you always make me feel better when I am down about being diabetic. I needed this today. Your description of the ducks swimming was so spot on!!!!! We look fine on the surface but our little legs are paddling like crazy to keep us afloat!
OH thank you so much for sharing this with me. This is truly what I want my channel to be all about - this knowledge that we are not alone in this struggle!! We're all a bunch of little duckies paddling/peddling away and though we may all be different with our struggles there are so many commonalities that we all share and can support each other through! Thank you for sharing this with me! You are loved Jane! And you are not alone!! 💙
Oh thank you so much for sharing this!!! Truly this is what this video is, and my entire channel is all about - I want people to know they are not alone in their struggle, their thinking, and their experience. All our diabetes may be different and unique but there's a lot we all have in common that can be really empowering when we all share it together. You are not alone my beautiful friend! We're all in this together! ❤️
These are some great questions! Lately I've been waking up to at least a 200mg/dL reading and I can't figure out why, which is frustrating and upsetting, so this video helped me relax a bit. Keep them coming! 😁
Oh my gosh I'm SO sorry to hear this - that is incredibly infuriating! Iv'e had these times myself and my goodness - not only is it frustrating, but it's also exhausting, completely exhausting!!! I hope you're getting some relief from the invisible diabetes monster messing around with your blood sugars!!! You've got this!! Sending rest and relaxation your way!!!
Interesting on the question of weather being a factor. Walking is my main to do when I'm going or at high readings. Living in Minnesota, during the winter, means changing a number of things to stay in range. Eat less, do something in the house that requires movement, more insulin, or bundle up and face the cold. Being 75 with neuropathy in my feet, walking when it's -20 degrees F and then add in a wind chill factor, not worth going out, nor wise, in those conditions at all. Good questions and answers.
My type 1 diabetes unfortunately controls my life. I am constantly reviewing my Tandem Pump and performing quick bolus as necessary. Accurately calculating carbs and dosing properly is a challenge. Again, managing my diabetes is a full-time effort. This is my reality, which I've come to accept. I'm looking forward to a breakthrough resolution for this disease. Currently, stem cell therapy might be the solution to eliminate Type 1 diabetes. Wouldn't that be awesome!
Thankyou for the video Andrea and David , Great questions, so helpful. Your channel is an amazing blessing to all of us, even more so when we are finding the diabetes even more difficult to deal with. I find the endocrinologist visits like exam time. Loved the duck analogy. The worse type of questions i get is , you cant eat chocolate etc, your a diabetic , or why do you check your levels so much, often people think that, you are a type 2, especially being older ,as I am . It's great to have special people in our lives, my Sharron , and your David, who really try to understand .❤
How interesting Christine!! I'm SHOCKED your doc was surprised!! It's such a given for me - but maybe we're the odd ones out! Fascinating!! And btw - I'm the same with a bath!! So suddenly a bath isn't so relaxing...gah!!
Hello again Andrea and David! I can relate to your experience of being a perfectionist. my endocrinologist actually gave me a different experience than you had, she said that I was trying too hard. I was 97% time and range. She said it’s too much work to achieve that type of time in range. She also said that the pumps are designed to keep you 70% time and range or better so she challenged me to enjoy life a little more. Thank you for listening.
Oh hello!! This is so excellent to hear about your endo's helpful advice!!! This is WONDERFUL!!! I'm so glad you were given this advice and that it's made such a big positive impact on your life!! This is the DREAM!! And thank you for sharing this with me! I'm going to take this advice to heart myself!! ❤️🙏
I have to plan everything, from what to order in a restaurant, monitor my glucose during my meal, re adjust if it goes too high. Everything I do is affected by how I manage my insulin pump.
Wow I guess I like my endocrinologist even more. From the very beginning it's been a partnership. He'll offer suggestions but I've never felt scolded or talked down 2. I'd actually never allow that in a provider relationship as he/ she isn't the one living with the disease. I like that your husband is asking u the questions. Cute couple and it's so nice to see him so involved. Thanks
Hoping they get you back to voice Amanda Ripley in the sequel!! Also would be cool to see you talking as the character in future videos Sorry this comment has nothing to do with the video at hand. Really enjoyed your performance in that game
I had a pancreatectomy last September and using Dexcom with Omnipod. I’m starting to re-train with aerobic activity and doing more active work. I find even if I start high, say around 185-190, within just 20 minutes I can be crashing. I get so frustrated so I’m trying to anticipate with food (but that takes enzymes). It sure is a balancing act. I have to be so accurate with carb counting too! I feel I’m jamming glucose tablets all the time! Any suggestions?
Gosh - I'm so sorry! This is such a complicated situation!!! I really feel for you! What I will say is just keep trying, learning and listening to your body. This does get easier - I promise - it's like a skill that will build up over time, but unfortunately must of that skill is built through much trial and error and the 'error' often isn't even due to you - nor is it because of you. Sometimes blood sugars are going to do wild things on their own for no apparent reason and it's insane. I would just say keep going, and know that it will get a little easier day by day as you learn your body and try different things. I hope this helps!!
How has the current us political change impact your diabetes? They eliminated the $35 cap on insulin that will financially impact our seniors on day 1. Help me make sense of this absurd choice. Seniors will suffer needlessly because of their pettiness and loyalty to big pharma.

After 66 years with type 1, the complication that worries me the most is starting to listen to country music.😢
OK, I’ll take this complication! 🤠 😅😂
