    Another great video, MSER. Proper hitching and maintenance is a _huge_ part of horse ownership. Do it right, and you and your horse can go beyond your own barn. Do it wrong, and it's a bad day for you and your horse (and, hopefully, no one else).

    What we do especially for the tires is cover them with a tarp to keep the sun from slowly destroying them. I also made some planks for them to sit on which keeps them out of the mud. It also helps to pull the mats out and wash the boards after a few trips which keeps the urine from breaking down the wood. Especially if the boards aren't painted this helps the wood keep its structural integrity.
