Hi. I have had type 1 for 66 years. YIKES!!!!! Anyway, the battle continues as there is no choice. My A1C last week was 6.2. My endocrinologist is very supportive of my long journey. He usually ends my quarterly visits with this…..”You are a type 1 superstar and…..you are dying of nothing.” 🤩
you have been my greatest inspiration to keep fighting this battle, even when it feels impossible! i've fought to get my a1c down to a healthier range, and i'm so pleased to report that it is currently 6.6, the lowest it has been since my diagnosis! thank you thank you thank you!
Thank for making such valuable content for us T1D’s! Some practices that worked for me: - staying low carb for breakfast and lunch for easier blood sugar management throughout the day, except for dinner, I have complex carbs as it helps sleep better - eating Greek yogurt before bed, it helps me avoid unnecessary snacking of fear of low blood sugars during sleep and keeps it stabilized - drinking decaf coffee to avoid the potential blood sugar spikes (ps loved your unsweetened almond milk point) - carrying dates wrapped in tinfoil in my bag when I’m out and about (juice boxes are big, and sugary tablets are expensive. so I have found dates to be: cheap, satiating, they don’t go bad, and are light) - setting an alarm for bedtime (I agree with you on the sleep point, sleep is important! :) - eliminating snacking as much as possible to avoid the unnecessary headaches of monitoring blood sugar
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING AND FOR ALL THESE TIPS!!! I'M TAKING ALL THESE DOWN FOR MY OWN BENEFIT!! THANK!!! YOU!!! I've heard complex carbs help promote better sleep - this is something I'm going to try more of in 2025!! Truly I LOVE each and every one of these points!! I think you need to start your own RUclips channel!! I'd be a loyal subscriber, because you've clearly got EXCELLENT points!!! THANK YOU AGAIN AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I was eating chia pudding for breakfast earlier in my diagnosis because i was told having breakfast helps regulate things...but literally at 2 o'clock every day i needed to go to the bathroom and it was an _emergency_ lol
I just found you. My sister is T1D and tries to folliw her Dr. Myself keto for years and think low carb is useful for T1D. I dont however have much knowledge about how to avoid KTD. My sister uses about 50g carbs per meal and i think lower carb would be easier to manage with less hyper and hypo. I will watch more of your videos to learn more. I follow Jason Fung and Dr Ken Berry.
Great video for the new year! I’ve been considering the Oura Ring for a few months now already and now may take the plunge. Also want to add - would love to hear about your go to meals. We sound like we have pretty similar food trajectories and I would love more ideas.
I LOVE my Oura ring! It's definitely a 'premium' item to make the plunge on - but I've found it to be truly valuable to my health journey and that is worth the cost to me, at least! I will get working on the 'Go-To Meals' video - thank you for the encouragement and for being excited for the content - it means THE WORLD!!!! 🥹🙏💙
Thank you for sharing. I tend to eat the same breakfast; lunch and we have dinners that are our go to. We have meals set and I meal plan each week to make it easy we do pork chop Mondays with sweet potatoes and steak Fridays then we only have to fill in the rest with meals that work with my bloodsugar. I have been adding in new recipes, I have a lot of food allergies, which is another leave hard to work with, but I am finding some good ones that are working. I need to work on the sleep issue, and you have me wanting to try LMNT...you have made me feel better about it. When we take a trip, I always take what I call it my diaper bag I carry so much with me extra Dexcom, pod and all that goes with these things and I and pack food to take too LOL Thank you again for sharing
Love your videos, Andrea! Keep them coming 😊 I have noticed in several of your videos since I subscribed to your channel that you have mentioned GI issues several times, but without details. I understand, that’s pretty personal! I’m wondering if you’ve been tested for EPI, Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency? I read an article/study over a year ago that found that 30% of people with diabetes may suffer from this! Testing is a simple stool specimen. Treatment is prescription pancreatic enzyme replacement with meals/snacks. Just wanted to mention this to you. Happy to send link to what I read, but don’t see an email for your channel.
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! And I hear you on the oat milk - it's just so hard to find that creamy alternative! I completely understand where you're coming from on that one!!
Walking is a great one for me, but inspired to dust off my rebounder . I find Magnesium spray on the calves really helps with tightness that I also get there. 😻
Ohhhh I'm so grateful for this comment!!! Love the magnesium spray on the calves idea!!! Doing this immediately!!!! Also - I love rebounding! I'm going to a rebounding class tomorrow!
Hi Andrea. Would you consider making a video about managing long haul flights and jet lag? Love to see the go to meals ideas for a video. Great idea. And this a great video. Lots of good ideas!!! Ps love the tongue scrapping. I need to get back to it.
What a great video, Andrea!!! I think a lot of these ideas are good for people without diabetes as well, because we all benefit from sufficient exercise and sleep, and greater awareness of our bodies and minds in general. But, the last time we saw you, you were packing for a big trip with David, to visit both of your families for the holidays. I'd like to hear how that went. :)
Thank you so much!!!! And Happy New Year Emily!!!! I'm taking a break from unpacking right now (we got back late last night) - the laundry pile is HUGE - so today the washing machine is pretty much going to be continuously running!!!!!! I will make an update video - I think that's a great idea!!!!! Thank you for all your well wishes and for caring about the content - it truly means THE! WORLD!! Here's to a fabulous 2025 ahead!!!! ❤️🎇🎉🌟❤️
Happy New Year. Several things of yours are the same for me in a different way. I have also my bottle of water with me. I love it to cycling or promenade as workout at the end of the day. And doing that in nature make it even more better for your health, also mental health. My sleep tracker is my smart watch. I actually not by it for the sleep tracker but it shows also together with hours, the values and trends of my sensor. That is very usefull when driving car. You can have a safe quick view on your watch and watch give alarms when driving and so have not to look unsafe to a phone or pump! The sleep tracker was a bonus on that. I use on my phone xDrip to read the values from the sensor and there are many smart watch apps that can connect with that, also as a datafield that can be registered together with the history of your work outs. What is also very usefull to check later to see how you can manage better your suggar during cycling, hiking or long promenades. For those reasons I prefere the smart watch in place of the ring. In the first place because visualizing your bloodsugar what is very very helpfull when driving a car. xDrip has also a nice feature, reading your sensor values. That is very usefull when doing sport when you got every five minutes an update of your sugar in the bluethoot ears and so can react on time when going low.
How do you manage to walk without constantly eating sugar? If I walk more than 20 min, my sugars plummet! I want to be able to walk, without crashing and without eating/drinking juice all the time 😬
HAPPY NEW YEAR MARINA!!! Part two coming soon - I'll be editing it this week and hopefully getting it up this Sunday or the following Sunday!! Thank you for being so excited about it!!!!!! I look forward to hearing what you think of both LMNT and the Decom Stello!!! Happy New Year!! Here's to a fabulous 2025 ahead for you!!! You're just the best and I'm so grateful for you!!!!!! 🥹🎇🙏
lol - I pack Trader Joe’s soy milk with me in the car so I can add it to my Starbucks. Even if I get drip and ask for like a tablespoon of alternative milk I swear my BG rockets up even with a bolus. I don’t understand why coffee shops use the sweetened versions of soy/almond/coconut milks? They don’t taste any better. Plus most customers will add a syrup to their lattes if they want sweetness.
Yes to go-to meals! Thanks a lot for the video! I have totally fallen of the wagon... my toddler is sleeping horribly lately which translates to my blood sugar being so unpredictable that I have generally become very lax about it, because I feels like I can't control it anyways. But I know it's not true, I think I'm just a bit control-fatigued at the moment.
A happy, healthy and safe new year Andrea. A great thought provoking video. Thankyou. I start the day with a high fibre breakfast which offsets the constipating effect of some meds I take. So a high fibre cereal, psyllium husk, a heaped desert spoon of natural Greek yoghurt, a large Medjool Date, and some raspberries - all in the same bowl with milk. I snack on small fruits (or biscuits if by BGLis getting low). For lunch typically whole grain bread - toasted - with ham and tomato, followed by an apple. We usually have a light dinner with meat, salad and veggies. When exercising I use the exercise mode in Control IQ and when needed eat some extra carbs. It works for me, but may not be O.K. for others.
Thankyou Andrea for the great video. I always have trouble in the morning going high, use to love porridge for breakfast, and was always in range at lunch time, thought that was good , until I got a cgm, then knew how high I went every day after breakfast. Now just have an orange and some yoghurt, cup of tea, and the porridge for lunch 😊 I don't like water much either, have found not so bad, if nice and cold, also found soda water good .

Yes! I would love a list of go-to meals! (vegetarian mostly) Thank you!
PLEASE make a go-to meals video! I am T2D, but find your tips really helpful in my life and routines.
Thank for making such valuable content for us T1D’s!

The Greek Yoghurt before bed is it bolused for?
Have you tried zip lock plastic bags for dates.
More flexible and durable I think.
I sprinkle a mix of chia /flax seeds on food..I noticed it help prevents big glucose spikes.
Oh this is a good one!!!! Thank you for sharing this!!!

Great video. Walking is so beneficial. Think I need to give up the oat milk in tea & coffee, but yet to find a decent alternative. Happy New Year 😊
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! And I hear you on the oat milk - it's just so hard to find that creamy alternative! I completely understand where you're coming from on that one!!

I think one of my go to’s is moringa tea when my blood sugar is high, it’s insane how well it works
Oh I'm going to have to try this!!!!!!!! Thank you for the suggestion!!!
Any specific tea that you've found works or just morning tea?

Happy New Year Andrea for 2025! 🎉🥳 Looking forward to you doing a video for go to meals that would be a great idea for us T1D's🩷
I'll have to start replacing your multiple Matcha teas with water because, you know, it's just so tedious!! 😂😂💖💖
This is an excellent idea because - It's EXTREMELY tedious!!!!!!!!!
Love these videos
Thank you so much!!! Thank you for watching and supporting with your kind words!!!!
How do you manage to walk without constantly eating sugar? If I walk more than 20 min, my sugars plummet! I want to be able to walk, without crashing and without eating/drinking juice all the time 😬
Do you have gastroparesis?
Happy New Year!!! 🎆
Video of Q&A Pt 2 coming soon?
No I have not gotten LMNT yet.
Still do plan on trying Dexcom Stelo this year.

I hope you had a great Christmas and new year Andrea! I was wondering if I could get an autograph by sending something to your fanmail address
Thank you so much, and Happy New Year to you too!!! You can contact my agent, Markham, Froggatt & Irwin for fanmail (so kind!! Thank you!!!)
Thank you for making these videos. I’m interested in more. More diet, more exercise, more whatever.
I would really really love for you to share more of your go to foods and meals. I'm really struggling with that.
