍👍👍

    fantastic video and review thank you so much for sharing... I am just looking to part with my car before I relocate to the Philippines in the not too distant future and haven't ridden since I was a youngster and looking to get a small 125 to get some experience again before riding over in the Philippines. So trying to decide what to go for... this looks impressive for what it is, think I may opt for this over their Supermoto after watching this review... I shall see if you have anymore reviews of their 18/19 models. Hopefully they used a better quality indicator switch and kept the centre stand etc! :) Well done video as well by the way keep up the great work fella! :)

    I wish they'd bring this to Honolulu. With our congested traffic and inability to go on long rides, large cc bikes make no sense. We've got dealers for the Benelli TNT 135, Honda Grom and Kawasaki Z125, but the Sinnis looks less like a mini motorcycle than the others, which I appreciate.

  • @Peakwanderer

    Another very good and enjoyable review thank you. Remember road tax no longer exists, it was replaced by vehicle excise duty years ago. I think the Inazuma comparison is a bit harsh on the RSX to be honest, oh and lastly when was the last time you actually held a bicycle? this RSX is 10 to 15 times the weight of an average bicycle, in relative motorcycle terms it may well seem light, but to a newcomer it will still seem very heavy.

    I had the Lexmoto ZSF 125 - in fact I did my CBT on one, which made me decide to get one.... I'm 13-15 stone and found it would cruise happily 55-60 mph and was fun to ride... The only thing I didn't like was the chinese tyres alright in the dry, but very jitterish if the road was wet... definately something to consider changing - I did actually buy some Michelins but upgraded to the Tripod before I got round to fitting them (they are still in my garage if anybody is interested)...
    Considering the price - I paid £1,100 with less than 20 miles on the clock... Chinese bikes certainly have come a long way :)

      A visit to countries like Thailand is a real eye-opener. Why don't more countries use small bikes as commuters? They are fun, good in traffic, cheap to run, offer independence and easy to park. I don't understand why people feel they have to use a car (or public transport), especially when commuting solo in town and struggling with parking.

    I never could understand why, when the CBT was brought in, they started teaching people to move the bike around the way you did, I was always taught (back in the 80's mind you) to hold both handlebar grips, from the left, and lean the bike into your hip to help support it. Works for me with my heavy old beast of a Deauville 650, but also just as easy I find, scooting it around while sat aboard. Saying that, each to their own method, there's no wrong way! Damn fine review, and looks like a nice little chinese runabout. RSM8

    On the cons you never mentioned the side light glow...
    But I'll agree with you Chinese bikes are generally good these days, not just Sinnis, but in General, and as stated most engine's on the more well known brands, are made in China.

Front wheel bearing collapse, tyres needed changing (bulges on side walls), exhaust rotted, chain and sprockets needed replacing. But apart from that not a bad bike.

    Thinking of lexmoto from a dealer near me. Its a 2018 viper. Any thoughts. I'm worried about service intervals on its 2 yr warranty

      I don’t know the Viper - all I can say is the RSX seemed very good to me...

      Many air cooled 125's don't have an oil filter as such, so c. 1000 mile oil changes are not unusual. Tgry only run about a liter of oil so its 15 mins and £10 if you do it yourself once out of warranty.

    1200 mile service interval, ouch. That's a valve check then? Guess one would get good at doing it quickly.

    On 125s you get about a 14 litre tank. On some big bikes you get just over a 14 litre tank.
    I guess with 47 to 180 bhp bike you can get to the petrol station quicker on the twice as often trip to them :)

    You see the same prejudice with Chinese bikes that you used to get with Japanese bikes even in the early 70's and look what happened there! Looks like a solid commuter bike. As for the temp gauge....you'd need an oil temp gauge...arguably more useful on any bike than a water temp gauge. Mrs Flyer wasn't keen on the pillion test then? Anyway, a very good review, without prejudice and extremely informative. Good work sir!

      @TheMissendenFlyer  6 лет назад

      Exactly - and yes oil temp gauge is the one to have, agreed....thanks for the kind words, all the best - TMF

      You do get those oil temperature gauges that fit on the oil filler cap. Might be the way forward for such a bike. See www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/331945848859?chn=ps&dispItem=1

      @@TheMissendenFlyer no problem if you would do a review on the best chinese bikes that'll be awesome. Like a comparison between, Sinnis, Lexmoto, Direct Bikes, KTM etc. A short one depicting the cons and positives.

    How do you feel the bike would be with a 6 foot plus tall rider on it?
    This type of bike is what I'm thinking of as a daily commuter. On my 16 mile round trip on 40mph max roads, anything bigger wouldn't make sense to me. Like yourself, I have an R1200GS which is overkill for the commute and a 1979 DT175MX Yamaha that I wouldn't like to subject to the crap weather most days.
    I used to have a Suzuki GS125 back in '83 that took a lot of abuse and never failed once so I can totally vouch for that engine. 👍🏽
    One of the reasons I subscribed to your channel was that you have absolutely no brand or capacity snobbery. I'm about to watch the Yamaha Xmax 300 review now.
    Keep the videos coming.👍🏽

      Thanks for the kind words - appreciated....I think a 6 footer might just about get away with it on one of these, it doesn't feel like a tiny bike in the way some 125cc's do...

    Great review, it was the review that made up my mind to buy one of these. I've had it for 4 months now and loving it. However there is something I could not help notice, wherever I looked I could not find any information about whether this really has ABS or not. I am now almost convinced that the slotted disc on the front is not really being used for ABS but rather for calculating speed. Reached this conclusion after looking at the 3 pipes/wires going down the fork, two of which are brake lines and the third connects to a sensor pointing at the slotted disc. If this is being used as and ABS sensor then where is the sensor for the speedometer? I don't think it's being read from the gearbox because if I move the bike in neutral I can see the speedo show 1 or 2 kph. Just a small observation which in no way changes how much I like this bike :)

    Hi :) are the tyres reliable or would you recommend getting them changed once bought?

  • @peakrider4886
    @peakrider4886 6 лет назад

    I think the Chinese bikes are improving, my son had a Lexmoto scooter. Engine wise it was fine, it just is the other components that need working on to survive the British weather. They also need to lengthen the service intervals to make it more practical. One issue might be tyre sizes, as I've found some Chinese brands have very odd tyre sizes which limits the choice of replacement rubber. Give it another 10 or so years and they may be producing some good stuff, but by then everyone else will have moved forward with electric bikes no doubt.

    yep looks fantastic but the elephant in the room for me at least is service intervals of a mere 1200 miles. I use my scoot for day touring and 5000 miles a year is the norm. This bike would need 4 services against my CHESPAS two!
